I've been following this Instagram "OfficialStickReviews" for longer than I've known about this Lemmy Instance. So I'm going to share it, because we have similar interests, you and I. www.instagram.com

They are definitely less discriminating than you are. They'll accept many inferior sticks. They also sometimes will have "stick babes" who show up with any old stick just to boost their profiles or something. But there are some gems from all over the world, and I often spend a long time browsing there.

My buddy's stick, found years ago as part of a root ball. Bark removed, and cleaned up.

A Fine Stick for a Hike

I found this beauty on a Wednesday hike. Carried it for a few miles before leaving it in the park for the next stick enthusiast.

Straight stick

We went outside with another couple and their daughter. She found this nice stick but my son wanted to have it. They fought a bit pulling on the stick and I guess the 3 years old decided that she will be the bigger person and let my 15 month old have the stick. It's very straight and dry. He kept it almost all the way to home. But sadly lost it once he became too tired to walk. I was walking behind him and took it with us for a while but decided to put it down in a good place so someone else could find it and also have some fun with it.

This stick is almost like a pipe

You can't see it very well in the picture but this stick has a hole in it at the top. My son found it on the playground and was carrying it the whole time. His mom didn't understand why he is so obsessed with this stick. Actually he had two in the beginning but threw away the other one but kept this one. I tried to explain to his mom why this stick is cool but she kept saying she doesn't get it.

Walking stick for your hike! https://sh.itjust.works/pictrs/image/398f0926-db21-4324-9c66-31a30455098f.jpeg

Just make sure to return them when you're done! Maybe even add a new one if you find one. The one I used was very nice. Has a nice heft all the way down, and was very straight.

My daughter is a stick enthuasiast

Hello fellow lemmings, I'm glad to have discovered this magnificent sub community, and it made me think of a recent hike with my little spawn. During the rather long for her, 2 hourish and 4000 step hike, she kept collecting sticks from the ground and regularly dropping the least favorite ones to make more space in her little hands. I'm not sure where I'm going with this story, but just wanted to say hello and I'm glad this community exists. I hope you'll stick around (badum-tss)

Disclaimer: only when fresh and not store-bought, only when untouched by all other buns, and only when smaller than 1" diameter. Otherwise they are only to be ignored until the hooman gives up and tosses them out. Video: https://imgur.com/gallery/xtUTaVp

Meme post on Lemmy a few weeks back basically asked "what's with men and sticks?"

Meme post on Lemmy a few weeks back basically asked "what's with men and sticks?" Many enthusiastic comments and posts followed, showing off some actually quite impressive sticks. Now there's a whole stick enthusiasts community [@stick](https://sh.itjust.works/c/stick) and I find myself keeping an eye out for good ones whenever I'm outside just in case. This sort of thing is why the internet is actually great. STICK 2.0: Keep it forever

Hello my fellow Stick Enthusiasts! Now that you have found your stick (or rather, your stick found YOU), you may be asking yourself, “What do I do with this sweet stick?” ANSWER: Keep it forever. Here is my sweet piece of life lumber. Probably mulberry, found after an overgrown field was mowed down just days prior. I scraped off the outer layer of bark, revealing that nice inner brown layer. Shallow cuts through the brown inner back provide this masterpiece with its characteristic look. Tapering downward from it’s perfect hand hold just under it’s bulb, it feels perfect to me, even after 30 years together. A thin layer of spar urethane every 10 years will keep this beauty with me until the very end. And when that time comes, it will go in the box with me. STICK STATS: 59.5” long, 1.75” bulb, .75” at tip. Strong, with just the right amount of flex and balance. Weight: perfect.
