Not really, unless you're a fan of the UI/UX changes.

It's still tough to meet new people my age- I graduated from college before the pandemic started, and I used the pandemic as an excuse to keep myself indoors and introverted. I'm definitely struggling, because while I'm not the most social person, I still crave some sort of social interaction with people in person but just have no sense of how to go about it.
I joined just about a week ago, and it's crazy how much has changed in just one week. I went from seeing new posts every hour or so, to new posts pretty much every minute. The only minor downside of this explosion (just personally), is it seems like my posts and comments are getting less discourse than last week, but for some reason, I'm not too discouraged and finding myself posting more than I ever did on Reddit. I'm hoping the communities stick around even with the Reddit blackouts ending.

Sorry to hear that, I'd think your friends would understand that they shouldn't gatekeep gender identity.

NFT still stands for No Fucking Thanks for me.
It's really a shame that businesses just see this as another business decision (I didn't expect much from corporations anyways).
I find this hard to believe.

The new Padres broadcast looks pretty smooth, and fans will actually get to watch their team without paying $200/month for the cable RSN package.

It's crazy how much Outman cooled off after his rookie of the month award; he was looking like the ROTY but not anymore. That's pretty much Corbin Carroll's to lose at this point.

A's fans really deserve better. It's also somewhat ironic, with all this Las Vegas move stuff going on, that the A's have longest active MLB win streak at 7 games.

Game devs won't stop making FPSes even if they can't innovate because the yearly iteration will sell like hotcakes regardless.

Yup, I've tried searching Discord servers as a last resort for some technical issues, but man, their search really can't differentiate between technical terms properly. I'm hoping they fix their search function at some point, but given how the username system change is going, I'm not holding out hope.

But as you point out, the original expression “pull yourself up by your bootstraps” is intended to be an absurdity because you literally can’t pull yourself up by your bootstraps.
It's funny, because a lot of the people saying this now probably got ahead in life because they took a small present of $1mil from their parents or trust fund.

I think email is worth paying for, to avoid Google or whatever other provider from scanning all of your emails. I don't have anything interesting in my email, but I'd still like the peace of mind of knowing that my email provider isn't reading every line of my messages.
Otherwise, with journalists moving to new platforms like Substack, good quality news/journalism on the internet is getting a bit expensive, but with the way online platforms work, paying a small amount every month seems like the only way to keep good journalism alive these days.
I'm not sure I'd pay for Reddit, but I would pay a small monthly fee to keep my favorite third party Reddit app alive, because that browsing experience is just so much better than new Reddit or the first party app.

This also highlights the problem with a lot of communities moving to Discord, which inevitably ends up as repositories for critical information, but can't be indexed by Google. Reddit is still valuable as a problem solving resource, and I hope they fix this API fiasco.
This Lemmy community is still pretty small but it would be cool to see the MLB fan discussions migrate over (selfishly, too, because I'm probably not going back to Reddit).

I think the Braves are still in good shape to take the NL East pennant, unless the Phillies or Mets have a major second half sure and the Braves slow down.

Exactly, I don't enjoy games that feel like a chore to play. The fact that it doesn't have a true pause feature is also a major no to for me, I play games to unwind.
I don't blame anyone from not wanting to work in those states.

How've people's experiences been with this port on the latest patches? I bought it on launch but had to request a Steam refund because of how badly it performed on a RTX 3070 gaming box.

Elden Ring, I get why the game appeals to so many people, but the entire Soulsborne series as a whole just doesn't appeal to me (because of gameplay style and fantasy setting).

Disappointing, since P3's female MC is the only one out of 3-5 that can have queer romances, not to mention better social links (subjective, but I think so). I guess this is why they ported Persona 3 Portable, even knowing that the remake was coming.

Good to see Google supporting the foldable effort, I think as far as standard phone formats go, they've reached a point where there isn't much more room to innovate.

Definitely a lot of the technical communities, but I'm also hoping that a baseball and/or basketball community starts growing here; sports discourse on the Lemmy fediverse is still a bit slow.

Seth Curry at 53 feels a bit low, he definitely can be a good shooter for a contending team next year.
There's been so many new laws passed across the US (and some other countries world wide as well), that makes it feel like even visiting another area is unsafe. I feel like I can't go anywhere without feeling like the entire state is out to get me.

If they manage to pull this off, I can't help but imagine it'll just be a repeat of the Nets big three years; absolutely stacked starting 5, bench squad, not so much.

True, I feel like I've heard more about all the drama surrounding some of the players (most recently, Ja Morant, Zion) than actual analysis of the games.
Not sure if this has been posted here before, but a friend sent it to me and I thought it was funny.
I'm sure this was a business decision, but it's still funny to see the haters get so mad over this.

We really need access to proper care in the US, it's unfortunate that so many people have to turn to OTC products when there's malicious people out there like this.

It definitely seems like they want to build out the app ecosystem with the Vision Pro, and then probably release a more mainstream, less frills headset down the line.

A win for the LGBTQ+ community (even if it's just a temporary injunction), especially for those that were at risk of losing care. Good to know that there's folks in positions of power that still care, especially in Florida.

I only joined the main Lemmy instance a couple of days ago, but browing by new, there's a pretty consistent stream of new posts now, even compared to the first day I was on here. I'm excited for this community.
