I have a PhD in economics. Saying that the field "pledges" to be able to predict the future is pretty disingenuous. You'd be hard pressed to find any serious researcher in the field with that level of delusion.

Changelog media is another good source to complement this rec. Longer form, as opposed to breaking news, conversations about many OSS related (and software development in general) topics. Some of their now defunct programs like Request For Commits were some of my favorites.

Not at all. I agree that's what tax funds are for and ought to be spent when necessary. I'm just making a more nuanced point that it's unfortunate that government officials and the justice system not doing a proper job has led to two adverse outcomes.

My point is more about public servants, such as the justice system, government officials, etc. not doing a good job. Everyone loses in this case. I'm not at all against government spending. It's just really unfortunate that (1) this woman's life was ruined and (2) we as a society also have to foot that bill.
hyperreal 2 months ago • 9%
Not to mention, damages paid by governments don't just come out of thin air. Contemporary taxpayers shoulder the burden, in some way, for the misdeeds of previous generations. An unfortunate reality. At the same time, I wholeheartedly agree that this woman deserves some form of additional restitution. It just becomes very tricky who actually bears that cost.

I think because I'm so used to a laptop keyboard, uniform profiles just feel better to me.
- 34 keys, wired ortholinear unibody - WeAct Pi Pico - Choc Silvers (hotswap) - Chicago Steno (all R3) in black resin - simple 3dp tray case (friction fit at the moment) This board is helping me fall back in love with chocs. Going to iterate on the design a bit (want to try wireless, PCB solder nuts, tweaks to the case, etc). Shoutout to the friendly folks on the ergogen server for helping with some firmware questions and build troubleshooting. I tried to get a little too cute with the matrix, trying to save pins even though I was nowhere close to running out. But in the end, works like a charm.

I love how you basically made a TUI by combining existing tools. Doing something useful without reinventing the wheel.

So well done! I just noticed the purple cable. It wouldn't be yours without it.

Just like retro beige in general. I think this set is 21kb, of which I'm a huge fan.

Thank you!! The thumb cluster is so comfortable. Just finished tweaking the firmware and will open source everything shortly
I tried to distill my favorite features of weteor's magnificent Kong for this layout. I loved the thumb cluster but wanted a split 36 key layout. Designed for a pair of socketed purple Pi Picos I had from a previous build. Built with Outemu Cream Yellows.

You don't know why you prefer Archiso?
hyperreal 1 year ago • 100%
Have you checked out the quickstart guide? You need to fork manna_harbour/miryoku_zmk
and use the workflow found in Actions > Build Inputs
.
Personally, I prefer to take manna_harbour's excellent miryoku layout as a basis and write my own keymap, using the existing documentation as a guide. There's alot more trial and error but you'll have a better understanding of how the firmware works when you've got it working. I find the GitHub Actions-based workflow for building firmware overly complicated for my personal use case.

I second this. Until I have a solid use case for archiso, I strongly prefer tracking my dotfiles + installed packages and manually provisioning a fresh install.

Thanks for pointing this out, I had no idea. If someone wants to point me towards an active/popular fork of this repo, I'm happy to add that to this post.
Note: It seems this repo might be a bit out of date. Thanks to [@wiki_me@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/u/wiki_me), some alternatives to consider: - list of [forks](https://techgaun.github.io/active-forks/index.html#leereilly/games) for leereilly/games - [libregames](https://libregamewiki.org/LibreGames) - [OSGL](https://trilarion.github.io/opensourcegames/)

I've been playing around with it some more today so you might want to look at the latest few commits to find something you like best.
Or at least half of it. Finishing up the second half now but I couldn't wait to share. XDA Canvas, Milky Yellows, and a case by the talented NGM Design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4145471

I hear you. I find that some tools work great for me as CLIs (e.g. git, sys admin tools), andothers are more just for fun that I don't find myself using as much as proper apps or web clients (i.e. Spotify, RSS readers, email). It really just depends for me.
I learned about Void recently and really liked some of it's features as a distro (simple packaging system, runit services). Just wanted to hear what others like.

I really only glanced at the routing but be sure to run DRC! Looks like a fun board.
With PBT Notion and NK Creams. What a delightfully wide Ortho board. Many thanks to - weteor for overall [board design](https://github.com/weteor/ChonkyKong) - chewiedies for the [case design](https://www.printables.com/model/485370-chunkykong-gasket-mount-case) (chewie also printed this case and sent me the PCB) All I really had to do was solder on some sockets.

I've been reading some more and I definitely want to give guix a spin. I guess that's the advantage of nix as a tool: you can always install alongside your distro's package manager if desired.
hyperreal 1 year ago • 100%
I'll have to give it a try. There are ways to get non-free software on guix? Is it just not officially part of the distro?
Haven't changed anything major in a while and feeling very productive. Feel free to ask for any details.
- 310mm / 17U wide - WeAct Pi Pico - Choc Robins - ...and that's about it!
[atma](https://github.com/sboysel/atma) - my preferred split keyboard at the moment. Features: - wired ortholinear split - 36 keys - Waveshare RP2040 Zero - Diodeless, reversible PCB - RJ45 for split comms First prototype was my spin on the amazing [skarrmann/janus](https://github.com/skarrmann/janus). Waiting on the second iteration.
