It's been a long time but It finally happened, I've been compromised. Like an idiot I reused passwords and they got into most of my accounts. I've changed 300 different passwords and recovered all except one account, my Facebook, which I'm being told is unlikely I'll ever get into again. This is probably from a data breach, I'm in a few, however, I still want to do a wipe of my PC, but it's been a few years and I don't remember the best practices. This is a long time coming though because as well as simply possibly being compromised my PC has been experiencing a myriad of errors and annoyances, such as random entire system stutters, apps crashing out of nowhere and general performance slowdown. Luckily I've got about 7 drives all holding various things, but the entire OS is on the tiny NVME C drive, as well as program installations. IIRC I can factory reset without losing data on the other drives but this one will probably be wiped yes? Is this enough for security though? I would imagine most malicious files would be completely removed by reinstalling the OS but I want to make sure no other avenues exist. Also what is best practices this day and age to do a clean reset? Thanks guys

Hey guys i have a problem, i'm trying to 3d model my apartment to scale, and whenever i do this i always run into issues down the line. So far my process is sketching it out in fusion 360 and then importing it into 3ds max, there may be an easier way i dont know of though. Anyone got any ideas? i've heard revvit is pretty good

So quite a few lemmy clients have a tagging feature for users. I use it quite constantly because I like to remember who I'm talking to. Though for some I just use it for descriptors. A few of you are listed as stubborn, a few of you are listed as don't engage, a few are Nice, or helpful, or Pug. I believe one of you is just listed as fish guy(don't remember why). How do you all use your tagging system, if you do at all?

I just moved and I live literally window to a freight train line, unfortunately it scares the crap out of my cats and so I'm trying to find out what the schedule is so that I can close the windows for them, and maybe put a little raspberry pi display screen saying something like "next train arriving in...." Here's the rules, anyone, anywhere in the world who has an expertise or is even good at something, or has some knowledge, you can take that expertise for yourself, but they do lose it in the process. Nobody knows it was you but the person who you stole it from, they can no longer do tasks that that level, (e.g. an artist can no longer draw but you can) Would you do it? Could you live with the guilt or would you pick some scumbag? I think I would take Donald Trump's business experience, say what you want but the dude does have at least a moderate understanding of selling a product. I take that, make myself a decent living (I'm sure I can do it without conning anyone) and donate the rest, leaving him without the only skill that he really relies on. I would have to be careful though, cause if he has money, and knows who I am, he could probably hire a hitman, so I would have to steal his knowledge of his network as well

You heard me, I'm curious, I know there's all those dumbass deepnude programs but has anyone actually tried to make a model that takes images of nude humans and puts clothing on them? I guess they don't have to be nude but that does remove a lot of variables in the generation. I think it would be an interesting little tool to try out new looks you never would really mess with before

Girlfriends car breaks down, she has to buy and sell a new one, lots of stress, my car breaks down, I have to buy and sell a new one, lots of stress, landlord puts property up for sale with no notice, lots of stress, new landlord raises our rent by 65% and now we may have to find a new place, lots of stress. This is too much, I don't know how I'm even hanging on at this point Edit: we dumped the landlord after he refused our counter offer, tbh it's gonna hit him hardest because I'm pretty sure he was just trying to get us to pay off his mortgage. A big weight off our shoulders though even though moving in the summer sucks

I'm starting a YouTube channel, and my first video has been giving me a lot of trouble, it's a painting video, sped up but with all the little parts slowed down to highlight the process. I've got a pretty good lighting setup, decent microphone and beefy editing computer, I thought I could get this done with my old eos rebel t3i, but I forgot about the whole fat32 thing. I cannot film any more than a 4gb video at once and the camera software on the PC has no easy workarounds for that,so I'm constantly looking back at my camera to see if its still recording or has silently shut off. Now another types of videos this may not be a problem but in these videos I'm literally sitting with the camera pointed at my work for 4 plus hours straight, that's a lot of restarting and transferring stuff. I need a camera specifically made for long form video and I don't have a lot to spend right now. I'm happy with a $200-$300 rig that has good enough quality, at least 60 fps and ntfs storage (or whatever the camera solution for this would be.) I would assume I may need a camcorder Does one exist in my price range?

Okay, so heres all i know, i have a oneplus 8 pro running lineageOS with magisk installed. I was in the bathroom, phone started getting weird after installing a luckypatcher patch i have installed before, kept getting a toast saying "magisk" keeps crashing. I restarted and now i'm stuck in a bootloop. any ideas? Edit:I thought to update to the newest build of LineageOS and Install the newest mind the GAPPS as well, but no luck
