This is a completely random story but the post made me remember and i wanted to share.
In college about 12 years ago i got cited for underage alcohol consumption and got an email saying i had to meet with an advisor to discuss the situation. I slept through the meeting and basically said exactly that in an email to the advisor who replied like wtf okay we'll reschedule, and then i never heard anything about it ever again.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a garlic plant grows some form of a "seed" head, that will have miniature round bulbs in it if they aren't clipped off that, it's my understanding, when they are planted they'll grow like this in the first year and into a normal garlic bulb year two. I've never experimented enough to know if I'm correct, but if my info is correct I'd guess either one of those got mixed in by mistake, or if your planting in the same spot as the year prior one might've just fallen off.

I've posted this elsewhere but I hate this so: A "donation" up front says I'll see what I can do, money after the fact says I'll fight for you. Sounds like bribery to me. Not that the current system isn't but backend feels so much worse

This answer is correct, I'm not going to put my brain through the hoops of which way is which from the pics, but roll the bike forward and double check that the front and rear are rotating the appropriate direction, if not flip them. Although I doubt you'd ever actually notice it the rear would be positioned for best traction and the front for least resistance hence the opposite directions

If you lived somewhere where the GOP candidate is going to get 65 percent of the vote basically no matter what, and in the GOP primary you had an incumbent, somewhat average, right wing conservative that you've seen work across the aisle in the state legislator ruining against a hard core maga nut job, anti vaccine, anti public schools, openly racist etc. Do you think registering as a Republican to vote for the incumbent in that primary sounds like an okay idea? You can still vote for the Democrat and make your voice heard there at the general election even though it's essentially guaranteed he loses.
Or is the argument against this that if the crazy maga guy wins the primary there's a slightly better chance the Democrat can win? I'd call it unlikely where I'm at, but could see tighter districts working that way.
rjthyen 3 months ago • 100%
I would be voting for the better GOP candidate in the primary hoping they win, and likely the Dem come general election, but since I'm in a red area I'd expect the Dem to lose but maybe help pick the lesser of two evils for the GOP?
rjthyen 3 months ago • 77%
I've been considering changing my registration to Republican specifically for primaries. I'm in SD, and the Republican almost always wins so I feel I'd have more impact trying to push the right left and can still vote however I want in the general.

I've got a pretty decent feel for what I use, but haven't ever put it on a target, but I guess I was trying to point out that the chart is somewhat arbitrary without listing a common shot size
rjthyen 3 months ago • 100%
What shot size though? Or doesn't it really matter, more just a difference in the spread within the spread and a difference in strength of impact?

This is a very uninformed comment, but isn't the social security tax essentially capped at earnings of 100k? Like if I make 200k a year I pay in the same as someone making 100k?

Always have to vote for the furthest left that has a chance to win and hope enough others follow suit. Our system sucks, but the biggest thing holding us back is how far right the country currently is. Even though depressing, your attitude is currently our best shot and I appreciate that you're one of the seemingly few on this platform willing to voice it.

Also looks like it could be spider mites. I'm not sure how common they are outside of large scale agriculture, but I've found them on my grandma's flowers before. Underside of the leaf may have small traces of spider webs, but the mites themselves are very difficult to see without a magnifying glass without having a trained eye for them

I may have missed it in another comment, but I believe part of it is the cost of lives. During the space race someone dying would've just been part of the risk. Now we are using more automation and a human fatality might risk a company's ability to continue its pursuit.

I like your idea of reversing the question. On their own I'm not big on sour cream or mayonnaise, but either of them mixed together with the right seasonings or sometimes even together with some seasoning and I can't get enough. Mayo is nasty, but a garlic aioli? Fricken great. Plain sour cream? A tad on a baked potato is fine, but a chipotle lime crema? I might lick that up off the floor...

Do you think so? I don't really know much if we dive in that deep, but I have seem some polls side by side with Biden/Trump as the options and Biden/Trump/RFK and they seem to me like Biden loses more support than Trump when RFK is included.
Edit for source, although I don't know enough about stats to support any of my opinions, but I assume I see two different polls that I assume count the same respondents and both look to me like RFK pulled more from Biden than Trump

I'm 30 and remember my parents having these and my first two phones were Motorola razors. It was weird for most kids to have a phone until they could drive. Funny how quick it went from kids don't need phones, to well I guess they should if they're driving, to probably should be able to reach them anywhere but they don't need the smart one lol

That's why I came here initially, but I miss some reddit communities enough I'd go back if their app wasn't trash. Here I get too many star trek and DnD memes, constant reminders I'm not as good of a person as I thought, and Linux posts.

I am going to guess you are not American. Our system is kind of fucked I'll admit, but at the moment it appears our options will be Biden or Trump. Knowing what you know who would you vote for? In our current system a third party vote used to be the signal of "our two party system sucks." But in the present world it feels like we're stuck with either meet and the middle and hope or burn it all to the ground.

I'm here, but would still be on reddit if their app didn't suck compared to what I was used to before the API purge. I still prefer reddit's content, but hate how I have to view it now so I'm here with y'all trying to blend in.
I have a Motorola edge plus that will not connect to mobile data. It will show several bars of service but the 4G icon is greyed out like it knows the service is there but will not access it I can make calls and send texts as long as they can be sent as an sms text. I use straight talk as a provider so my talks with customer service have been difficult, but they assure me my plan is in order and go straight to restarting the device (which does not work). I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I'm considering trying a factory reset of the phone to see if that corrects any settings on my end, or maybe buying a new SIM card and reactivating the service? But I don't know if there's any chance that would work or if I should just try harder with customer service.

Title, I'll try to remember to post my dog with some ducks after going out tomorrow morning. This post is for anyone reading this to hold me to it if I don't.
My wife and I started a new garden this year, and it ended up bigger than we needed so we dispersed some old seeds we had in the extra area. Ended up being fun and are harvesting some extra produce, but there's a few plants I don't recognize. I'm unsure if some of them are even seeds we planted or being new ground that was once my aunt's yard we uncovered some extra plants. I'm new to linking albums so someone let me know if something doesn't work. ~~https://imgur.com/4c6BWbr~~ New link https://imgur.com/a/tYThG0j
I'm guessing there isn't at the moment, but I can't stand how overloaded the feed gets with the copy and pasted posts from reddit. I get that a lot of communities here are small and are trying to add content to up engagement, but, for example, I'll see 5 plus posts from r/aitah in a row with no comments and I don't see why many people would even consider replying when the OOP isn't even here to see it. I'm actually considering blocking some of the communities that have a lot of this, but don't want them gone once their original Lemmy posts get more frequent.
