Some of Hitler's bodyguards said that Hitler was a fan of Chaplin. There's speculation (but not evidence) that he borrowed it because he liked Chaplin

Meetups and clubs based around certain interests have worked well for me.
Examples: writing clubs, chess clubs, book clubs, hiking clubs, debate clubs, etc.
I have trouble at parties where I have to find things to talk about with people I don't know, but at interest clubs then we're all there for the same purpose and there's a clear thing to talk about! If you hit it off with anyone, then you can begin hanging out outside of the club

Thank you! I've tried setting up CoD: Black Ops, both DODI and FitGirl repacks and have had issues. I will try following these steps, thanks

That is actually pretty funny. I'm surprised your subconscious brain was actually able to come up with a verse that 1) rhymed 2) made sense 3) is relevant.
Maybe you could try freestyling.

They do actually appear the same size in the sky though, which is why we get perfect eclipses. The Moon is slowly getting further away from Earth so it won't be forever. We're just in a lucky moment of time in the universe.
It really is just a coincidence.

Thanks for your reply. Here are my specs and I've added them to the post:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. X570S GAMING X
- RAM: 32 GiB
- CPU: AMD® Ryzen 9 5900x 12-core processor × 24
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti
I'm not sure what dkms
is but I just Googled it and it looks like it's related to AMD, is that right? I have an NVIDIA GPU so it might not be relevant.
I ran sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
like you suggested and then tried updating some components while doing something in my browser. It seems promising so far, thanks! I'll need to do more updates to know for sure though
Whenever I update a package or the system via the Pop! Shop, or downloading a game or updates from Steam, my desktop constantly freezes and hangs. It works perfectly fine otherwise. I was wondering whether this was common behaviour. It's a bit frustrating because it means I have to pick my moments to update to be when I can go do something else for a while and come back. If I'm on a Discord call and am doing an update or downloading a game on steam, the freezes mean that my friends can't hear me and I can't hear them. I've tried Googling it but haven't found anyone with this specific issue yet. I run a medium-power gaming desktop rig. Any advice on how to fix or improve this? Update: Here are my hardware specs. Sorry for not including them earlier; I was at work when I posted this. - Motherboard: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. The likely reason they say to not view through a window is because you won't get any vitamin D through a window and it also reduces the brightness compared to being outside. Get the app Lux on your phone which can measure brightness and it's a phenomenal difference how much brighter it is outside without really seeming like it

Metro 2033 redux and COD WaW custom zombies. Haven't been in a big gaming mood recently and want something easy and fun. I enjoy the short chapters and fun gameplay and world building of the Metro games, this is my second playthrough. COD custom zombies is just fun and relaxing when playing easy maps and you can stop at any time

I recently started learning and playing poker, and I mostly play with fake money. Here's what I've used so far:
Pokerstars and GGPoker both have fake money options that you can play without depositing money. I used Pokerstars for a while as it was the only client I could get working on Linux (using bottles). They both have good mobile apps. I prefer GGPoker's interface so I've been using my Windows dual boot to play that when I want to on my computer.
Poker Brawl is a phone app where you can play correspondence heads-up poker with an ELO rating system. It's correspondence , so you only have to make a move once every three days. It's heads-up only, though.
I've found playing on real poker platforms with fake money to be best in terms of somewhat emulating real poker in terms of player behavior.
Feel free to comment with any questions and I'll try to help

This anti lawn tirade is kinda anti-kid to a degree.
I see where you're coming from, but I'd argue that more public parks with playgrounds and fields to play on is better than lawns. In some places that's not prioritised, possibly where you are, and so it sounds great what you have going on!
But if there are enough public parks for kids to play at, then lawns just end up being wasted space that could instead be a garden or have native plants that help the native wildlife, or something like that.
I don't know anyone that actually uses their lawn for anything... Some people might host BBQs or stuff like that, in which case I don't mind. In my view, if it gets used, great! But most of the time they don't and they just suck up water resources and petrol on mowing with no real benefit

New Zealand definitely has western influence, but at least we have MMP voting instead of First Past the Post, so we don't have as strong of a two-party system. We also have a cost of living crisis but so does every western country. Our generally reasonable politics is one of the reasons why I'm not interested in moving to another country when so many of my friends are moving to Australia or the UK for higher salaries

Deafness covers a broad spectrum of hearing difficulty, not just completely deaf. Most people that identify as deaf still have some hearing. I always forget that and had the same question as you until I read a comment further down.
It's likely that the person isn't fully deaf and so can still hear some music, but deaf enough that they can't understand the lyrics. Having the ability to view the lyrics in real time is handy rather than having to search them up all the time. Spotify also shows what lyric is currently being sung in real time, whereas you can't get that with a Google search.

Mine is OOO for Out Of Office. I always misread it in my head like a ghost and it takes me a few seconds to process. It also doesn't translate to speech—you have to say the whole thing. Interested to see if others have similar acronyms they beef with.
Hi, I recently moved apartment and started skateboarding to work. I have a nickel board, so more for cruising than tricks. My question is: what's the best way to slow down and stop on sidewalks? I've watched several YouTube videos about different techniques for slowing down and stopping, but they tended to assume an environment with more room and smooth ground. Where I ride, it's a sidewalk with cracks and leaves and changing terrain. It is also somewhat hilly so I really need a way to slow down on sustained (not steep though) downhills. One of the best techniques I found was called pumping, basically the opposite of pushing. This works well on any terrain and on skinny sidewalks. However, it's really hard on my ankles, and I actually made my right ankle swollen. So I figured I need a better way. I don't particularly want to use techniques that scrape my shoes. And I'm not sure powerslides are the best idea on the uneven terrain. Surely there's something better than just dismounting? Do I have to ride on the road to do powerslides? I would greatly appreciate any and all advice!! I'm quite new to this so anything is helpful
