I feel like a lot of the comments are kind of proving the point. If we say we don't like Biden, then suddenly everyone assumes we aren't voting and therfore are helping Trump. In reality, the meme literally says nothing about voting. That's everyone else jumping to that conclusion.
"I'm just reminding everyone!"
Don't worry. We all know how elections work.
"I don't care if you don't like him! I care about votes!"
Cool. Then let me not like him.

While I am glad that organization exists to help dogs, sounds like it's run by a bunch of assholes. I went into the article expecting to hate the woman, but since we still live in capitalism, she couldn't afford it, and the professionals had given their profesional advice.

And the fact that the democrats have shifted so far into acceptance that anyone against it is a terrible person has been amazing to watch. They called out the Nazis for the past few years, and now they're wondering if maybe the general idea behind it was OK.

I do have to come to homeboys defense. She heard bussy and though he was picturing a twink. While that's fine and dandy if that's what he's into, maybe he was actually thinking about bears. Sounds like she's the issue cause she thinks we can only be twinks. My beard says otherwise.

I think you missed the point. Your logic calls for violence against Republicans.

Counter argument. I have also never made this much money. Neither has my boyfriend. We work at a hospital and make decent money. In Oct 2020 we were finally able to get our own apartment. We then moved back in with our old roommate last year. Because we were getting close to being homeless.
People were warning up about the disappearing middle class decades ago. I remember hearing about it in the 90s. And here we are. The wage gap between the top and the bottom has only widened.

Well then the Republicans better get real comfortable with having a lot of bad things happening to them real quick.

Same. The Republicans have been insulting anyone who doesn't stand with them on everything. They claim to be able to criticize Biden, but holy shit am I tired of being insulted for not agreeing with him on genocide. They just continue to push everyone away. So while I am also voting, a part of me doesn't blame those who are done and not bothering. They want everyone sit down, shut up, never expect to get anything we want, but then to also vote? Kind of fucked.
HipHoboHarold 7 months ago • 100%
Ph yeah, no, I agree with that part. But the part about people waiting till they're old and then demanding. That part is something we are doing now. We just want people to be taken care of in general. It shouldn't have to be a worry for anyone of any age.
But I do agree that those who are lucky enough to be able to save should save. Cause even if shit gets crazy, having something to help you will be better than living in an apartment with nothing. Either way it's a win.

Because things were getting worse. And they're still getting worse. And they will continue to get worse. We have charts and graphs and studies for a lot of different things showing things were getting worse, and have only continued to do so. Like the cost of living didn't just steadily go up with a steady inflation. It's been a curve. And then the last few years fucked us pretty bad.
Climate change. Still getting hotter. Still not slowing down enough. Some places are doing their parts, but places like here in the US, we aren't doing nearly enough. And a lot of the stuff we are doing ends up on backfiring because of capitalism. For instance, California banned the single use plastic bags. But a lot of reusable bags are plastic. The law is the bag needs to be a certain thickness and be advertised as reusable... So places just made thicker bags. And then people still throw them away. So each bag is now more plastic than before.
So yes. They gave us a warning. Things got worse.
So we got a second warning. Things still got worse.
Then rather than shutting up as you would prefer, they gave us another warning. Still getting worse.

I didn't even make it past the first paragraph. You legitimately made a terrible insult, then told them to take a seat because you're better at shit talking. For the future, don't brag about talking shit as a forn of talking shit. It just comes off as insecure and really kills it.

We aren't asking for tax payers money to take care of us in the way you're thinking. We are asking for universal basic needs. For the young and the old. Healthcare, housing, etc. To move past capitalism. Especially since we are already seeing the issues popping up. People are already starting to work later in life to pay the bills. We are already seeing a surge in elderly homelessness. Of people not being able to pass down anything in inheritance because they have health issues and need to stay in a facility which takes everything from them.
We aren't waiting to say "Now that we are older take care of us"
We are currently saying the system is broken now.

Yeah, there's quite a few contradictions. Like they're the ones encouraging everyone to start having kids. If people say they can't afford it, conservatives tell them they will find a way. So if they can't afford it and do, they're bad patents. If they can't afford it and don't, they're selfish.
Also we shouldn't spend other people's money on these people's kids for lunches. But we can spend even more of that money putting them on the system? Like it would be cheaper to just give them a breakfast and lunch at school. So even looking at it from a libertarian tax is theft standpoint, it's still spending money on the kids. But more.
HipHoboHarold 7 months ago • 100%
I've seen a ton of republican voters say they're against it when ever the subject comes up. The argument being that if they can't afford kids, they shouldn't have had kids. And if they can't afford to feed them, it's better to have the kids taken away.

One of the best ways to come to the conclusion that you need to better yourself in some areas is to be open to the idea you might have a bias.
But acknowledging you might have a bias does not mean it's there and you're OK with it
And not liking someone who is part of a marginalized group does not always mean a bias either.

But we can focus on more than one problem. Like I'm a gay guy. Should I nor focus on the potential genocide me and my community will likely face if the Republicans can win?
HipHoboHarold 7 months ago • 100%
Except it's probably true. In the US centrist is usually used as a way go say between the two parties. In reality it's used to say between capitalism and basically everything else. So groups like the democrats are on the right. The are what's generally referred to as "right of center." They are not in the center of the right, but just a little past centrist. And to he exact, they would be authoritarian right of center on the political compass.
The Republicans are further right and further into the authoritarian square.
So for you to be lib center, you would need to be to the left and further south from the democrats
Which means the dems are between you and the Republicans
But yet even though you're closer to dems politically, you prefer the ones that are so far removed from you that you likely have little to nothing in common
Vs the dems who are closer to you politically
Feel free to make it make sense, but the majority of the time I see other Americans talk about being center or libertarian, they really mean right wing authoritarians who just want no taxes and sometimes legal weed
Edit: Also, "I'm giving you the look you're giving me" is just "No u". But k

But either way, as a gay man, me and my boyfriend are thinking we might get out if the Republicans do win. He's on his last semester of nursing school. I have an associates in accounting, which isn't much, but I can hopefully still have some leverage with it.

First, I just want to say I am in no affiliated with Horrorsmith Publishing, any of their authors, or any other authors in general. I'm not even an author myself. This is not a paid advertisement. But of the mods still feel it doesn't belong, I understand. I just wanted to give a heads up. Recently I guess Anazon had some sort of Stuff Your Kindle Event. They had a ton of free books people could claim. I missed it, but it sounds like it was largely romance novels, and a few other things hidden in there. And it was also mostly unknown authors, so it's one of those things where no one is sure how much is even worth reading. However, there wasn't much horror, so Horrorsmith Publishing is hosting their own event, and encouraging others to join. It's gonna take place on Halloween, and it sounds like there will be a ton of free books. Maybe they will just be on sale. Unfortunately details are sparse. Hopefully more will come out. But even if it is just a sale, I'll likely take advantage of it and support some smaller authors. Also, it was being weird with me trying to post a link, but you can just go to spookyourkindle.com I personally just have a tab open so I don't forget or anything.
