There is that (probably untrue) theory that the main reason he bought Twitter was because at the time, Twitter wouldn’t ban the ElonJet tracking account. Were that the case, it would kinda/sorta make sense that he’s want to kill the platform.

Seconded. Good stuff that A) you can actually find without heading to some weird chocolate boutique and B) you can feel marginally better about buying because they really try to make sure their supply chain is as fair as possible.

Neil Gaiman. The man can write novels, YA novels, graphic novels, children’s books. And they all have such well crafted worlds that you just want to lose yourself in them.
I also think Neal Stephenson and Corey Doctorow deserve WAY more attention than they get.

I’ve been playing around with both the BennVenn MBC3000 and the Funnyplaying MidnightTrace GB/GBC FLASH CART. I’ve heard the FP v1 had a design flaw that necessitated the V2. I’ve tried both versions and can’t tell any functional differences when playing games. The BV is (like most of his stuff) a shockingly good value.

As much as I hate ads, you’re probably right about it being a big part of their current woes. I can’t imagine that the frequency license owners are going to make that much more money with a new alternative station.
FTA: “WWCD/CD 92.9 is planning to remain a part of the central Ohio community,” he wrote. “Whether that's on the air, online, or a combination of the two remains to be seen, and we're working around the clock to find a solution. In the meantime, let’s celebrate and cherish these nine days we know we have.”
>Longtime Super Mario Kart hacker MrL314 calls Resident Evil Kart "the worst thing I have ever created," and it's not hard to see why. As implied by the title, the ROM patch replaces Super Mario Kart's usual over-the-shoulder tracking camera with something more akin to the awkward fixed-angle "perspective shots" of the original PlayStation 1 Resident Evil games. The perspective automatically jumps between these fixed cameras around the track as your racer moves from section to section, forcing you to judge turns and obstacles from very skewed angles.

I’ve never really understood this approach. If my work laptop prevents me from doing work, I open a ticket, cc my boss, and move on with my life. I’ve got enough other stuff to do and why take on the risk associated with circumventing company security controls just to get that TPS report in on time? I’ve got documentation showing that I tried and couldn’t complete the work because of the security control.

This is my boomer MIL. She is honestly one of the kindest people I know. . She votes pro-environment/pro-social issues and has given (almost beyond her means) everything she can to virtually anyone who needs it. She has almost nothing left, and is a stones throw from couch surfing. I have no idea what’ll happen when her health starts to fail. As frustrated as I am with boomers, I try to remember her and the good she has tried to bring about in the world.

It’s not that powerful of a jet of water. I mean, I’m sure there is some, but if you’re doing it right, only the parts you want to get wet are getting wet. Besides, the alternative is like using a paper towel to clean peanut butter from a shag carpet.

I’ll second the idea that boredom isn’t always bad, and that it can often lead to new ideas and experiences. But if you really feel the need to do something for the person, try gifting experiences like food tours, trial hobbies or sports (curling, photography, etc).

They could start by at least following the same rules every other federal judge must follow. The fact that they don’t simply agree to those rules and then work on strengthening the rules for members of the highest court in the land shows how disingenuous Kavanaugh’s claims are.

That we all accept that working our butts off for at least 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with only around 2 weeks of vacation a year in the hopes that we can save just enough to retire at 65+ is normal. The social contract is broken, and everyone except the top 1% of earners is paying the price.

LTT has always felt too smug for my tastes. Particularly Linus himself. It’s to the point that none of the revelations coming out about LMG and their internal drama is particularly surprising. It’s exactly the kind of behavior I’d expect from a “we can do no wrong” kind of group.

I once heard a theory once that most boomers are “the way they are” because of the amount of lead they all were exposed to due leaded gasoline. The three most common effects of long term lead exposure are developmental delay, learning difficulties, and irritability. Zero evidence of course, but it sure would explain a lot.

Honestly, I wonder if I’ll go back to Pi devices. It’s so much easier and cheaper to buy a used small form factor device from eBay and install Linux. I think the Pi Foundation really shot themselves in the foot with their shift away from the hobbies. I know they claim they focused on “small companies making a livelihood using Pi’s” but I saw too many examples of small orgs that simply sold their inventory at a massive price increase rather than actually using the pi’s for a real purpose. I’ve lost a lot of respect for the Pi Foundation and it’ll take more than getting throngs “back to normal” for them to regain my trust.
