    What are these in the sea?

    What are these dotted ball shaped things I circled in yellow in the image? I thought they may be sea urchin skeletons. Though the things in the image may be too many and too large? They are in a mural in Brighton, England. The subject is "Protecting Costa Rican Wildlife", so I guess they are of some native species there. ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/323efe63-3d4b-4020-a566-d1215ab32c73.jpeg)

    Any good smart power strip not made in China?

    I'm looking for a smart power strip, which allows me to remote control and schedule on/off. Last year I bought [Hey!'s smart power strip](https://heyimhome.co.uk/products/smart-power-bar). Hey! is a UK brand, but turn out its products are just branded Chinese products. I used it anyway but it just bricked itself last month. For quality, safety, and security reasons, I would prefer a non-made-in-China smart power strip. Compatibility with Home Assistant is prefered, but not 100% required. I'm interested in switching to Home Assistant but I haven't yet. Thanks for any suggestions! cross-posted: https://lemmy.world/post/4556320

    a book store with a café

    This is easy because the tags don't overlap.

    shop=books
    amenity=cafe

    a café by day and a wine bar by night

    I saw something like this before, and they are usually two businesses with different names. I used two separated POIs (points) placed in the same building area to denote them. In this way, I can also put different names, opening_hours etc to the two POIs.

    I lived in Kowloon when Kai Tak Airport was still in use. We had planes flying super low above our place all the time everyday.

    Here is a picture I found on Wikimedia Commons that illustrate how low were the planes.

    https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:KaiTakAirport-2.jpg

    It was very noisy as you can imagine.

    The schools in Kowloon had air cons installed pretty early when air cons were still considered expensive and not very common among school buildings. It was necessary because the windows had to be closed for all time for soundproofing.

  • andyli andyli 1 year ago 60%

    Note that moderate intake of alcohol can be beneficial to health.

    More than 100 prospective studies show an inverse association between light to moderate drinking and risk of heart attack, ischemic (clot-caused) stroke, peripheral vascular disease, sudden cardiac death, and death from all cardiovascular causes.

    https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/healthy-drinks/drinks-to-consume-in-moderation/alcohol-full-story/

    But if you're only considering cancer, then as some of the other answers suggested, cutting alcohol intake to zero could reduce the risk of getting cancer, although the reduction is likely very small that's neglectable.

    Gears for phones?

    I have never been a real photographer. The last time I owned a camera (not phone) was 10 years ago. Since smartphone became popular, I have always preferred using smartphones because it's easier to carry around. However, occasionally I do wish I had better gears, mostly lens. I recently moved from a big city to somewhere with more wildlifes, and I'm interested in shooting some bird photos, so I guess I need some good lens with zoom factor. Are there any phone accessories that will allow me to do this?
