In the end I had my fair share of fun but I see no real reason to come back.

Pretty sure it's crazy expensive on a large scale, I don't think that people will pay monthly fee to keep playing apex/val/insert game. And more than sure these companies will try to force players to pay for it :/ Previously I had a small chat with aimlabs devs about application of neural networks for it (detecting weird patterns and irregularities, that what NNs are good at as well) but as I understood it would be expensive as well since obviously you want to run the model on your backend's side... It's and endless war between both sides without silver bullet ATM and I don't really understand why people are so mad about my comment lol

Yes its one time for android, if you're earning money with ads or purchases, google will take 1/3 of that amount, then you will have to figure out taxes on your own and there's also some special policies for selling online goods in India, but if you're just making apps - its one time fee to be able to upload them to google play store, or you can just distribute with froid/github for free, which is a great route as well

From the perspective of FOSS developer:

I simply don't want to pay €100 every single year to Tim Apple to make a free hobby app.

Android has more ways to distribute, and the "official" way is one time €25 fee and that's it.

Simply jump to your backup account on startrek.website and all's good! - User banners in all user profiles (if they exist) - Added notification toasts for a few more actions for clarity - Changed how followed communities are loaded. Now you see all and they're sorted alphabetically. Downsides? Can't see subscriber count... for now. - Some small stylistic changes across the app. Do you think that this release is good enough to turn open testing into full release in Google Play? As an accessibility thing it might be worth including some options but for now

I think all text elements support system native text scaling so if someone is using bigger text system-wide, it will be bigger in the app as well :) but yeah I plan to add more customization for app's UI.

I would also like to have some sort of Lists or Categories function where we could have additional feeds with specific communities in them, like having multiple sets of subscribed communities.

Something like multireddits? This is, of course, possible via in-app state/network, but I'm afraid that it will DDoS servers simply because its not supported by lemmy itself (yet). I miss this feature as well and will add it as soon as it will be ready in the API.

The sorting and view options being in the FAB are not intuitive. I feel like the “Local | New” text at the top should be menus to switch sort/view options.

My intentions were to make the app easier to use with one hand without trying to reach to the top of the screen, but yes, its a good idea to provide more user-friendly experience

I think that asking to be paid for your work is totally fine (albeit I myself made my lemmy app completely free and opensource, simply because its just my hobby project), but its a rather different story when you provide app for open source, nonprofit venture-free platform and start to inject ads and trackers into it. Its goes against the entire idea of free decentralised platform and makes it closer to profit-focused app like reddit/threads/etc imo

Nothing against sync, but this is not what I'd expect from lemmy app tbh. There's a lot of free open source options that don't sell your data.

Asking to be paid for your job is OK, but injecting ads in ad-free opensource service, selling user data? This is just reddit-app-moment in my opinion

I think, at this point, app is pretty stable and useable, I'm even planning to submit it to Google Play Store for private testing (mostly for the convenience of updating the app). If you tried this or previous versions, hows your experience was so far? Don't be afraid to share your opinions, requests and spotted issues. My phone is pretty large and its the only way I test my own app, so maybe I'm missing something design wise? Are the lists (comments, posts) working fine and fast?
