I wanted to like this one.
Neostore got stuck trying to sync repos or something and drained my battery from 80% to 20% within like an hour.
Uninstalled it immediately. No app should be able to malfunction in such a way to cause such battery drain.

I'm late to the game, having tried debian for the first time a few weeks ago.
I'm running the aarch64 version (KDE) in a virtual machine on my Mac (M2) and it's the only distro that, out of the box, hardware acceleration is working for video decode of web videos.
All other distro I've tried struggle to display YouTube videos.
Big thumbs up from me.

Wish it were as easy to use as Samsung Internet browser dark mode. You can enable/disable with just 2 taps: settings > enable/disable.

Voyager is like an open source Apollo. It's incredible
Drove hundreds of miles through some very rural New England, USA today. Most areas were very nice with well kept homes and cute, small city centers (mostly only a couple of brick, commercial buildings). What do people do for jobs out in the "middle of nowhere"? As an engineer who works closer to city areas where more jobs exist, I just can't fathom what people are doing for jobs out there? How is everything paid for? Edit: I should clarify there's minimal farm land out in rural New England. So, not very many farmers at all.

Sidebery v5 beta (on GitHub not on the addon store yet) + Firefox on MacOS and a few CSS tweaks has my experience almost exactly matching what I loved about Edge.
Just wish I could collapse (on demand , not via auto-hide) the vertical tabs sidebar to 1 icon wide when I need more horizontal room (anyone got a trick for that?)
People who lived in the house before us let a dozen trees grow for 30 years to become 30+ ft tall about 5ft from the septic system (and to make it even more fun, into the power lines along our driveway). Not having an acute problem at the moment but they've got to come down before there is a huge problem. And I'm bitter about it because it's going to be a huge PiTA or big dollars to pay for help.

It runs all the way down, flanking both sides. I pretend it's a moat for protection. So lush in some places it's difficult to not touch with your car as you drive along.

As an Android user, I never got to use Apollo, so I don't know if Apollo had this functionality. Definitely one of the things I miss most about the Reddit apps I used on Android, though. Would be a nice to have if the technology is possible on a PWA.
I'm now satisfied. Carry on. 😄
Is this your day job? How do you have time for anything else? I'm impressed lol
I'm using `darkly-pureblack` and it's just such a pleasure to look at. Such an improvement already from the 0.17.X days a month ago!
I'm using an Android (Pixel) phone, and I installed the PWA via Chrome, as it seems to work the best. Is there a way to change the icon easily?
Any post in a lemmy.world community I view from another instance (e.g. programming.dev) shows different content than when viewing from lemmy.world directly. Many comments are missing. There seems to be a massive lag, sometimes more than 1 day. Are instances really that far out of sync? It's hard to contribute from another instance knowing that nobody will see my comments for ~days

Anyone else? Can barely navigate, feels like browsing with a 56k modem. I'm in the US Northeast.
This 4th of July weekend I'm feeling so happy to be a Mass resident. Best place I've ever lived. What are everyones plans? Just had a BBQ with close friends. Such a great day for it. Beer, BBQ, firepit. Karaoke. Indoor/outdoor party.
Absolutely fantastic web app for Lemmy. Really enjoying it. Just wondering if a compact (small "card" style) view is planned?
Reddit would become compatible with Lemmy essentially making it it's own "instance", and suddenly 3rd party apps work with Reddit again. Full circle.
I have an M2 pro, 32gb of ram. It suffers from low frame rate... Pretty bad experience overall, for a native game. If this is foreshadowing what's ahead, that is disappointing! Anyone play? Any tips?
A world without sync on my Android device is sadface.

One of my favorite places to spend half a day.
Davis Square, I believe. It's crazy to see what it has become. I've been an active follower of r/Boston, r/Somerville and more recent r/Massachusetts for 10 years or more. I hope no matter what happens, we find a place to engage in discussion online as a community. First time I ever visited the state was to meet friends who lived in East Somerville. I drove across many states to visit them there (I was very young at the time so driving long distances was the norm). A few years later I found a job in MA and started to call Massachusetts home. I lived in Arlington for 2 years, moved to Brighton for 2 years before moving to East Somerville... My MA epicenter... For the following 5 years. I eagerly followed GLX news (archboston forum, town meetings etc), waiting for the day to ride from East Somerville to back bay in a single seat. The pandemic happened, our job situations changed and we ended up moving away from the city before I got to see my dream of GLX become a reality. Now, I live in the "sticks" out past 495 and I'm enjoying the trees, or as I call them BFTs (big fucking trees). Lots of deer, rabbits, opossums, you name it, to make every day a little bit interesting. Thats my quick n dirty summary. Glad you are all here. Thanks to anyone who read to the bottom. Cheers!
I've noticed an overwhelming number of posts here glorifying the "good old days" and how Lemmy embodies that sense of community we all long for. But let's be real: we don't actually know each other, and that's okay. When I hop onto a social media platform, I'm seeking something different. I crave the vastness of large communities where I can instantly engage with people, seek advice, and exchange ideas. It's about breaking news, both on a global and local scale, and sparking meaningful discussions. As someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, I witnessed the birth of web 1.0. I even hand-coded HTML for my elementary school's "web team" when I was just 12 years old. It was an incredible experience at the time, but times have changed. Now, for me, the internet represents a realm of connectivity, promptness, and the power of large-scale discussion. Let's embrace the evolution of the internet, recognizing that we can still foster a sense of community while expanding our horizons beyond nostalgia. It's time to seize the potential of this ever-growing digital landscape, where we can engage with a multitude of perspectives and amplify our collective voices. Overall, I really like Lemmy and the fediverse (I hate the word though, does that make me old?). Decentralization, while remaining connected, is wonderful.
Finally a break in the rain. ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/7c7bb31e-f186-42dc-8dc2-d645c47fb54a.jpeg)
