we did not luck out and the plan was not “biden bad.”
the plan was “biden is increasingly showing age and is actively losing an election that should be easy to win. polling shows that any other generic nominee does better than joseph robinette biden, so the logical next step is to replace him with his vice president.”
the trouble is we said that, and you didn’t listen. i was actively scoffed at and called a nazi for saying the above. poll data that showed proof of the above was downvoted and called manipulation. even when the donors started stepping down, it was still called fraudulent and irrelevant. i never hand waved someone asking me who replaces biden, and i always responded harris especially as the time got later. and again i was downvoted and scoffed at for that.
this was not luck, and you should start actively listening to people you disagree with more because you display some saddening signs of intentional ignorance here.

like do we live in a democratic republic or not? the idea that a candidate who isn’t even nominated yet can’t be replaced is laughable and should be attacked at all fronts, not given lip service.

i mean i’ve been ignoring Biden’s garbage capitulation to the false framing that immigrants are doing crime and rapes en masse and that this is a serious concern.
i’m gonna ignore it into the future but i’ve been ignoring it too.

literally! lame redditor brains love to barge in on posts like this and act like fat people somehow… don’t know they are fat? as though they don’t live carrying that burden (literally and figuratively) every day?
body shaming has been demonstrated to cause worse medical outcomes. it’s absolutely fine for people (especially medical sources) to inform overweight folks of the risks of obesity and to encourage them to build an intervention plan.
whats not okay is the reaction to this post. most of the comments here are proving OOP’s point, like, “how dare you not visibly hate yourself every moment of the day for your body.” i’m high key disgusted by the knee jerk reaction here.
spujb 2 months ago • 57%
nobody is saying that people with obesity need to he self loathing
…and yet your first reaction to a post simply about women who don’t hate themselves for their bodies was to say society needs to be less accepting.
do some internal thought because you seem to be getting closer to truth with your last paragraph but you are still way off base.

Personally I never participated in Liberty hub because it felt very toxic, if well moderated. Wasn’t for me. I am sorry that you all have lost this space you valued though.

self-hatred is not a treatment for obesity.
normally wouldn’t be a problem but there have been some significant world events over the past week which has resulted in this community being a hotbed for calls to violence, violating [instance rule 1.1](https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/) edit: they seem hopefully to be back 🤞

I can tell they are banned from !lemmyshitpost because they never downvote me there call me crazy 🤷♀️
(Example at the end) Usually we discuss stereotypes in terms of how they are harmful—which is good because it’s super important to recognize and confront the stereotypes that perpetuate systems of oppression and hurt. That doesn’t mean _all_ of them are harmful, though. Some are neutral and and some are a net positive. If you can think of neutral ones that’s fine but I’m especially interested in the constructive and beneficial ones. Hopefully I’m explaining this well enough but if it becomes clear I didn’t I’ll delete this post. **Example:** I usually encourage people, especially kids and pedestrians, to assume that drivers can’t see you. While it’s not necessarily true even a majority of the time, it’s nevertheless a constructive stereotype to hold in terms of road safety.
**Context:** In a discussion about a small apartment listing described as "perfect for a full-time female student," the above transphobic comment was made in regard to who would post such a listing. The comment is transphobic because it: 1. **Misgenders**: Puts "woman" in quotes, invalidating trans women's gender. 2. **Stereotypes**: Suggests trans women might transition for ulterior motives, perpetuating harmful stereotypes. 3. **Undermines Identity**: Implies trans women are fundamentally different and suspect compared to cis women.
this wasn’t one but also making a ManBearPig reference in current year should be a felony

This is inspired by [this advice](https://mander.xyz/comment/10625495) from a few months ago: > Stop giving shitty mods a free pass. Honest mistakes happen; but if the mod in question is assumptive, disingenuous, trigger-happy, or eager to enable certain shitty types of user, **spread the word** about their comm being poorly moderated. And don’t interact directly with the comm. I think that at least here in the Fediverse we should demand higher standards from our mods. (Emphasis mine.) In the past I have used places like [!lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world](https://lemmy.world/c/lemmyshitpost) or [!196@lemmy.blahaj.zone](https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/c/196) to call out mods on other subs, with mid-to-almost-high degrees of success, but I wonder if it would be better to have a dedicated sublemmy? Here are my thoughts on what would make this effective: - probably shouldn’t be hosted on .world due to the breadth of possible conflicts of interest with admins - probably shouldn’t be hosted on .ml due to federation hurdles - mods of the community shouldn’t moderate any other communities of any significant size, in order to make the whole “accountability” thing work - mods should be willing and able to deal with substantial quantities of garbage posts because there would be a lot of “why won’t c/xyz let me be transphobic/say slurs 😡😡” type submissions which, left unaddressed, would outflood genuine criticism This is still in conceptual form so I am interested what others think :)
will prob delete. Prob offensive
