It was really cool how cyberpunk it was, but it wasn't precisely targeted at all. In this analogy it's just a city bus. They killed civilians with this attack, I'm not sure if you realize. Unless you think the 10 year old girl was a hardened Hezbollah soldier.
And yes, it's better, but not good. Especially since they're not even at war with Lebanon right now. They're just trying to expand the conflict to keep the US in a forever war to justify their genocide and so Netanyahu never has to account for his crimes.

There's no been proof that Tik Tok sends all the data to China or that China manipulates the algorithm. In fact, to appease the US before, they agreed to let Oracle and a purely US subsidiary look at all their code and data and content moderation. Oracle would spot check the data flows and where it goes. Tik Tok would report to Committee on Foreign Investment in the US on everything, even hiring practices. And a 2021 study found Tik Tok didn't really collect data beyond the norm of other players in the industry, or beyond what it said it did in it's policy.
All this scaring is literally just because politicians are scared that people in Gaza can use it to report what's happening to themselves during the genocide, without the blatant censorship of American companies on the issue. Even Romney admitted that's the reason. I don't actually use Tik Tok and I think it's algorithms are bad for our ADHD addled brains, but I would also apply that to YouTube shorts and Instagram stories. They should all be regulated, not banned. Hell, we actually could use more foreign companies that aren't vulnerable to US censorship, not the opposite. This is especially important since reporters aren't being let in Gaza and the ones who are are killed. And we'll probably lose it once they finish their restructuring in Project Texas, although sounds like they'll be banned before they do.

Paying for a roof isn't work. It's not producing anything, transforming anything, or doing labor, and it takes no time. It takes 30 seconds to cut a check. And they're using money I and other renters have paid them because we can't afford a house, despite very much wanting to, because of how expensive housing is due to landlords buying up all the properties lol. You can tell it's not a real job because a lot of landlords have full time other jobs. Or it's why being a landlord is also a great way to get money for old people who can't work and maybe haven't saved for retirement nor have a pension.
I 100% agree that the problem is that housing is an investment. Real estate investors should not be buying homes to make a profit at the expense of available housing. I haven't heard how the situation is in Germany, but that's good. I heard Tokyo also does it right, where housing depreciates like a car, because they have so much.

My landlord doesn't do that, they have a property manager that does that stuff. Ive never even seen my landlord. If the landlord does it, then they are not doing landlording, they are being a property manager and landlord, but they don't necessarily have to, and one doesn't require being the other.

They just don't like genocide and she supports a genocide. Everyone knows Trump does, so there's is no need to say anything about it, but Democrats like to pretend they don't. If that makes you feel uncomfortable for supporting her, it probably should. Genocide was considered the biggest possible evil in the world until the Dems started supporting it, too. The fact that it seems wrong is why people talk about it, because liberals say they feel bad about it so some of them can be pushed on the issue to resolve this contradiction through to doing something about it, while Republicans gleefully cheer for it, so there's no reason trying to convince them to do anything.
We need to live in those uncomfortable feelings because it might actually force us to think about them and change some shit, or to at least realize the system is fundamentally broken. It can prompt questions, like If we can't vote out a genocide, do we live in a good democracy? Why are some issues up for debate and not other issues? If our system and democracy is broken, should we be stomping around the world criticizing others' in Venezuela, China, Cuba, Mexico, Bolivia, etc? Is there a different reason we do so, like imperialism? Have other claims about the US being the good guy at all times been wrong as well? What current propaganda are we buying into? When people confront these wrongs and ask questions about why things are the way they are, it can also encourage them to study history and capitalism to find out why.
Or, you can be like those outside the DNC, rushing past the protestors, closing your eyes and plugging your ears, then act surprised and distraught when your life is made worse because the adventures abroad from candidates you supported blow back on us through terrorism, fascism, and immigration. But if we never think about the contradictions of our own positions and policies, we're no better than the cult of Republicans, are we?

I'll start off by saying I go to Halloween Horror Nights every year but this year have multiple groups interested. I plan on getting the express pass for the first time which is supposed to make the experience way better, but will also probably allow me to see everything in one night. So, I'm thinking of steering some of these friends groups to one of the other places this year.
Here's my own thoughts on these 3:
HHN always has great production quality and costumes, but it's starting to suffer from its success due to being crazy crowded. They're also starting to cheap out I think: reusing mazes and having less scare zones and there are maze special effects I remember from years past that I haven't seen recent mazes match up to, or maybe that's just nostalgia talking and the result of me going so many years in a row lol.
I recall Knotts being pretty good when I last went, but that was almost a decade ago. Iirc it didn't have as scary scare zones but I think I was impressed by their mazes. But I haven't been in so many years, I saw on the other site some people are now saying it's better than HHN due to crowd and cost issues, plus it being just as scary, making it better bang for your buck.
Fright Fest I went even longer ago. It was fun and even cheaper, but nothing really stands out in my memory except a cool 3D maze. It felt better for teenagers and younger crowds. But looking this year for the first time in forever, it looks they're starting to get some big names: Saw, Conjuring, cult Halloween movie Trick r' Treat, Stranger Things, etc. Good for them!

