I grew up with it, at school we would use the CMS keyboard but at home we had ANSI keyboards, so all my homework was done on that keyboard using an fr-ca layout. You just eventually re-map the keys in your head.

I'm French Canadian. I just use a US keyboard and learned where the French keys are on the frca layout and I don't need to look at the keyboard. I've gotten so good that typing on a CMS keyboard is awkward for me.

I really love Kagi, it's been worth the money for me!
I can block results, re-order result priority, enable or disable any feature I want, and their AI summary feature is actually good and is locked behind a click (Quick Answer) so it doesn't trigger on every search. Also obviously no ads and no tracking.

Good S0ix support. At the moment, Linux mostly fails to sleep correctly on modern S0ix laptops, which happens to be most modern laptops.
This means the battery drains incredibly fast, and S0ix features aren't being used, which is unfortunate as it has potential for quick wake, lid closed actions and limiting battery drain while asleep (since S0ix can eventually hibernate automatically from a sleep state)
Also the boot loader could be improved, systemd-boot needs to support secure boot natively so we can be rid of the slow, ancient and scary-looking GRUB.

Nah, I don't want to risk accidentally getting a codec-less version, they never worked for their intended purpose in my experience, they're basically bricked.
Mind you, the vast majority (if not the entirety) of what I interact with uses non-free codecs.
I honestly kinda wish someone made Fedora, exactly as it is, with the exception that it has non-free codecs pre-installed and available without having to faff.

Hello! As per the title, I think it would be really useful to have an automatic upload and attachment of any items over the 25MB limit to Proton Drive. This is something I sorely miss from Gmail which makes sending some types of emails a pain as I have to first upload it to Drive, create a public link, keep track of all my publicly shared files, and make sure the link works before placing it awkwardly in my email.

Hello! As per the title, Proton Calendar for Android does not appear to support multiple signed in accounts. This means I can only get notifications for personal appointments or client meetings, but not both, and the web version never prompts to enable notifications on Android. I am thus liable to miss events on whichever calendar I am not currently signed into. This is not an acceptable level of support for a professional suite. Is there a roadmap for when this feature will be added?
A family member was recently a victim of a hit and run on her parked car. We know there is evidence that is easy to get, but MPI is refusing to work with us. A police report was filed, there were eye witnesses, the suspect visited a weed store, got carded there, bought weed, and then performed the hit and run in full view of their camera system with their plate fully visible. The weed store knows who it is. However, MPI is showing little interest in actually investigating, and this means the victim will have to pay the $200 deductible for something that wasn't their fault and is easily solvable. They keep pressuring MPI at every call that there is evidence and they just have to go get it (as I actually walked into the weed store to ask questions and asked them to keep aside the video evidence, one of their employees was also hit), but so far they have done nothing. Does anyone know of a process that would push MPI to actually investigate such a thing? TIA
I know this because I use SimpleLogin to provide each service with its own specialized email address. You can see in the picture the address starts with bixi@sl.\*\*\* It's also possible but unlikely that they sold user data.
On Android, I noticed two major features that are missing that make it extremely difficult to use the mobile version for me: 1. I can't add inline attachments. This makes communicating with clients and pointing at stuff impossible on mobile. 2. I can't browse existing attachments to view and remove them. This means I have to start my reply all over again and delete the draft if I uploaded the wrong thing, and I can't validate that I did upload the right thing. Also, pasting into a message body is broken on the beta, but working on stable (the only option is "select all") There's also no rich text, which is sometimes painful when writing long emails on the go, and it means I can't bold stuff to indicate importance. I also had issues with sent emails from drafts where a draft was created on mobile, finished on the web and sent, the mobile client will show as if I had sent the unfinished mobile draft, which sent me into a panic last night haha.
what the hell does this mean

Seems like a really basic feature, I can't paste / add inline images on the Android email client, my only option is to attach images and hope the recipient thinks to click on the attachment. I can't think of another email client that is this basic.

![](https://lemmy.ca/pictrs/image/c34e61a6-e7d4-48bc-b21a-93d8be0c48fb.png) Today's culprit is... Jello's Chocolate Pudding! Oh wait, no, "pudding snacks", whatever in the label-regulation-dodging fuck that means. Posting here because this has quickly become a very common shrinkflation tactic where the manufacturer substitutes fructose/sucrose in their main product with the cheaper aspartame and stevia and calls it "healthy". There is no sucrose-only version of this product anymore. However, these shrinkflated products taste bitter, unsweetened and are completely unappetizing to me. So I end up having to look at labels very carefully (usually some thin text at the bottom of the label) to make sure they didn't sneak in some artificial sweetener. The strangest part is I haven't seen or heard of anyone complaining about it, are we in the minority of people for who artificial sweeteners are bitter, like Cilantro that tastes like soap? Both me and my partner find it bitter and unappetizing in any product, but only I have the "cilantro gene". I did find these articles on the topic: https://www.phillymag.com/be-well-philly/2013/08/22/study-fake-sweeteners-taste-disgusting-people/ (the source link is dead, here's a wayback machine link: https://web.archive.org/web/20130826013630/http://www.futurity.org/top-stories/why-fake-sweeteners-can-taste-funky/) https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/05/120531102334.htm
Hello! As per the title, one feature I miss from Gmail and similar is the ability to automatically upload files greater than 25mb to a cloud destination. I wonder if it's already possible and I've simply missed it, or if it's in the works. This would have the added benefit of giving purpose to my Proton Drive, which sits useless and empty as a Linux user as I can't really sync it to anything besides my phone.
Hello! Fedora 39, I've been stumped by this issue for a long time. I have 4 DDR4 sets of 8 GB G.SKILL Trident Z RGB. I tried the latest Flatpak, RPM as well as building the `master` branch for source, but every version can't find Trident Z in the "Supported Devices" section, and it doesn't show up under Devices. I validated that the i2c modules were loaded, and the udev rules were put in place, both using the RPM and by running the script provided over at https://openrgb.org/udev.html When running OpenRGB, in the terminal, I get: ``` [i2c_smbus_linux] Failed to read i2c device PCI device ID ``` even when running as `sudo`. My motherboard is an AORUS X470 ULTRA GAMING (cringe name, I know), if it makes any difference for i2c support. As a side note, this motherboard has RGB, but it's not detected in OpenRGB. I think it should be supported, and I see it when running `openrgb --list-devices -vv`, but maybe the revision is wrong. ``` [Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2 SMBus] Success - Found 'X470 AORUS ULTRA GAMING-CF' in the JSON list [Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2 SMBus] Bus 02 is not a motherboard or the subvendor does not match the one for Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd., skipping detection [Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2 SMBus] Bus 06 is not a motherboard or the subvendor does not match the one for Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd., skipping detection [Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2 SMBus] no devices found [Gigabyte RGB Fusion 2 SMBus] detection end ``` Please let me know if further details are required. TIA!
