I vaguely support eugenics when it comes to prevalent genetic diseases.
If you have an incurable genetic disorder and choose to have children I judge you with the utmost disgust at your reckless selfishness.

I wouldn't say inner conflict but moreso conditioned thinking.
If someone has been conditioned to have certain beliefs and values then they see evidence that those values are wrong they'll ignore it completely.
Like a person on welfare complaining about "welfare queens". They are receiving govt assistance while complaining about people who receive govt assistance.

Bro some people just don't want to work without it directly benefitting them outside of money.
I'll grow/hunt my own food. I'll cut my own wood. I'll put in all the effort for things that directly benefit me.
But going to a job where the majority of my efforts benefit someone who puts in maybe 1/10th the effort to the point they make 10x my wage is just torture.

I thought it would disrupt the Dems demographic and cause the whole thing to fall apart. Kinda like what happened when Bernie dropped out.

I'm not gonna say it's not possible and honestly I'd like to see the tree it happened on but if you're gonna actually kill yourself with a rope a noose isn't hard to learn to tie.
I actually think it would be easier to learn to tie a noose than it would be to configure the rope in the way you described.

You realize that's why things just keep getting worse right? Cause y'all will always come up with exceptions. Every. Single. Time.

I just tried to look up a specific video of a Nick Swardson stand up bit. All I searched was "Nick Swardson loitering". There were 5 fucking ads before an actual user posted video, then one real human posted video that barely had anything to do with Nick, then 5 more fucking ads. I knew they were forcing ads into videos but clogging the entire search feed with ads is unfuckingbelievable. Is this really what it's come to? Ads are more important than what I'm actually looking for? Are people really okay with this?
I'm not meaning similar posts or the same post but in different communities. I've been seeing duplicate posts in the same community by the same people with the same upvotes/downvotes. A literal duplicate. Sometimes it's like I'm scrolling the same feed on repeat with a seamless transition.
A couple months ago I tried to buy Ghost of Tsushima but in a drunken stupor accidentally bought Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. I didn't realize my mistake until I was like an hour into the game (again, drunk) so when I contacted Playstation trying to get a refund they told me I was ineligible for a refund due to already installing the game (even though it installs immediately after purchase). So is there any way I can give it to someone else? It's not my type of game and I'll never play it so I'd rather see someone actually play it.
Inspired by a recent post about fork types. Stuff always seemed unnecessarily complicated.
I own a long dagger/short sword. The hilt is in the design of the German eagle with its wings spread out as the hand guard and in the middle of the hand guard is a swastika. The scabbard is also adorned with swastikas on the top, mid section, and bottom. I don't want to own this piece as I don't want to be seen as a Nazi sympathizer or anything of the sort, but I don't want to sell it to someone who actually is a Nazi sympathizer or something like that. What do I do with it besides trash it? I don't want to trash it because it's decent quality. It's not historic in any way (which disturbs me to think about) but it's well made. What can I do with it? *The item in question is not historical
I hate waking up and immediately jumping up to do shit
It's a bit out of focus but still clear enough to see. I made myself a BBQ burger. BBQ sauce, ketchup, lettuce, red onion, bacon, with cheddar cheese.
I don't even think there's dirt in there. It's an old birdbath with the top removed.
And before anyone complains about the ifunny watermark this picture was taken from Google.
By bump system I mean someone interacting with a post causing that post to move higher in the main feed. If so what are the specifics? Is it just upvotes? Just comments? What about if someone archives your post? Also what's to stop someone from trying to manipulate their own post by adding new comments to try to raise the post in the feed to get more interaction?

I know the title is poorly worded but I can't really think of how exactly to word the question. I was watching a cat try to find a place to sit that wasn't covered in snow and it made me think about how humans wipe off snow covered seats or just dirty seats in general. Is that a uniquely human thing or are there other animals that exhibit similar behaviors?
Almost all my life I've absolutely despised children. Pretty much from the moment I stopped being a child I've hated being around children. It doesn't even matter what the child is doing. Whether they're laughing and having fun or screaming and throwing a tantrum. The sound of a child being loud activates an almost primal rage that I can barely contain. I've had to leave social gatherings/restaurants/grocery stores all because if I'd stayed I'd have made a complete ass of myself by screaming at a child just for existing. It's even worse with infants which makes me feel horrible because I know they can't help it. I know the kids don't know any better and it's our job as adults to get them through childhood, but my blood boils when they get loud or demand attention. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Is there anything I can do to stop from getting so angry?
It really be like that sometimes

Working in food sucks in general. I would know I've been doing it for almost 14 years now. You drive to the store. You enter the store. You order your food. If there are any complications with your order you're told right then and there. But I'll never forget the day my job introduced mobile ordering. It immediately made everything worse in almost every way. Customers ordering shit we ran out of, shit we no longer offer, setting the pickup time 5 minutes after placing the order then getting mad when it's not done on time. All this while we can't communicate with the customer at all until they arrive to find the order incomplete because we couldn't contact them to figure out what they wanted to do. Then door dash became a thing and all those exact problems became even worse. It slows down the entire store to the point of disrupting the customers who came in to order. Why the fuck would you go through a third party system to obtain food ***when you can just go get the fucking food*** Basically if you use mobile ordering or a delivery service you're a big part of why food service has done nothing but get harder and more frustrating. And I do hold it against you. Edit: I don't think lemmy understands how unpopularopinion is supposed to work... Edit 2: Considering how many people clearly disagree with me and seeing how few upvotes this post has gotten, lemmy clearly has no idea how unpopularopinion works. Glad to know the Reddit custom of ignoring that still lives on.
Every time you interact with someone you should give them a base level of respect. How they respond determines the amount of respect you continue to proceed with.
A person can be killed instantly through many different means. Gunshots to the brain, being crushed by immense weight, being crushed by smaller weights moving at high speeds, high speed collisions with hard surfaces. As we know it, to be killed painlessly, is to be killed instantly. If you instantly destroy a person's entire brain then they died without pain. Yet the most effective ways of instantly destroying someone's entire brain are considered ihumane. Like letting someone die of an untreatable disease but giving them so many pain meds they can't feel anything is "humane" but shooting them in the brainstem or destroying the entire brain isn't. If instantly killing someone by smashing their head with a massive rock, or shooting them in the brain stem is inhumane, then humans only consider it "humane" if it doesn't leave a mess. Obviously I've left out a lot of different ways to die, be they slowly or instantaneous, but that list is massive. But I'd much rather die messily yet painlessly than painfully yet "pretty"

Exactly as the title asks. Pure oxygen is generally represented as O2 yet oxygen is an element of the periodic table. Why is it O2 and not just O?
