I think we will actually reach a point where most sexual encounters will be via virtual reality. You taylor the interaction just as you want it and get the same physical reaction as if it was real.

At the time that these were in use if you described technology of today they would have considered it science fiction. In the near future I expect all live voice communications or voice messages to be via projected holograms.

Mr or Mrs
At a business, a secretary, almost always a woman, would answer the phone for all calls. There were no direct lines into anyone. If you were in she would transfer the call to your office. If you were out she would use this pad to take messages. When you came back in to the office you would always stop at the front desk and you would be handed your messages.

Decades ago I saw the Rolling Stones. It was held in an arena. I was fortunate enough to sit in one of those skyboxes. Because of its location to the stage, from a corner of the skybox you could actually see behind the stage. This area was just a huge curtain as all seating behind the curtain was closed. During certain songs some band members would go behind the curtain. And it was a blast to see some of them jugging down vodka which was clearly visible from my vantage point. And the show was great.

I never understood why there wasn't a federal web site where you input your gross based on W2. Then check off boxes for special deductions like kids. And wamo here's what you owe. But if our tax system was simple and stupid than thousands of people at IRS wouldn't have jobs. Too bad. Let them find other jobs.

I treated like a stronger than usual strain of the flu. I was and am healthy. I had no comorbidities. I knew that if I was infected it wouldn't kill me. And I'm sure that at several times if tested I would have come up positive but I never had any significant symptoms. I live in a state that was one of the first to end all restrictions and simply lived life normally. I did get the vax before it was know that it actually didn't prevent you from getting covid and it did not prevent you from spreading it if you were positive.

When hitler killed himself in the bunker. I would have been fascinated to witness how a guy responsible for millions of deaths somehow considered himself the victim and was forced to commit suicide. He was an evil bastard and a coward unwilling to face the consequences of his actions.

While I totally agree that the rich (regardless of color) are not treated the same by our system of justice, he was so beyond all doubt guilty that it actually hurt the Black community. Whites and other peoples of color were disappointed that any person regardless of the tint of their skin was not held accountable for the obvious brutal murder of 2 people. And how sad that at this point we still make judgements based on how light or how dark a person's skin is.

I don't know what you are talking about. I have stated that I am still banned at reddit. No one let me back and I believe that their appeal process is now automated. So in effect you can never actually make a case as to why you should be reinstated.

Weren’t you banned from Lemm.ee for posting scat porn in a tech community and dumping a bunch of comments in an Autism community calling them the R word? You ran the conservativememes2 community too.
I did NONE of those things. I have never posted any kind of porn anywhere and never would.
I have a nephew who is autistic and will scream out at anyone who refers to those afflicted with that condition as removed.
When I moderated groups at reddit I would ban those who wished me dead or called for violence against me. Do you think that was OK?

Good answer. For me I try to do stuff around the house and I usually make it worse costing me more money in the end when a professional comes to fix it.
I enjoyed college and was fortunate enough to enjoy a good white collar career. But if I could do it all over again, I would have learned how to become a licensed electrician, plumber, etc.

Yeah I have live YouTube TV and they no longer offer the MLB channel. I had got comfortable with You Tube in general because for years I have been watching the regular YouTube and I am paying for Premium, so there are no commercials. The only ads that you have to fast forward through are the ones embedded in the videos by the creators. The billing for both regular YouTube Premium and their TV product is smooth and hassle free. I have never sampled Plex or Hulu and just was wondering how they compare with the YouTube TV product. Regular Youtube has an MLB channel that I am subscribed to. They have game highlights.

LOL. I never once called for violence. I am not white and not a racist. And I never even called another poster an asshole. My thing was always lets have a civil discussion. And I guess my point is that all the things that we both would agree on that should cause a ban did not apply to me.

It's been a year since this happened. I honestly don't remember, but I think it was a comment. A comment where I was paraphrasing a point made in a published news article. Apparently just mentioning something that others didn't "like" was enough to piss people off.

We will always be a "one party" country ... meaning rich guys or candidates bankrolled by rich guys.....until we have term limits. And a way to regulate campaigns. Just imagine an average Joe candidate actually getting equal time running against a millionaire across all media. Of course this will never happen but it would be nice if it did

I find it fascinating that many of the true believers actually believe he was born on December 25th. They have no awareness of how this date was conjured up to compete with other existing non religious celebrations.

We all tend to think that the existing technology when we grew up was the benchmark and always existed. Many people are alive today that went to college before computers even existed. Back then the closest thing to a computer filled a room and worked with punch cards. On the smartphone side, how many even remember those pink pads that were used to write down phone messages. Or dial up internet over a phone line with those strange noises as the connection was made.

You are a proud member of a group. Your group believes in living a virtuous life and spreading those beliefs onto the non-believers. The leaders of your group constantly announce viewpoints that you should live by. They recently told everyone that whenever you want to toast bread your toaster should be set to the highest level, and you will always be assured that your toast will come out perfect. Not under done nor burnt. You enthusiastically follow this new directive. Every day you have a piece of toast for breakfast. You are confused because now every day your toast comes out burnt. You go to the group leaders looking for help. You are told that the directive is correct but maybe the ambient temperature in your kitchen is causing the issue. Or maybe you are just using the wrong type of bread. Regardless of the refinements that you make the result is always the same – burnt toast. This latest failed directive reminds you of other directives from the leaders that have yielded outcomes that are not what was guaranteed. At this point you need to decide whether you want to flee the group and live in reality or take a leap of faith and continue following the group directives. Many will remain as group members because it gives meaning to their lives. In just a short time they will convince themselves that the toast is actually not burnt and live the rest of their lives happily eating burnt toast convincing themselves that it just perfect. We spend too much time with allegiance to political parties and individual politicians. It is always about policies and the provable outcomes of those policies.
My comment will only mean something if you understand that I am actually a moderate. I have voted for both parties. I don't vote for politicians. I vote for policies. Policies that I think make sense and actually work. As a for instance I am against the banning of abortion, but think there should be some time limit based on when the fetus could survive outside the mother. I think that's a moderate position. When I first took a break from reddit and came over to lemmy I just lurked around. I didn't sign up. I wanted to see if it would actually get off the ground. Present were the usual political groups mostly all expressing democrat/progressive opinions. As with reddit this is expected since these types of communities are comprised mostly of young people who are mostly on the progressive side of politics. On the conservative side there were only a few groups as would be expected. Reddit also has few but they are allowed to exist and most use a flair based system. So if conservatives what to discuss policies they are not overwhelmed by non conservatives. Simply put you need to message the mods and tell them why you are a conservative to get flaired or auto mod will hold your post or comment pending mod review. I do not think lemmy has this feature. I think that communities dedicated to a specific political view should not have to be brigaded by those who disagree with them. The thing that I found interesting on lemmy is that the few other conservative groups were all banned along with their creators and mods. This was documented via the mod logs. I of course never read every post or comment but I never once saw someone threatening others or calling for violence. Apparently they were banished because of their political views. I no longer remember the group name but one of the banned groups simply posted news articles that called into question some democrat party policies. Coming full circle I'm not really interested enough in politics to join any political groups. I just wanted to post my observations as to how lemmy seems to handle them.
Anyone have a favorite or top three that you can just watch over and over?

Specifically how the deaths of so many of our soldiers affected families and communities.
All religions are just mythologies. But humans will always ask what created and what is the meaning of the universe. I don't think we will ever know but everyone should know that religion is nonsense that badly tries to answer that question.