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights vs Six Flags Fright Fest vs Knotts Scary Farm For people who enjoy these scary, fun events, which do you prefer most? How can you have been alive that long and not noticed the ratchet effect? It specifically increased with Reagan, who put in a bunch of neoliberal policies that Democrats still haven't rolled back all these years later.

I know it's probably too early to tell but I've been working weekends lately so it's been hard to watch the LCS and catch up, even though I was excited about this season. I'm considering buying some extra storage space for my PS5. Last time I was out of town, my partner tried to play a game and they couldn't, because I deleted it to make room. They went to download it but it was out of space, so of course they didn't want to delete anything. That makes me sad because I want to encourage them to use it and game lol. Plus, I think it would make it easier rather than always downloading and deleting things. Have other people bought extra storage for PS5? What kind would you recommend? Do you go for internal or external? Do you have the heat sink if an internal one? Is 4TB enough or overkill? I think I saw that amount somewhere once (unless I imagined it) but maybe 1 or 2 TB is good, and probably easier to find.

We're looking at movies to watch for Father's Day and my dad has already watched most of the ones out right now, so that eliminates the ones I want to see (Furiosa, The Fall Guy) and he's not interested in Planet of the Apes. I was inspired to listen to a few new artists at the gym recently by an FD Signifier video on how lately female rappers are going hard in a way you can lift to while recent male rappers have mostly been going for a more, calm, rambling flow that is probably better for when you're relaxing on drugs or driving or something. So I picked a couple of the female rappers he mentioned that were newer than my aged music tastes (Latto, Megan Thee Stallion, etc.) and added some of their songs to my lifting playlist and ya, some of their songs went pretty hard. I'm wondering if there are any other good artists I'm missing out on keeping the same rotation forever, so I thought I'd ask the class. Jet is talking to Spike about talking to Charlie Parker in a dream in the casino episode, iirc. The style of music is fast tempo, quick key changes, novel chord progressions, and virtuoso performers making new music out of standards. It's analogous to the storytelling in the manga, and to the characters themselves. Each is supremely competent, acting on their own, but complementing and supporting the others to make something extraordinary. The whole soundtrack is a wide range of genres, and it was all written and performed by Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts, which is especially impressive because of the sheer variety of styles. > >Tank! is more driving trumpets and melodic than classic bebop, so you might also check out some Wynton Marsalis. Hey everyone, I'm part of a company that's been trying to modernize. Our team has switched to Agile, switched to some cloud storage, and is slowly trying to add automated tests to its various legacy applications. I know normally automated tests would just be done with the user story as part of the definition of done, and while going forward I want to do that with future user stories, I still I want to be able to keep track of the large amount of work to do with adding automated tests to cover the huge parts of the code already done. It will be kind of a large development effort by itself done by at least 2-3 devs/juniors, and me kind of leading this effort but pretty new at it myself lol. We're using Azure DevOps which has organized things from big to small with Epics, Features, User Stories, and Tasks. We're trying to decide how to frame and track the work within this context. So even though user stories aren't the best way to illustrate this from what I've read because it isn't user driven functionality, it's the best way to track with what we got, so with that context, here are the ideas so far. 1) One person suggested an Automated Test Feature, sticking it in this Global epic we have for miscellaneous structure and framework work. Then make one user story each with all automated tests a module has, giving each individual class and pages to test within those modules with a task, and writing within the description the individual tests for each page/class. They don't want the backlog diluted with too many of these automated test stories I think. 2) Another person suggested creating an Epic for automated tests user stories created up to now, then a feature for each module, then a user story for each class/page to be tested, then a task for each test the developer has to make for each one of those. This person was me, I thought it felt more organized and you can see what dev is working on what piece, but I can see how it balloons the backlog with a ton more user stories for this effort. Although it's at least all in one Epic folder that's easy to ignore. 3) Our QA wanted one only user story for all automated tests to really prevent clutter, but also was okay with the first idea when I kind of pushed back on it. Since all user stories are usually tested by them and this is kind of superfluous stuff mostly for devs at the moment that isn't application functionality, so I can see why they want it as small and out of the way in the backlog as possible. 4) Another person just suggested creating a user story for each test, but instead of putting them all in one place, placing them in the proper Feature category that the originating story is kind of testing went in. I get the logic of this, too, but I was afraid of it being confusing for it to track being all scattered around, and user and system driven functionality mixed with tests. But then, I guess we also categorize things in sprints, so maybe this wouldn't be as confusing as I first thought. Anyway, if anyone had any suggestions or a better way to organize it than these, let me know!
I saw this on a comment in Step Back's YouTube video on the Israel Palestine conflict and this instance seems knowledgeable on colonial history and this conflict in particular, so I thought I'd start by asking here before finding another instance or community who knows history. Someone asked something along the lines of: "Suppose you were an Arab Muslim Palestinian living in the territory that would become Israel in the 1940's. You weren't particularly political, you just kept your head down and lived your life. What would happen around you as history unfolds? At what point does something bad happen to you? And what would it likely be? A bombing, an eviction, a business being attacked? " Personally, I'm curious about that, too. Does nothing happen until you do something antisemitic to one of the Jews moving in? Someone replied: "You and your children would be among the 20% of Israeli citizens with full and equal rights. The Arabs who fled did so because their hope was to return once the Arab armies finished off the Jews for good. The ones who stayed were the ones who were willing to coexist with Jews."
