Well, this thread has strengthened my desire to adopt a teen from foster care. I technically have/had a family but they were more like roommates than parents. Left at 18 and never looked back. Had my share of lonely holidays that I would dread when they came around. I'm not trying to say I've had the same story as those here, but I get some parts of it really well. I'm finally at a place where maybe I can prevent that from happening to someone else.

You're not alone. I tried reading them and the premise was something I could get behind but the way it was written drove me crazy. I agree that if they had a better translator to make it sound more native English, I probably would have been fine with it. Bit as it stands it sounded very Chinese still. I'm hoping the show will solve that problem for us.

Yeah, given my druthers I'd rather summer time, but that seems unlikely happen any time soon. So honestly, I'll be happy if we no longer have to change clocks twice a year regardless of which we align with.

How about none of the above since they're all right of center?

If you want to dip your toes, go with something easy. Pop_os or Linux Mint are the two most often suggested. Lesser offered but with a Mac OS feel is Elementary.

I think your answer also explains why they're so angry about white people no longer being the majority. They're scared they'll be treated how they've been treating everyone else.

Pop_os is a good choice. It's a solid distro and a good introduction to Linux. You can distro hop later, start with something easy for now. I installed it as a dual boot in case I needed Windows for something, but this is the first distro I haven't felt the need to switch back.

Started in college with Mandrake Linux. Used it off and on over the years, though I kept switching back. I recently settled on Pop_OS. Part of what kept me switching back was not having the time to tinker with it. Now that it mostly works, it's become my daily driver.

Depending on your note taking needs, if Obsidian is too much, you could do the same with Notable/Noteless and Syncthing.

If this happens, will it be a mass exodus to Linux/Mac? Or will people just live with it? The fact that the Steam Deck has shown great promise in playing games on Linux has made me reconsider Windows yet again.
A victory for the RCV campaign in November 2024 would be a significant breakthrough for voting justice, as it would liberate voters in Oregon from being required to vote for just one candidate.
I recently discovered that [bridges](https://matrix.org/ecosystem/bridges/) exist on Matrix allowing you to communicate with others on different platforms. I would love to make use of this, but I lack the technical abilities to spin up my own server… at least not without a step-by-step for noobs. Does anyone know of a server that's open to join that has bridges available to use? I tried joining a few open servers, but they didn't seem to have bridges enabled/installed. Or barring that some reasonably priced turnkey service? I saw one that was $22/mo for up to 50 users, but that seems a bit much for just me.
