6.4 billion to build 4k units and services. I don't know how much is allocated to building and how much is allocated to services but even if it's 50/50(I think an insanely high ratio) that means the units cost 800k to build. Who is getting rich off this. I remember seeing one homeless project that was like a one room 400sf shack basically cost over 1 million each to build. The corruption when it comes to building contracts is insane.

My opinion for what it's worth is generally no one is going to not play hollow knight because they are playing the ripoff. You can't own a style or game genre if someone has a similar look and feel there's not much you can do about it than have a better game.

Two things that are just so indictive of the Republican party are 1) the aid said trump hasnt come up with a good nickname for Harris and that's really hurting him, like the future of democracy comes down to being able to call someone a funny name. It's so childish and so accurate to conservative voters. 2) the blatant admitting that him getting elected is the only way he can get out of his legal troubles, admitting that he's guilty and only if he gets special treatment by being president will he be able to avoid consequences.

But in practice what happens is people/companies make donations directly to a candidate then all of their priorities get fulfilled by the candidate even though the people that voted for the candidate don't support the issue.

Depends on the crop lots of crops are still harvested by hand. Also lots of crops are destroyed by hail, heavy rains or high winds all of which are somewhat protected by solar panels above.

I've heard of a male birth control every couple years and still nothing on the market. Usually it's because there are slight side effects and that's considered to much of a risk meanwhile female birth control can cause blood clots and whatnot. I'm too jaded to believe this will ever come to fruition.

So it looks like for senior design classes the students don't have to be associated with projects where they lose their IP rights. But sponsors have the right to say a project will give all IP to the sponsor. I imagine how this works in practice is all external companies will require they retain IP then the professor creates additional projects where ip can be retained but these are usually canned projects solving some trivial problem that won't really allow the students to go anywhere interesting with the project. I am not saying that's the case but I remember at my undergrad and at the UC school that was the case.
Spaceballstheusername 4 months ago • 100%
There are graduate students unions or research assistant unions. Undergraduates (not ones working in a lab) don't work for the university they are customers. It would be like members of a gym unionizing. I guess it could happen maybe.
Spaceballstheusername 4 months ago • 100%
I worked at a UC and companies retained all IP across all UCs and my undergrad school from the east coast was the same way. I've never heard of a university that let students keep their IP. I would imagine it would be hard to attract outside companies since the companies pay to be a part of the program. Can you point to a university program that allows students to retain their IP for senior design projects? I know if a student is doing a project through the school for a different class like a lab and they invent something or are volunteering the university has no claim to it but senior design is different.

The sad thing is the students who actually did the work will probably see no financial gain from this. Students pay to take a class and then a company pays the university for access to the students and the students ideas and work is used by a company with no financial benefit to the students. Everyone makes out except the students.

You mean like ores like copper, iron, rare earths that kinda thing. There are seems of minerals that are actually meteorites that have collected in certain spots on a glacier. Haven't heard anything about other large deposits but usually you would need to do all kinds of geological surveys to find that stuff and since most places are covered in 1mile+ of ice it's near impossible.

Problem is they know exactly what the people want (socialized healthcare, corporations to be held accountable for their actions, to break up monopolies, affordable housing, seriously address climate change, safe food and water, not supporting genocide) only problem is vested interests don't want that. So the Dems need to figure out how to balance those two things by appeasing the powerful interest and paying lip service to the voters.

If you are saying half of america then the population usually includes everyone who is alive not just people 25-54, everyone needs money to live. But if you took that subset of the population (not sure why you would have an upper bound of 54 when most people retire at 65+) that still makes the point of half make less than 35k. The median is from full time employed people. Also someone driving for Uber who makes 60k gets counted as making 60k when a lot of that goes towards work expenses like gas and car maintenance.

Only 46% of the population are working. https://www.minneapolisfed.org/article/2022/whos-not-working-in-the-us-learn-the-basics So technically, technically the quote is correct. The stat you are quoting is the median salary of someone working full-time is $58,001. So it leaves out all those people un and underemployed or who just gave up on joining the workforce. Idk where you got the 40,480 because your link just goes to a broken link. Millennials are also making less money are less likely to be married and have higher unemployment numbers than gen x so our numbers would be more screwed than the overall median which is what the original tweet was referencing when saying stop asking us about buying houses or having kids.

No that's not the message, the message is if he doesn't listen to the people he won't win the election. It's a scary precedent to set that if the Democratic party doesn't listen to +70% of it's people and he still gets elected simply because the other side is worse when would they listen to their voters? The other side is always worse at least since I've been following politics(since Bill Clinton). They always use that to excuse their inaction because they think voters will be too afraid of the opposition to question it. This is a clear message and for the reason to stop a genocide. If now is not a time to take a stand idk when will be.

The message is he'll lose the election if he doesn't change his stance. So if he has received it and chose to ignore it then why is he running. Either he doesn't believe the threat or he doesn't want to win.

Im only 4 episodes in so I can't give a full review but I think the problem is there were some choices that were made that ruined the heart of what was good about the show. Uncle iroh and saka are not funny at all. I just saw the 4th episode which has the caves of omashu and the singing hippies were hilarious but got mostly removed. It's like they think laughing would cheapen then shows seriousness or something. There is no love connection between aang and katara. And they added a bunch of storyline from season 2 for some reason.
With the hurricane approaching and now some projections show it passing over Vegas could the hurricane fill lake Mead? Is there enough rainfall in a hurricane to fill that large of a lake.
