From the day I was born, my environment shaped what I thought and felt. Entering the school system I was indoctrinated into whatever society I was born to. All of the things that I think I know are shaped by someone else. I read a book and I regurgitate its contents to other people. I read a post online and I start pretending that it's the truth when I don't actually know. How often do humans actually have an original thought? Most of the time we're just regurgitating things that we've experienced, read, or heard from exteral foces rather than coming up with thoughts on our own.

I looked that up. You can change the double press on the tile from SOS to ring my phone. That's pretty cool.

I will have to look that up. I don't know much about tiles.

I'm retired and while I do have a laptop, the laptop's only connection to the internet is through my phone. I'm generally way out in the woods somewhere. And the only connection I have is a cellular connection. I was mostly just curious what people would say.

I figured as much. I was hoping there was a workaround like I could call Apple or something.
Suppose I lost my phone and I could use find my phone to find it. The problem is I don't have my phone in order to find my phone with. I don't have a computer I don't have a laptop All I have is a phone. How on earth would I use find my phone to find my phone?

Nothing applies to cops. They seem to be able to do whatever they want.
Kintarian 3 days ago • 100%
Yeah the cops came to our house one time for something some kid did it wasn't even related to us. My dog comes out and the cop says, if you don't take control of your dog I'm going to shoot him. That was a mellowest dog I ever had, if you said boo it would hide under the bed. What a dick head.

Why is it that the party that loves guns so much can't fucking shoot.

Wow, Babylon 5 is on Tubi, free with commercials. I am going to watch again.
Kintarian 5 days ago • 100%
It was definitely one of the best sci-fi series I've ever watched. But some of the dialogue and the banter between some of the people was kind of, I don't know, maybe not cheesy but cute? Amusing? Wouldn't mind watching it again. The '90s were a long time ago.

Yeah I don't get it. My mom calls up her prayer warriors and starts praying for things. And yet God is omniscient and all seeing why do you have to pray? And when something good happens, is a prayer answered from God. If something bad happens then it's just the will of God. And humans can't understand the mind of God. It's like a big circle jerk.

Recently we had one of the largest fires in California history called the Park Fire. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said Wednesday morning that 277 structures have been destroyed by the fire and 29 structures have been damaged. On the TV they interviewed a man whose house survived. He said, "I thank god my house was spared". So, let me get this straight. God destroyed 277 homes but saved yours? If that's god's will then god is an asshole.

That reminds me of a conversation I had with a preacher. I asked, if god is a loving god why does the Bible say to fear him? His answer? Fear means love.
Turn the gaslight off already!
My mom has a list of prayers that she claims were answered by God. As I look at that list I noticed that I did most of those things. When I mention that she says, God works through people. If I have to do all the work what do I need God for?

I've never seen anyone with a drawer labeled knife drawer.
Kintarian 2 weeks ago • 20%
When a cop asked me if I have any weapons my answer is no. My knives are not weapons. They are tools. A weapon is made to have only one purpose and that is to cause great bodily injury or death. My knives are not solely meant to do that.
If it's illegal to have a concealed knife in a vehicle in California, then how do people drive around in an RV with a drawer full of knives?
Where I live it rarely gets down to 32 degrees. I bought a bag that said 20 degrees. After reading the manual it said that was the extreme rating. Will this bag keep me warm at 32 degrees or not?
I've tried several types of artificial intelligence including Gemini, Microsoft co-pilot, chat GPT. A lot of the times I ask them questions and they get everything wrong. If artificial intelligence doesn't work why are they trying to make us all use it?
Someone said I keep replying to myself. I often long press the comment and tap reply or tap the comment and tap reply. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Edit to clarify. When I get a message in my inbox, I long press on the blue highlight and tap reply. Is that what I'm doing wrong?
I'm sitting here on the holy sabbath reading atheist memes while my mother watches sermons.
My mom and her prayer warriors have been praying to get my car fixed quickly. My car has been in the shop for a month. Apparently the omniscient omnipresent God of the universe can't fix a car.
I tried switching to Gemini on my Samsung phone. Then I found out the Gemini can't open apps on my Android phone. This is kind of a deal breaker because it doesn't actually replace assistant. And it looks like Google is about to replace assistant with Gemini since it laid off most of his assistant workers. I don't see how this helps.
Even on Android it seems like every game they put out these days is a gotcha MMORPG. I don't really like playing with other people because they keep telling me how bad I am at the game. It's just a game. So I was wondering if there was a good Android RPG that doesn't have any social or gotcha parts of it.
In some studies, at the end of them, I see: "quitting smoking reduces your chance of dying from all causes." So if I quit smoking I'm less likely to get hit by a bus?
I'm not sure if I can post here. Lemmy seems kind of complicated. For instance, I tried to post something and it said I can't because I'm on a local instance. So how do I find out what instance a community is on and how do I make it so I can post? An example: I went to https://join-lemmy.org/instances and searched for nostupidqestions and nothing was found.
Many of us spend our lives thinking of science and philosophy. Looking for answers to the meaning of life the universe and our place in it. And then eventually we die. Have we not accomplished anything? Does our knowledge somehow live on beyond death? What is the point of seeking knowledge?
