World Liberty has not officially unveiled its plans for a cryptocurrency, but the white paper reviewed by CoinDesk suggested that the project will eventually sell a governance token called WLFI.

According to the document, the Ethereum-based WLFI token will be non-transferable, meaning it won't be possible to trade on the blockchain, but holders will be able to use it to vote on changes to World Liberty's development roadmap.

So you buy it, and then you can't sell it. A+, because anyone who's gonna buy this is going to see "Ethereum-based" and assume the opposite. I wonder if this will be the wakeup call 🤔

... Who am I kidding, MAGAts can't wake up. The shock would kill them, at this point.

    https://rightsafrica.com/2024/03/30/what-does-senegals-new-president-have-in-store-for-lgbtq-people/

He's not going to turn Senegal into a liberal paradise; his party and policies sound to be more of the same homophobia. But it seems like he will actually try to end the corruption and put the country on the track to independence rather than looting it like Sall. Secularity is a cornerstone of the party, which is an important first step. Here's hoping Senegal is on its way up!

People seemed to forget what a ghoul Mitt Romney is too, the instant he denounced Trump that one time. It's weird, right? And, just because it's always relevant: Dick Cheney can fuck all the way off.

Do you think it could be because there was some semblance of following the rules when those fuckers were being awful (even if those were rules they changed so recently the ink was still wet, ahem definitionoftorture ahemhem), compared to the outright lawlessness of this lot?

Fascism is against your own people, colonialism is against other peoples. It's got nothing to do with skin colour, it just so happens that a lot of colonialism we learn about nowadays was done by western nations like the UK and US. Or would you argue Saddam Hussein wasn't a fascist? How about Plínio Salgado?

Interesting that you didn't notice all the Republicans pissed off that it got killed over stupid infighting, which might be confused with some kind of strategy on the Democrat's part to highlight just where MAGA's gonna get them.

Now, from what I've read of your posts here, none of it actually matters to you - you're going to keep banging on about how both sides are the same by bringing up how they're similar as if the similarities prove you right, and ignoring every difference as though they don't contradict you, so I'm not going to bother going any further with this. If you have a vote, I already know that you're gonna make damn sure it's a vote for Trump - even if you end up not voting at all. So thanks for that.

I miss ranked choice voting from Australia. Colorado has it on the ballot this year, hopefully it'll pass there and the rest of the nation will follow suit. Then agitating like this will actually mean something.

I take it you didn't notice what happened after Republicans killed that bill?

But because I don't entirely disagree with you, I'll give you a better one: why is the Biden administration trying to remove protections from gray wolf populations, which were first removed by Trump? https://apnews.com/article/gray-wolves-protections-biden-trump-81084b1bba499d444950f8294880c524

This is widely perceived as a bad idea. Also Gaza, but that's getting plenty of press anyway and sounds a little one-note at this point. More people need to know about the wolves.

Oh yes, women need to understand this isn't okay. Fucking Jesus fucking wept, was this dickwipe trying to win Tone-Deaf Asshole Of The Century award?

Well that's good news indeed! You can see if the strips might help with the snoring you do experience by performing "Cottle's Maneuver": https://www.ashfordclinic.com/blog/what-is-cottle-s-maneuver

You can try it when one side of your nose gets blocked too, to see if the steps would alleviate that as well, if you don't do that already. I've used it my whole life and didn't know it was a "thing" until my ENT showed me it and named it.

Shit, you're right. The only recourse here is a suit against FedEx I think, from anyone who's had money stolen, and it would have to be based in how they present themselves as a mail carrier such that the average consumer thinks their mail is protected when it's not. Risky.

That actually gets around my questions above nicely. Moving Mjølnir ≠ using Mjølnir. If the hammer can be moved by natural forces, it's just a chunk of metal - it won't have the devastating impact it does when Thor throws it.

And I guess if Thor woke up and called the hammer back, it'd go regardless of natural forces acting on it.

Uru is a metal ore from the first moon in existence, and has existed since the beginning of the universe, being said to be rubble from the rock of creation and the strongest substance in all the realms. It is purportedly unique to Nidavellir, one of the Ten Worlds. It resembles stone, but it also appears to have metallic properties.

Edit: I think I found a good answer below. Even if natural forces could lift Mjølnir, the enchantment would not be in effect - getting beaned by a 40-something pound chunk of metal would still hurt, but it wouldn't hit as hard as it does when Thor uses it.

Ah, but Magneto's not the one lifting the hammer - he's directing magnetic fields that are doing the lifting!

