    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/senate-rejects-democratic-bill-codify-abortion-rights-rcna17968

Feb. 28, 2022, 5:32 PM CST By Sahil Kapur and Ali Vitali

WASHINGTON — The Senate voted 46-48 Monday to block a bill pushed by Democrats to codify abortion rights into federal law ahead of an expected Supreme Court decision that could limit access to the procedure.

The legislation, the Women’s Health Protection Act, failed to garner the needed 60 votes to overcome a filibuster and would have fallen short of the 50 votes needed for passage after Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., joined Republicans in opposition.

The president doesn't make or enact the laws. The president is not the big daddy (or mommy) CEO of America. As long as Rekucklicans are willing to get up and do a long talk -- spoilers, they always will be -- they can essentially force a bill into a 60 vote major to pass instead of a simple 50 (plus the VP) majority to pass.

Doesn't help that there's a senator whose dick is caught in mouse trap baited with a lump of coal.

Don't take this the wrong way. Whenever I see this question I assume the asker is ignorant or willfully obscuring the facts with a leading question.

Used to be the average American world go to the movie theater like once a week or at least once a month.

Et was in theaters for a year and four months.

Deadpool is doing good, but not a year and four months good. That type of stuff doesn't happen anymore. Your living room is so much nicer and less crowded and a thousand times more comfortable than a theater.

Someone will always be making movies because of the prestige of it, but eventually movies will be about as popular as the actual live theater. They're still making plays, but Hamilton is the last play that broke into the main stream, and that was 2015.

I used to follow the Penrose stuff and was pretty excited about QM as an explanation of consciousness. If this is the kind of work they're reaching at though. This is pretty sad. It's not even anything. Sometimes you need to go with your gut, and my gut is telling me that if this is all the QM people have, consciousness is probably best explained by complexity.

    Impedance, floating

What's the difference between impedance and when a pin on a microchip is floating? I get the basics of impedance. I'm capacitive impedance it's a build up of charge. Like air in a balloon. In resistive impedance it's a build up of the magnetic field, like a flywheel. A floating pin isn't connected to anything reference voltage so it can fluctuate with surrounding interference or whatever. Why do some ICs have tri state, low, high, and high impedance? Isn't high impedance the same thing as floating? If it is high impedance that means it had to be connected to something, right? ~~Don't~~ Some kind of big capacitor or inductor in the chip?

Dudes come prancing up to you out of nowhere like it's their best move, then get *removed* when you don't drop your pants for a two step? I know I risk summoning the worst of the Internet with this question. I'm still curious if anyone's experienced similar in the game. Maybe I'm way off thinking there's some empathy lessons in here. Sneaking is so broken

Sneaking is op because you can start a battle with a sneak attack from Astarion and then the combat tracker is just Astarion and the enemies that saw him, or maybe only the little pillar of light that shows up. Once Astarion gets locked into the combat tracker you can still maneuver everyone else around the enemies sight lines and get a few more alpha strikes in outside of the combat tracker. My paladin -- in full plate -- can walk right up to an enemy that's frozen in the combat tracker as long as he doesn't walk into the sight cone. I beat dror, m, and gut in the goblin camp all without any of them taking any turns because I was able to alpha strike them into the dirt by just starting combat with the whole party sneaking, and then walking them right up outside of the combat tracker. Is there a party that can really exploit this? Ranger, wolf barb, shadowharts +10 party sneak, and an assassin rogue? Just alpha strike everything.

Why do sports commentators talk soft bullshit?

No shit skip, of course they shouldn't turn the ball over, or get red cards, or what the fuck ever. Passing gas in the bathroom and think it's perfume; literally shitty analysis I just heard on ESPN. Why don't sports commentators actually break down plays and strategy? Only one I can think of is jomboy breaks down pitches sometimes. Showed that the pitcher was releasing at the top of the throw for like 4 pitches of sliders then released like 20 degrees sidearm with another slider but because it was released differently it caught the batter and struck them out. Beautiful breakdown and I appreciated the sport and gamesmanship even more.

Trying out different early 50s builds in tier 3. Arsenal, deathblow, hammer is fun. That's what I used to level. Keeping all the plates spinning is a challenge and it's rewarding when you stack everything and nearly 1-shit elites Trying out unbridled rage instead of arsenal. Feeling like I'm standing around doing flurry and getting hit in the face more, but it's fun when hammer drops 30k crits in an aoe. There's less plate spinning but now I'm feeling fury starved and getting face kicked in more. Anyone else using unbridled and hammer? Does fury gen get better?

    D4 Gameplay reviews?

Looking for any good reviews for how the builds and classes actually play. For example, I've played mid 50s firewall and ice shards sorc. Ice shards felt like I was always waiting for frost nova. Even with ice shield sharing the load I'd always end up with a handful of stragglers or an elite with 30% life left and I'd be waiting on mana for weak raw shard casts. Firewall felt better because the waiting for mana could be done while hydras worked and I kited around the death zone. Stacking up dps and working bosses into the ranges I wanted was also a challenge and fun. However, sorc seems like it's destined to be waiting on mana or cooldowns. Now, I worked a hammer barb into the 40s and I'm having a lot more fun. I'm in control of choosing the right targets to keep death strike rolling and the rotation for arms master is a challenge that yields better results. I'm in more control of the game essentially. A boss can't just walk out of my 10-firewall nova setup. Barb is just more engaging for me because -- while barb sure have cooldowns -- gameplay isn't tied to them. Alternatively, I leveled a druid to 15 and it felt like a good loop was there for bear pulverize. I got taken out of it because bear couldn't beat a boss. Wolf did in the next try, and I liked the teleport aspect of the werewolf swipe, but not that I couldn't control when it teleports. What do you all think? Anyone aware of reviews that approach the game this way, instead of regurgitated build guides?

More hardware reversing, but the section about hardcoded bits is cool

    notebook recommendations?

Looking for a notebook that's pocket carryable. Thinking front pocket and a mechanical pencil in a case. Someone with a hard case so the papers don't get all fucked up

    Engagement and reposting bs?

I've seen what I think are pseudo engagement bait type posts, but I'm a little confused why that's happening here. There's no incentive to have big karma accounts to sell on Lemmy, is there?

    Hall effect vs?

Planning on building a flight stick for a space sim. I understand some basics and I've messed around with an Arduino and a breadboard. In the planning stages now. Should I measure the axis and rotations on the sim stick with hall effect sensors? Is there a more precise alternative? I would also like to control the tension on the stick with brushless dc motors like done in this project https://youtu.be/ip641WmY4pA and I think the hall effect shouldn't get interference from the motors. Hopefully.

    Flight stick?

Looking to build my own joystick, thinking 6-axis, a hat, maybe a track ball and or a touchpad as well as a throttle axis or two. Anyone know of any good flight sim type stick prints? Something like https://hackaday.com/2020/09/03/3d-printed-flight-controls-use-magnets-for-enhanced-flight-simulator-2020-experience/
