@GrainEater@lemmygrad.ml in light of all this, can this be set to a permaban? I see Larkin was banned for 23 days, but still.

That's absolutely ok, but have you gotten the chance to see one of them in person? I think it makes more sense then. Pictures don't really do the paintings justice.
I think the Rothko chapel is neat too.

It comes from talking about food: "I know a basket of wings hates to see me coming (because I'm going to eat them all)".
It makes less sense here, but the implication is that the wearer is going to engage in fellatio.

Idk, I'd go for it if you're comfortable driving trucks. Do they offer jobs where you sleep in the truck? That's a thing here. You might be able to do that and save a bit on room and board.
I think it's worth planning on when and how you get out? I've heard a life of trucking can be really hard on your body. It'd suck to get trapped in the golden cage of decent pay. Getting a house and finishing the degree are good ideas!

Yeah! He's not a main character in it, iirc, but you get an idea of why the valar favor him. He's got a bit in the ROTK appendices where he has a battle with the witch king too.

I quite enjoyed the Silmarillion when I read it, but I'm not sure I'll have the stick-to-it-ive-ness to reread it anytime soon. I like the story of Beren and Luthien, and Glorifindel's fight with the balrog. Lots of really cool stories in there.
The Rings of Power is based on the lore in the appendices of Return of The King - broadly the same story, but their interpretation is almost like an alt history compared to this. I enjoyed the first season ok (if I disagreed with some of the writing), but I haven't felt compelled to look into the second season yet.

I may be poorly informed, but I broadly agree with this. Maybe the cultural revolution had excesses, but it's a good thing that it happened.

I think that's kind of the point, right? That McCarthy shows this "barbaric" scene towards the beginning, and then shows the supposedly "civilized" people act far worse. Like, no wonder the Comanche did what they did!

Decent whey protein is getting prohibitively expensive. I'm open to other options, but protein powder is easy and keeps for a long time. It's a good option to have.
That was true when I was a prosecutor in California, when I served in the Senate, throughout my time as your Vice President. And it's true today as I make this announcement to the world. My name is Kamala Harris and I'm running for President of the United States. I need your support today to win this election, defeat Donald Trump, and to create more progress for the American people. I recently finished the Epic of Gilgamesh, and I'm starting a collection of poems by Rumi. I've previously read Cold Mountain by Han Shan. Are there any other ancient poets/poems with published work that you'd recommend? I'm looking for things that are: * Basically as old as possible * Poetic/mystic * Not Christian (or Western, Greek, or Roman). Thanks!
It was a really good read. The main character is a such a breathtakingly massive hater.
>"For us who are determined to break the back of colonialism, our historic mission is to authorize every revolt, every desperate act, and every attack aborted or drowned in blood."
I just finished it today. It was very interesting to read of the lives and traditions of the Ibo people, and it was very sad to see them begin to be destroyed by the colonial machine.
An old article, but context I didn't know.
>"He of whom they have never stopped saying that the only language he understands is that of force, decides to give utterance by force. In fact, as always, the settler has shown him the way he should take if he is to become free. The argument the native chooses has been furnished by the settler, and by an ironic turning of the tables it is the native who now affirms that the colonialist understands nothing but force."
There's clearly something about to happen in Western Asia, this is meant to be a question related to the situation, but mostly a place for speculation. Is there a way that Iran can aid Hamas without a risk of being nuked? Is it easier for Hezbollah as they aren't exactly a country in their own right? Is the only way to engage a nuclear-armed state guerilla war waged by internal dissidents?
>The demographer Arnon Sofer of Haifa University is the architect of the current isolation of Gaza. In 2004, he advised the government of Ariel Sharon to withdraw Israeli forces from within Gaza, seal the territory off from the outside world, and simply shoot anyone who tries to break out. “When 2.5 million people live in a closed-off Gaza, it’s going to be a human catastrophe,” Sofer told an interviewer in the Jerusalem Post (11 November 2004); “Those people will become even bigger animals than they are today, with the aid of an insane fundamentalist Islam. The pressure at the border will be awful. It’s going to be a terrible war. So, if we want to remain alive, we will have to kill and kill and kill. All day, every day.” He added that “the only thing that concerns me is how to ensure that the boys and men who are going to have to do the killing will be able to return home to their families and be normal human beings.”
>(To another killer): Had you left the fetus For thirty days, the possibilities would have changed: The occupation might end and that suckling Would not remember the time of siege, And he'd grow up a healthy child, become a young man And study in the same institution with one of your daughters The ancient history of Asia And they might fall together in passion's net And beget a girl (and she'd be Jewish by birth) So what have you done then? Now your daughter has become a widow And your granddaughter an orphan? What have you done to your fugitive family And how did you strike three doves with one shot? *Butterfly's Burden pp. 132-133*
