Usually the news only concern the instance's users. If you want to find announcements, the community is often named either meta or main.
But maybe a common place for instance status announcements isn't such a bad idea.

The instance admin is working on migrating the server as we speak. It'll be back up sooner or later.
Skelectus 3 months ago • 100%
You can't move it even with admin access, because it will break it for other instances that expect the old domain.
Theoretically it could be "safe" to manually copy local content made by local users, but I wouldn't dare to attempt it.

I don't like that all art is just "content." I can believe that the cost of creating "content" really is near-zero, but "content" isn't the kind of music I look for. I spend effort trying to appreciate the craft and understand it, so "content" kind of defeats the point.

There are a couple things.
Might be that I'm still used to old photon, but point A has been bothering me. I keep looking at the wrong side first.
The other thing has been that Home was moved away from the sidebar, where all the other "browse x" buttons are. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, all/subscribed might deserve their own buttons there.
The new layout as-is seems like an improvement for mobile, though I haven't spent much time to properly try it on my phone.
Oh, and, now that I'm here, thanks for all the effort. Photon is just excellent.

Why should it be illegal to not sell your things to people, as long as the reason isn't discrimination?

It also makes the owners feel like they're in an exclusive club.

Y'know, I was just going to mention Fandom. I have no idea how well this will work for Wikipedia, but I know something like this can work great for games.
Fandom is straight up harmful to game communities, and I think federation makes a lot of sense with per-game / series / etc. instances.
I'll look at this a bit more later, quite interesting idea.

I joined fediseer with this lemmy instance. I don't know what's going to happen with your self-built software, but getting a guarantee is easy, if your instance looks credible. I'm not aware of anyone that uses it as a filter at this point either.
Anyway, this is an awesome project. If you keep working on it and need a fediseer guarantor for the site, I'm happy to do that.

As I looked at documentation, I had the thought of using lemmy as a news/update feed. I made a quick godot project that can fetch a community feed and open posts.
Photogrammetry allows generating 3D data from images. Free photogrammetry software: - [Meshroom](https://alicevision.org/) - I use this. Currently requires Nvidia graphics, [but work is being done on that.](https://github.com/alicevision/AliceVision/issues/439) - More: https://all3dp.com/1/best-photogrammetry-software/
Meshroom. Quality isn't great, but it recognized the shape surprisingly well.
Hi, I've got my instance (the one I'm posting from) running a couple days ago. Everything seems to work, but I notice that the little content I have on my instance can only very rarely be found from other instances. I installed lemmy with the ansible method, but is there something I should still look at myself? Thanks.
