How was this pulled off? Here are the theories From CNN's Christian Edwards
Experts have shared two competing theories as to how hundreds of pagers could have exploded simultaneously.
One theory is that there was a cybersecurity breach, causing the pagers’ lithium batteries to overheat and detonate.
Another is that this was a “supply chain attack,” where the pagers were tampered with during the manufacturing and shipping process.
David Kennedy, a former US National Security Agency intelligence analyst, told CNN that the explosions seen in videos shared online appear to be “too large for this to be a remote and direct hack that would overload the pager and cause a lithium battery explosion.”
Kennedy said he found the second theory to be more plausible.
“It’s more likely that Israel had human operatives… in Hezbollah… The pagers would have been implanted with explosives and likely only to detonate when a certain message was received,” he said.
“The complexity needed to pull this off is incredible. It would have required many different intelligence components and execution. Human intelligence (HUMINT) would be the main method used to pull this off, along with intercepting the supply chain in order to make modifications to the pagers,” he added.

This is nice! I've replaced some little tools with this. What it can't seem to do though is pixelate a specified area of an image, unless I've missed how to do that? It only seems to do the whole image.

> The UK government has agreed to take control of the National Grid unit tasked with keeping the lights on in a £630m deal that takes effect from next month. > Great Britain’s electricity system operator (ESO) will be transferred into public ownership to create a new national energy system operator (Neso), which will also oversee the gas system. > The government hopes that by bringing together the separate units involved in planning Great Britain’s electricity and gas networks under one publicly owned company, the system operator can adopt a more strategic approach to achieving a net zero energy system by 2030. [...] > The decision to remove the ESO from National Grid’s ownership was made under the previous Conservative government because of concerns over a conflict of interest relating to the operator’s role providing strategic advice to government officials. The deal was expected to take place in July this year but it was delayed until 1 October because of the general election. So this was going to happen anyway?

It looks a bit too defined to be a mountain peak, although it seems a logical suggestion. Anyway, I enjoyed this bit:
In July retired chef Richard Grieve said that he had worked with the two hikers who took the Calvine pictures at a hotel in Calvine, and that a few days after the sighting a "dark car" allegedly pulled up and two people dressed in black suits emerged, to have a "chat" with the two men.
He recalled that they were "visibly shaken" by the approach and their behaviour changed with them often not turning up for work and one began drinking heavily.

(just re-posting from the other thread - so ignore if you've already read!)
It's a TRV head. You can unscrew it with the ring under the black area - may need an adjustable spanner to loosen. When you take it off, see if the rotation works and that the pin inside moves up and down. You can also check the metal pin/valve where it attaches isn't stuck (it may need quite a bit of force to check - could need whacking with a hammer if it's actually stuck). If everything seems OK, re-attach the head and see if it's working. If it isn't, new heads are cheap. What you have looks like what I have - cheap generic TRV heads, easy to find online.

I don't think automatic crossposting is a good idea. However some way to "boost" Mastodon posts onto Lemmy would be good. Mbin has a way of boosting but can't assign a magazine. Something like that may work though. Mastodon can already boost Lemmy posts.

- Increase alarm reset difficulty. The more you have to conciously engage your brain to reset your room to sleep mode, the harder it will be for your brain to automate the snooze button. Put your phone across the room, use an app that continues to scream until you scan a QR code in another room or solve math problems, make a deal with your partner that they get to spray you with cold water unless you correctly answer these riddles three, anything. Make it difficult for your brain to remain in sleep mode when your alarm goes off.
To add to this, you can get alarm clocks that literally run away when they go off so you have to chase or find them, and others that have a bit of a puzzle to solve to switch them off (I suspect there are phone apps that also have the latter, but I've never looked for them)

I have an alarm clock with two alarms on it. The first is radio, at a reasonable volume. The second is beep Beep BEEP with ascending volume. If the first doesn't wake me the second will. Unless I press the off button and fall back to sleep.
I'm amazed the clock with the bell doesn't wake you (if you mean one of the traditional alarm clocks with the bells on?). Those things are LOUD.
As sound isn't working, maybe try one of those "silent alarms" which just turns a light on to help you wake up naturally (I haven't tried these and would definitely have a beeping alarm as a backup!), or something like a Fitbit which can wake you up by buzzing on your wrist (and will adjust when it wakes you to match your sleep cycle)

Apparently deaf from birth people don't make any noise when they sneeze, as they've not heard anybody else do it so don't know they "should".^[I heard this from years ago; don't know how true it is] I'm not a particularly loud sneezer but it strikes me as odd that any noise at all would be learned behaviour.
Some people do make a lot of noise though, to the point where I'm thinking that it can't all be involuntary.

Yep, it's a PITA to parse and get the values you want. Much prefer JSON. Recently when I needed to parse XML I ran it through an XML to JSON library. Much easier!
If you need to parse XML just for RSS though, it isn't so bad as there are RSS specific libraries which take most of the pain away.

This seems to have surfaced when trying to open an Mbin magazine from Connect (via Lemmy of course), by tapping on them in the subs list (or searching/tapping). If I search for !teletext@fedia.io or !FloatingIsFun@fedia.io they both give this error, so I think it's something to do with Mbin magazines. I haven't seen it happen on Lemmy communities. Hopefully tapping those links will show the error - they do here.
