I guess it's running on cartoon logic and now that I know this, it won't work anymore :/

Bad teammate doesn't mean a bad player necessarily. It can be a toxic ass that is throwing on purpose, or that is just annoyingly telling you how the play the game.
Also, if you play SP games 3 out of 4 don't apply, so I'll say low FPS is more annoying for offline gamers.

People are going at this with a music production mindset, and while not wrong, I think it's overkill and it might not be the result you want.
At the studio I work at, where we do voiceovers and dubbing, the mix is made by manually adjusting the levels while listening to it. That's it. If the voice is too loud, move the fader down a bit; if it's too quiet, move the fader up. No compression needed, just volume automation.
We do use some sidechaining but only for narrator.
You can also check the overall levels to see if your LUFS and true peak and all that is correct; but if you're doing it for yourself, just keep the original audio at around -18dB, and that should give you margin for the voiceover (if the voiceover peaks above -1dB and it still feels too quiet, you may need to go a bit lower with the background).

The funny thing with gendered languages is that synonyms can have different genders. So "el pollo" and "la gallina" both mean "chicken", but their grammatical gender differs.

It's also ignoring your hand would also heat up, ignoring the energy converted to sound, ignoring the heat loss to the environment, ignoring both your hand and the chicken would disintegrate if you hit it that hard, therefore transferring most kinetic energy without converting it, ignoring the enthalpy of fusion (they said it's frozen)...
TLDR: it's silly, just for funsies

I think criticizing people for what they do (eg: calling some politicians "murderers" because they allow genocide) is different than calling names just to hurt, which is what dead naming usually is.
I don't think anyone should be okay with racism or that kind of attacks, even on people they hate. Kim Jong Un may be a piece of shit (or not), but calling him a racial slur is unproductive and definitely crossing the line.
Here, the deadnaming comes from ignorance, not hate; and it's true that it might help clarify who someone is, but in this case everybody knows her for being the "leave Britney alone" person, not for her deadname. So it's really unnecessary.

I linked a deleted post on the body of this post, try clicking on it. It should bring up a "couldn't find post" screen and reset Jerboa after going back.
I'll say I also use the app URLCheck to open urls, and my phone uses MIUI OS, in case that's relevant.
Edit: okay I think it might not be jerboa's fault, rather a weird interaction with URLcheck when opening links that aren't handled directly by jerboa.
I think it creates a different instance of the jerboa app or something, resetting it. But I have to do more testing.

There's also the fact that they're completely optional and unnecessary. They provide nothing but cosmetics
I hate this argument, because videogames themselves are completely optional and unnecessary. That's the whole point of them, they're just for entertainment, to have fun and enjoy playing them. So I don't see how something being cosmetic makes any difference.
It's more like we didn't like pay2win on online games, so they started making it "just cosmetic" in those, and somehow now people think it's acceptable to have to pay for parts of a game they bought, in every game ever?
Well, people waste their money on useless crap all the time, so I guess I'll just be the cranky old lady and go back to playing my original AoM, where I'm actually playing a game and not an advertisement.

Searxng! You can self-host it, but I just use a public instance, there are tons you can find out there. You can also install a firefox extension^1^ to be able to use it directly as your default search engine :)
^1^ you don't need to download an extension, you can just go to a site, right click on the address bar and add it to firefox/librewolf as a custom search engine, as per these instructions.

Google is just a search engine, the sites you find with it may or may not be trustworthy.
...unless you use their AI crap, idk, I haven't used Google for years.
As the title says, if I click on a link to a Lemmy post that was deleted, or can't be found for whatever reason, Jerboa goes back to the start of the feed instead of going back to where I was. Especially annoying when I've been scrolling for a while. Sorry if it is a known bug, I haven't seen any post about it. Edit: trying to reproduce it, [test](https://sopuli.xyz/post/16571811) Edit2: this !madeupcommunity@sopuli.xyz lets me go back normally, so I think it's a weird interaction when opening urls in jerboa through URLCheck that makes another instance of it, restarting it. If I find any links that actually break it without this interaction I'll update the post, but until then, consider it a false alarm/special case ;)

How do you think headline voice actors start? By doing the small roles like wallas, ad libs, waiter2 and such.
If you get rid of the starting voice actors of today, you get rid of the good voice actors of tomorrow.

You need one eye to see 2D. You need two eyes to see 3D. Presumably, you need 3+ eyes to see in 4D. Don't conflate spatial dimensions with the temporal one, it's oranges and apples.

Hello internet friends! Last year I decided to learn python, and I set on making a blackjack game - sounded like a simple prospect. Cue many hours of trial and error and reading documentation. Months passed, and little by little I kept adding things. Now it feels kind of enjoyable to play to me, so maybe some of you or your blajahs will find it interesting too. You need to have python and pygame installed to play. Sorry if my github is a mess and I'm not supposed to upload it like this, I mostly have no idea what I'm doing! Any feedback or comments are appreciated :)
