It absolutely makes sense. For us who want to game but also need a computer to do day to day work and meetings. I'm not buying two computers, so what I buy for work is what I have to game with.

As an adult, I pay for winrar purely because it helped me so much for free as a kid (especially pirating other software).

Yeah I'm European end my job in accounting makes me have to work with American banks regularly. So let's just say my expectations on American banks are quite low.

Their policy should just be to reset the password immediately and have the user set a new one. This is one hell of a risk.

Communism isn't about exegesis. It's not about who understands the source texts or believes in the correct unadulterated virgin idea. There are many schools of communism and they have all changed with history in some way.

Lmao source please? For the church/zealots-part. Also I don't think you understood the concept of the dictatorship of the proletariat and the way Marx uses language to get his point across. Maybe you should read more secondary literature?

Lost of syndicalists see themselves as communists. Including myself. I've been on the board, on the administration team and the negotiatiok team for my syndicalist union. All communism isn't leninism.

I'm just happy to be here. I care less and less about reddit. Using lemmy and mastodon for a while, it's gotten more and more important to me to just build a great, fun, healthy community and less important (emotionally) to bring down the giants. I still care about it politically and theoretically, I just don't feel it as much.
A light fast to all who fast on Tishe Bov. I'm always a bit worried about doing it with our kid who's 2 years old now. It takes a lot of liquid and energy to keep a 2 year old entertained during a fast day.

Picard is a real quote machine. The one closest to my heart is:
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : There's no greater challenge than the study of philosophy.
Wesley Crusher : But William James won't be on my Starfleet exams.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : The important things never will be. Anyone can be trained in the mechanics of piloting a starship.
Wesley Crusher : And Starfleet Academy...
Captain Jean-Luc Picard : Takes more. Open your mind to the past - art, history, philosophy. And all this may mean something.

Agree. I almost exclusively drink from tap. Bottled water is a waste of money. Boiled water is for tea.

I think some local context is worth it (I'm Swedish). This is a result of the fairly new parliamentary coalition in Sweden between the right wing conservatives and the fascist party. The position of the fascists range from that climate change is a hoax to climate policy doesn't work. The conservatives have generally just used nuclear power as a copout so they won't have to acknowledge that they lack any climate policy. They also have several open climate change deniers in parliament.
Since they took power, they've been shutting down project after project, budget after budget relating to climate policy (edit: especially when to comes to solar and wind power, and deforestation), especially after completely shutting down the department for environmental policy. So my guess is that this is mostly a way to cancel the old plan to make Sweden fossil free.

I'm good with most kinds of oat milk (and I live in a country where there are plenty). My wife, who's much more of a coffee snob, only drinks Oatly's dedicated coffee milk (which is probably called Oatly Barista where you live).

I just wanted to try Lemmy and this instance was recommended to my by my tech friends. I haven't coded since high school (the closest I get is a couple of hours of trying SQL). I work in accounting, live in southern Stockholm, Sweden, union activist in my local syndicalist union, member of my local masorti synagogue. I'm in charge of internet security and other IT related issues on my firm, but that's because we're small and I'm the least bad on the position. I'm still struggling to get people to move over to password managers (yeah some co-workers still reuse passwords). After that, my plan is to push for 2FA where it's possible (though we already have it on our most crucial system).