So, could the wind pick up Thor's hammer, if it were strong enough? How about changes in gravity - is Mjølnir as hard to pick up on the moon as at the surface of the Arctic ocean (Earth's highest-gravity location, I couldn't find coordinates)?

If so, then I ask: is the magic of the hammer smart enough to know the difference between a primal force and a primal force that's doing someone a favour?

I mean, first, blocking off one of your two major airways for a period of 8 hours while you're unconscious sounds like a fantastic way to get suffocated. Doubly so if you have problems with the remaining airway (which of course you do or you wouldn't be considering this in the first place).

If you snore, "nasal dilators" might be effective: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nasal_strip

They also have been shown to reduce snoring loudness and improve quality of sleep.

But it depends where in your nasal passage the blockage is. Before I got my septoplasty I didn't snore much but I found my nose would block up when I lay down; if I rolled over it would clear one side. That's the "turbinates" in the nose filling with blood (which is usually due to histamine response as I understand it). The strips pull the nasal passages open from the outside, so you should have a little space to breathe even with fully-engorged turbinates.

They're not very expensive, I don't think. The only downside is that the adhesive might irritate your skin, but that's true of taping your mouth, too.

You might also want to get a sleep study done to see if a CPAP would work for you. I know several people who suffer really bad sleep apnoea and all of them said the CPAP gave them the most restful (and quiet) sleep of their life.

Whatever the weather, good luck! Getting shitty sleep makes everything else in your life far harder than it should be. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

I think the delivery might be the problem more than the message, based on this anyway. But you're not really wrong. Food, clothing, shelter - these are all things you have to obtain, or die. Not so much the case with concert tickets or video games.

Also, that avidamoeba person you replied to wasn't saying concert tickets are a fundamental right, they're saying that prices would go up even if people stop buying, because it's a monopoly and monopolies usually require a government to break up.

It's not a boycott. Boycotts don't work because they appeal to and are based in emotion. I'm appealing to your wallet. If you can't afford concert tickets, don't buy them. Don't go without something you need to make it work, don't use credit. Just don't buy, like you don't buy a new car every few years or how you don't buy a gold-plated snickerdoodle or whatever.

Otherwise, the company is right and people will pay a lot more for the product, so they'd think themselves crazy not to raise the price.

There's is a simple solution to this: stop buying concert tickets. I know, I know - who wouldn't want to get together with thousands of other people in a tiny space and listen to the same music together, feel the same beats, breathe the same air, share the same pathogens... Sounds great.

But this is how price exploration works (which in a monopoly looks a lot like price gouging). You have a product and want to make more money, so you double (often less, this is a simplification) your prices thinking if it's too much people will stop buying and you'll have a sale or drop prices back to what they were. But people keep buying your product, so of course you're going to keep the price the same even if you get a couple of dirty looks. So after a bit you reason if people are willing to pay 2x for it, maybe they'll pay 2.5x or 3x, so you try it, and it works... Rinse and repeat.

The only way to break the cycle is legislation (not likely, but more consumer protections would of course be welcome) or to stop buying.

There are alarm clocks that have a lamp built in, and instead of a loud alarm they play things like birdsong and rushing water at increasing volumes while brightening up the lamp to simulate dawn. I much prefer that to a nuclear launch siren, when I have to use an alarm. I don't like to post shopping links because I'm not an ad machine, but if you search around for "gentle wakeup alarm light" you'll definitely find some.

I had my best run going in over 280 hours. I had a homing rock wand, infinite spells and vampirism (infinite healing with the oceans of blood from corpses, not to mention grinding up the meat realm), an unmolested potion shop in the mines, and so many hearts I had 451 health *with Vampirism*. A fast teleport wand, a black hole wand I could have used to dig to parallel worlds eventually. I had killed The Alchemist and the Meat Realm boss with my sick homing quantum-split plasma beams on a Sparkbolt + Trigger. This hits hard 'cause I was one of the fans so hopeful that *Starbound* would be *Terraria 2 (In Space)*, and backed it on Kickstarter. The presentation is a bit editorial at times, but I feel it's a pretty good overview of the game and the context surrounding its development, hype, and downfall.

[Game] I didn't want this to go to "waste" 🥁 https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/f1fba071-cf6a-49b6-937d-f745b521723a.webm

A GIF of the human "success" animation for researching Core Waste Dumps, from the game "Master of Orion 2: Battle At Antares". I actually played a game all the way through to this point to get the footage, as I didn't have it on any of my games in progress at the moment. Not only that, but the post I made it for got buried under downvotes, so nobody'd ever see it if I only posted it there. I hope other enjoyers of this sci-fi 4X classic find a pleasant dose of nostaligia in it 🖖
