This and work are the only real answers
after updating to the new version of Dolphin, I noticed the icons don't show up in the "Icons" layout.

Not really. As mentioned earlier, the screen size is too small to comfortably read manga on, and I don't feel comfortable using it for anything important because it's from China. But, well, that's a good thing; once I get around to selling my iPhone X, it'll definitely work its job as a dumbphone.

That realization must have been embarrassing haha. It's okay, friend, we can't be expected to be caught up with everything going on in tech.

I've given up on trying to use the QT file picker everywhere, as theming and image previews are broken when I try to do it on NixOS, so now I want to improve the GTK file picker. And so I ask, is there any way or extension to make the search faster?

I read a bit of the manga and it didn’t really made me want to keep on reading, but I have a feeling the anime adaptation may be different. I’ll watch it.

This. Many people feel good about themselves for using lemmy, but not using big tech software doesn’t mean you’re doing better than before.
Social media remains social media and still is a huge time waster and a detriment to your attention span
Though I try to be more lenient on this view because not long ago I was reminded of the benefits of moderate social media use.

I've already given up on Twitter, having no real attachment to the platform anymore, so all that remains for me is genuine curiosity and excitement as to what the platform is going to become.
Because "X: the everything app" is an ambitious project done by one of the biggest social media apps, I think whatever happens next is going to be very interesting.
I've been doing it since day one, but I fear that if I don't do it carefully enough, it might cripple my accent later on. Also, saying the words out loud kind of demotivates me from doing anki as it's a lot more work and gets stressful since I don't want to pick up bad speaking habits, so not saying words out loud would actually be a relief, but I want to do what is most optimal for learning.

I've added Dumbbell Nan Kilo Moteru? to my PTW. It was actually Masamune-kun's workout-addict personality (Masamune-kun no revenge) that made me start working out myself, so I'm somewhat interested in watching another anime with characters who work out.
I hadn't heard of Yama No Susume, I'll go read about it.
Thank you for the recommendations.

Looking for an anime or manga about someone on self-improvement. Could be a monk pursuing enlightenment, or could be a degen trying to better himself. Anything about someone trying to improve themselves. Thank you for your time!

I read manga on the Hisense Touch which has a somewhat small screen, making it very hard to read some manga. At first, I thought the Touch just had really bad display sharpness but then I realized most scans are just too low-res. For some manga, I need to hold my phone like 2 inches away from my eyes which is horrible and very damaging for my eyesight, so I was wondering if there's a manga reader app out there that upscales manga/reduces noise as you read (using something like waifu2x) I found [this feature request for Tachiyomi](https://github.com/tachiyomiorg/tachiyomi/issues/3337) but it was quickly turned down and as such my expectations are quite low, but I figured I'd ask anyway
I have an old laptop that I want to turn into a server, but I want it to be as seamless as possible. I don't have any knowledge in web hosting, so I'll use whatever distribution makes it easiest. Also willing to venture outside of Linux territory to try those NAS-like operating systems. I just want things to work. I called it old, but the laptop in question actually has decent specs. I want to host a personal searx instance, a forum, nextcloud, and, well, I'd also like to run single-user fediverse instances but I heard that they're very hard to manage and update so I'm still not sure about that.
What I've done is installing ``` xdg-desktop-portal libsForQt5.xdg-desktop-portal-kde libsForQt5.kdialog ``` and adding ``` xdg.portal.enable = true; xdg.portal.extraPortals = [ pkgs.libsForQt5.xdg-desktop-portal-kde ]; environment.sessionVariables.XDG_CURRENT_DESKTOP = "kde"; ``` to my configuration.nix, but while I do get the qt file picker on my web browser, the theming is broken and it looks like this ![](https://lemmy.world/pictrs/image/47a20991-162f-47f1-a465-be7e01973e05.png) I currently handle my theming through qt5ct with the line `environment.sessionVariables.QT_QPA_PLATFORMTHEME = "qt5ct"`

The tech giants make enough money that they could keep on growing forever, from my understanding. But the fediverse? Sure the main instances that get enough funding are going to be okay, but what about the single-user instances 10 years from now on when there's a lot more content to download? Won't they go bankrupt just by trying to annex the big instances? And I have the impression that the lemmy giants are going to change over time: does that mean that 50 years from now on, the posts I'm posting here today might get lost in time because the instances that annex it will have shut down by then? I probably misunderstand how the fediverse works, but my worry is that the small instances won't be able to hold an ever-growing amount of data forever. I spoke in absolutes for the sake of readability, but I'm as in-the-dark as can be.
