100% My job is to stop the team from feeling all the corporate BS as much as possible. I'm an ex-dev myself so my job is to make sure they're OK and that thy're not getting pressure from stakeholders/PMs/POs etc.
A massive amount of tech managers have zero empathy sadly. But I'm the complete opposite. If anyone in my team isn't doing OK they just need to tell me, whether it's financial, personal, work-related etc.

I'm a dev manager... I have 3x4k monitors. I watch server loads, I watch the build pipeline and watch the commit logs etc.
Overkill these days, but I'm also a gamer sooooo....

So for you you're much more just on the vocal side? Or a mix of vocal and rhythm?

So Oceanlab is Above and Beyond with Justine Suissa (who is amazing). But yeah as a group sans-Justine they are also very much melodic and generally vocal trance.

I'm a senior manager at a pretty big company.
That's something she does on the side, and if anyone in the workplace gave her shit, I would tell them to leave it the fuck alone unless they wanted me to bring HR in to the convo.
Can people please not be cunts? (I'm an Aussie...)
Edit: People need to disconnect things. Say there's leaked nudes (or even just public nudes) of a work colleague. Let's take it to they used to do porn. Yep, that's something they did. That has zero impact on their role now or who they are in their role. They don't deserve shame, or ridicule.

A big one for me is Oceanlab - Breaking Ties
Lots of history there with an ex... But it's all valid too (if that makes sense)
I tend to find song lyrics, tones of music etc. really hit me super hard. I'm curious to know how others feel? So a couple of songs to add to this: [ Oceanlab - Breaking Ties ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g13nsQaCxbg) [ Randy Boyer & Eric Tadla feat. Dan Sanfilippo - Alive (HeatBeat Mix) ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POtXdBmNx2o) (Sorry, I'm an old-school DJ) But I do want input. I find music really hits me hard, and that's actually OK. So hit me with your songs.
I just love this song and wanted to post it to the community. It also holds a bit of a place in my heart. The lyrics are a bit dark but I have been there.

I once got a taxi from Sydney airport when I was there for work. The guy tried to go through the boom gate by tailgating the car in front. Broke the boom gate and just kept driving.
Lots of taxi drivers here are completely terrible. Try to rip people off and have had a lot of friends file sexual harassment complaints too.

It was a problem with early WD green drives IIRC. The power management was exceptionally aggressive and caused massive issues when put in to any RAID-like set up. You could override it though generally.

I manage a web dev team. We try to optimise as much as possible but then there's all sorts of tracking that gets tacked on by personalisation teams, opti teams, things like Tik Tok, Facebook, Twitter/X scripts inserted too... It's pretty shit. And sometimes when things break it makes it super hard to debug too

Shit 2 weeks at work and I'm OK? It's my job to look after my people even if they have fucked up and they have
But I'm not doing great generally. I'm feeling worn down. I will literally expend my all my energy to provide support for my team, but I'm flagging.

This is a very lengthy examination of the primaries. It doesn't really conclude anything except that the process in 2016 wasn't as transparent as it usually was and it might be reasonable to think it might have been rigged.

Completely agree. I will admit Australians are terrible at casual racism then when someone gets (rightly) riled up the response is "it was just a joke!" is super common too, which is just doubly insulting.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply you should just use it at random and it's acceptable. As with even words like "queer" you should know whether they're OK with using the term to refer to someone rather than just assume they're OK with it.

I was surprised about "wog" too. I'm a Melburnian and reading some of the comments here just made me realise it could just be a Melbourne thing. A lot of my friends refer to themselves by that term and want us to use it too as a sign of closeness/affection.
I'd never heard Paki in Australia before either.
Really it's all about intent and intonation. Given what we call close friends and sworn enemies alike ;)

Great breakup song if you want to just let it out
John Farnham - Help (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dv54giOSRKs )
This is a cover of the Beatles song. Very different vibe to the original

Good week overall I think. Work has been a bit crazy which I'm trying to sort out with management to slow things down a bit for the sake of my team and my own mental health. Plus being at conferences doesn't help...
Been losing a decent amount of weight too, about 10kg in the last 3-4 weeks and starting to 'regain' the muscle I had when I was younger and a gym freak. I think this is more just getting my muscles used to regular exercise again so it'll plateau soon. Just trying to get in to a health(ier) routine all in all.
Sadly missed the weekly online co-op gaming session with friends since someone messed up the days. Also bought some new furniture to make the place feel a bit more homely.
So all in all, doing pretty well.

I live right near the MCG and a decent number of people still drive in. I'm not sure why though since the city council makes a fortune by doing the rounds 2 hours in to a game and ticketing everyone without a parking permit (which is a lot of people) and the number of vehicle break-ins is pretty high too.

Being the petty person I can be at times, someone on ye olde reddit posted a list of people who "died from the vaccine" and listed... 23 names I think it was? I looked up all the information I could on all 23 and concluded 2 of them I couldn't definitively say what their cause of death was, but not a single one pointed to the vaccine (and a not-insignificant number wouldn't have even had access to the vaccine in their country at the time they supposedly died from it.)
I know it didn't change their mind because hand wave reasons

I've done a bunch of transcoding of things to x265 in the past (as I'm sure everyone is aware transcoding isn't GREAT but cuts down on storage costs). With that said I've now moved to AV1. I don't use GPU encoders at all as I found the quality to be pretty terrible. I just use a custom written ZSH script to go through and check the current format (it also converts audio to OPUS too)

A bunch of friends and I have been playing Sniper Elite 5. It's a mixed bag of varied experience. Some are terrible but just enjoy the shit talking (I'm one of those) and others just kick the crap out of the rest of us. But it's a fun bonding experience too since you can have up to 4 teams against each other and just need to make sure there's a fairly even balance.

I actually wanted to look this up. This is an interesting article - https://www.newyorker.com/news/our-columnists/the-evolution-of-alexey-navalnys-nationalism
"He has never apologized for his earliest xenophobic videos or his decision to attend the Russian March. At the same time, he has adopted increasingly left-leaning economic positions and has come out in support of the right to same-sex marriage. This strategy of adopting new positions—without ever explicitly denouncing old ones—is probably the reason the suspicion of ethno-nationalism continues to shadow Navalny."
I personally don't have really have opinion either way but was curious.

Psychosis is a literal break from reality. I suspect when the police showed up she was no longer psychotic and realised what was happening and couldn't deal with what had happened. She knew she did it but couldn't understand how or why but knew she did it by physical evidence, she now knows she did it but the integration of her psychotic state and actions to her non-psychotic state would be crushing, hence the suicidal actions she had.

Like a lot of things it's a differential analysis, meaning it's down to narrowing things down but there is also blood tests, chemical tests etc. It's fairly accurate but relies on anecdotal evidence such as past historyt etc.
Many years ago I worked in 'criminal psych' but this isn't just "Oh I think this is why it happened." The article is light on but it seems she has never shown any psychological/psychiatric issues. This is a difficult one for me since I've seen people with substance-induced (or drug-induced) psychosis.
Psychosis is crippling, and she will be experiencing guilt and there's probably an onset of a psychotic disorder. People saying she 'got off light', while she's lucid she knows what she did and will be struggling for life with this.
Seems very applicable to some of my personal life right now so dragging it out! :)
Title says it all. What's your favourite remixes, alternate versions (including acoustic, house etc) of trance tracks?
An amazing trance/prog trance tune
