Looks like 2023 will be remembered as the year of big size enshittification. So many companies going to shit. Reddit with restricting API access, Twitter with...everything really, Google with its DRM and now Unity...great year so far, right?

Mark it as busy in the calendar, that might keep them away. If marking the whole day is suspicious, make 1-2 hour marks with 10-20 minute gaps (or longer as long as it doesn't allow sticking a meeting in). Then make these "appointments" weekly and set the subjects(focus time) to private.

If you take out the AI part it still holds true. 2023 is full of bullshit.

This is one of the most popular posts this week here with more than 4 HUNDRED comments. I don't know what you view as a discussion but I think this was a pretty successful attempt at creating one.

It looks like most people don't have enough braincells to do such a simple task. Isn't it just nice to live in a world like this?

Most of the alt templates suck and the og is still good. Why change?
I get why World and many others defederated from Burggit. Obviously it has questionable content which is not great to have stored on big servers for legal reasons. But look at Threads, owned by a company which steals data and causes harm to anyone in any possible way. If you don't see their actions questionable as well and don't see how they are parasites trying to leech on the fediverse and suck everything away then there was no point in defederating from any questionable instances.

The only thing you missed is that the devs actually couldn't keep their own deadline for the api change so until now the 3rd party apps still worked.
Actually people can custom patch the apps with their own api key and they still work. This is how I stay up to date with these news.
Atmosphere on Reddit became quite bizarre nowadays. Users are angry against the mods who kept the subs restricted/private instead of the company itself. The stupidity is insane.

Yeah, came here to say this. The fediverse sites are so diverse that instead of trying to implement everything in one gigaapp it's better to just browse the site in the browser.

OH GOD, THIS IS IT, THANK YOU
I didn't know it would hide my own posts too xD It's logical though
Is it a server issue, maybe someone else has this problem too, or is it local to me somehow? ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/3ebc08b6-8271-495f-97ec-249b122553b7.png)

I already made my first video with it and it reached its audience :)
Haven't found major issues, only some slight problems but I found an alternative solution easily.
Notes mostly for myself when I decide to start playing Rimworld again. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2894425236 - Part 4 Don't forget to check out the linked [Excel](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12mAva1anZribuz6PmNoTJvTq5AdgarPyiB1cd1pFsMg/edit#gid=0)

Thank you! I decided to go with this and the editing goes pretty smoothly so far. There are smaller bumps here and there but at least there is enough tutorials online not to get stuck.

Does anyone know some good video editing programs which don't collapse under their own weight while trying to load a video? I just wanna make some short memes and shitposts!

When I first watched Nichijou it reminded me about this too. I thought the two were similar. But then Nichijou went ahead and improved on everything from jokes to animation. I still think Azumanga Daioh might have inspired it in some ways.

It's definitely possible to be a "support archer". I haven't played archer that much in LoTD so I can't speak about the experience but the mods promise to tweak the archer stats so there are no more sneak kills.
What I realized about the followers is they can be great companions but also hindrances too. Some mod followers (looking at you, Sofia and Recorder) have some voicelines that they repeat ad nauseam and I did have to send Sofia away (the final string was a bug that undressed her in combat and I couldn't force her to wear them again). Sometimes they get in the way and you can't see what you want.
But still, it's mostly fun playing with the followers and your idea is definitely a possibility if you are not going for the crit kills.

It looks really cool but the side margins are waaay too small for my taste. I tried putting some little 1rem margins back in the container css but that gave a bad bottom scrollbar (which is the most annoying on the communities list). It's getting late and there is work tomorrow but I might look into it more later.

This has to be her second most iconic scene (following closely behind OH MY GAH - though this is more like the yellow cat's scene)

Hmm...it definitely changes combat (look up Ultimate Combat + Wildcat), but this is definitely a difficulty-based modpack. Still, with a bunch of followers it's easier, but you can quickly end up being killed in the heat by a bad swing of a warhammer.
Charlie doesn't really like the redditors but I think this video is still good to create more exposure for the current situation.

What is the ratio from the before and after migration server capacity? 1:3, maybe 1:5?

We lemminged it!
denemdenem 1 year ago • 100%
Definitely. All we have is us here and we play a very risky game. If people get hurt they will leave or lurk which is what we DON'T want. So yeah, hopefully there won't be much issue here for a while.
I noticed that some instances put a registration wall behind their communities. If you are registered in instance A, you can search for a specific community in instance B but cannot see the full list of communities there. Is there a workaround (besides asking someone from B to give a list of the instance)?
You can long tap on the username of the thread you want to hide. It was not the most intuitive thing for me but I found it accidentally and maybe I can save you from the searching!
Recently I bought a new laptop which can run tons of mods without problem. A few years ago (before the ideology update) there was some panic that the new updates will break existing mods and the contributors won't keep up. Are mods working in 2023 or did a big percentage of them stop working after ideology or biotech?
Years ago an app named Candid shut down which caused a pretty big uproar in that community. A lot of people panicked because there was no real alternative that featured post anonimity (basically you had an assigned username to a single post and you could start fresh in another). Lots of people migrated to reddit and others to discord and in the end people let go of their need to be fully anonymous. Now with the Lemmy migration people don't even have to give up features this big and actually they are driven away by their hatred towards a platform, not by its non-existance so it can be more convenient even if there are some things we have to learn here.
For me it's these 3: - NGU: grinding robotland + Yggdrasil - Immortal idle: grinding follower phase - Obelisk miner idle (android): currently on obelisk lv 14, trying to reach the new cards feature. No idea what that will bring but I hope it's better than the contracts which RESET on prestige (for measure, I spent ~3-4 days to grind every contract out in the hopes of it persisting through prestiges. Now I have to do it all over again).
I recently bought a new laptop which can run Lexy's Legacy of the Dragonborn modpack and set it up. It took me ~2 weeks to put everything together but it works and I'm enjoying the mods! Especially the museum which helps tremendously with my desire to hoard items.
Now that reddit started dying, people are exploring the fediverse. I'm one of these people and I found lots of inconveniences, which I want to share with you. Lets get a conversation going. There are tons of instances which "communicate" with each other, but in reality they are pretty much separated. I tried to connect to some Lemmy instances from Mastodon but it repeatedly gave me "not found" results (even though Lemmy itself said I should try that, see pictures). -What happens if a server goes down or a server keeper decides they want to modify some post or comment? It doesn't seem much different from what spez did, except now you put everything in the hand of another random person. Legal issues are potentially even worse in this case because there is no company behind the site to blame for their wrongdoings. -You have to create tens of accounts if you want to post on other instances. Yeah, you might be able to subscribe to communities from one instance but you can't post there, only on your own. Maybe I'm missing something here but it doesn't seem like you can post to the communities of other instances. -Alternatively: create the same community in your instance? That would just make useless duplications or even separate instances even more... There are lots of other issues with the fediverse, these are just from the top of my mind. Feel free to share your thoughts, annoyances, or even clarifications. ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/6d917b41-a550-4131-8153-db5bb297d9a2.png) ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/ec171f6b-4a38-40ac-8c99-03f6e20b983f.png)
