Obviously take these translations with a grain of salt, they are not the official. And please read the official on a platform like MangaPlus or Shonen Jump later to get the official translation which should be more in line with Oda's desired interpretation. "The Siege Barracading Incident"

So - it looks like it was all before Luffy met up with them after Enies Lobby. Koby’s style of dress hadn’t changed yet, and Helmeppo’s style was still bowl cut and no eye covers.
That said - that’s just when Koby started training with the Battleship Bag concept. We saw last chapter that it took years for Kuzan to catchup to Garp in the quality of hits he was doing - so Koby being able to have a really destructive hit a couple of years into that type of training is maybe a little surprising but ultimately is why Garp had so much faith in him as the future of the Marines.

Now it’s much more believable that Garp is dead - he’s laughing while freezing.
With that said - Kuzan hasn’t really ever actually killed someone in the series. Legitimately everyone he’s frozen on panel has lived - Saul, Luffy, Robin, Buggy, Blackbeard’s crew…
I’m looking forward to jumping back to Egghead and seeing how the crew handles the Siege, and gets our stone-turned members back in action.
Not sure how we plan to do things in this magazine in terms of handling spoilers and leaks yet, so I’m putting that in the title. Not sure why these scanlations are half colored, but it is what it is. Chapter 1088 - The Last Lesson

At this point - all we control is how we respond to it.
If it’s awful, then dang, the naysayers were right.
If it’s decent - are we a community that lifts it up to give it a shot at a second season and more refinement? Or do we let our nitpicks become grievances that drags the opinion down?
If it’s good - then it probably doesn’t matter what we think as manga/anime fans - a good show with these characters and key events will find an audience.

The weirdest part to me is that it doesn’t feel like we’re getting any hints of Kuzan regretting this or even being uneasy about it. Garp was his mentor even if it wasn’t as direct as Garp’s relationship with Koby and Helmeppo.
Is Kuzan actually a baddie, now?

I feel like the only thing that might be even remotely be a mark against you is if it really was as quick turn as your post makes it seem. Even if it was a deserved ultimatum - if you allow them the option to break the news themselves, I think an allowance of a day or two to form the right way to break it to them might have been better for her current standing with the kids.
But ultimately - no matter how much time you gave her to prep that speech, it likely wouldn't have saved enough face for them to feel more cordial in the short term.

It’s not crazy at all. They want the social expectation of what “far left” is to get established at Biden as a baseline. So they’re going to tie that label as much as they can so that when actual progressives put out a platform they’re seen as completely insane and non-viable despite the rest of the developed world doing it for decades.

Prior to ESO, though, Elder Scrolls was a franchise entirely marketed at people who wanted single player RPG experiences.
Even if it’s still Elder Scrolls content- a good portion of that original market is not going to have interest in a multiplayer experience. Or a subscription experience. Or a”live narrative” experience with gated content windows.
It’s a very different experience at its core, so while there may be an overlap between the two markets in the Venn Diagram, it’s still a very different market segment than a pure single player outing.

I mean - they’ve had teams working on Fallout, ESO, and Starfield simultaneously. What work was probably going to be dedicated to ES6 probably got transitioned to ESO or Starfield. They’ve definitely had multiple teams focused on multiple things - ES6 just got deprioritized.

If this season survives to a season 2, I think the content creators that the showrunner interacts with would be more than willing to send him honest feedback to implement into season 2 scripting. Right after the trailer dropped he went on stream with Rogersbase, Jay D Legend, and Randy Troy. So - if the show survives and you want to provide feedback that has a chance to get to Matt - watch those guys.
That said - Luffy acts slightly different. That's potentially worrisome. But until we see that more western humor directly undercutting key moments, I don't know how worrisome it is. I think it stems

To be perfectly honest - I’ll likely stay here for content that typically ends up in large subs. Programming, World News, Politics, Ask _? That’s pretty well covered here.
But I’d use my third party app of choice to check in on subs that haven’t really taken off here yet. I haven’t had a decent conversation about One Piece yet on this platform. The Colts magazine equally dead. Game specific magazines and conversations are not very active here.

It could - but Episode 36 of the anime is “The Worst Man in the Eastern Seas! Fishman Pirate Arlong!”, and chapter 96 is the “Meanest Man in the East!” referring to Luffy’s new Bounty post-Arlong Park.

I know it says these aren’t in order, but, I think they might actually be?
- Romance Dawn - Likely covers Roger’s execution, Luffy and Shanks, and Luffy vs Alvida. Maybe ends on Luffy and Coby arriving at Shells town.
- The Man in the Straw Hat - Shells Town - Nami we saw in the trailer is in the fight at the end of this, not certain how they’ll rework it. But this will be Luffy freeing Zoro and beating Axe Hand for Coby to join the Marines.
- Tell No Tales - I could maybe see this title switched with the previous one, since Zoro is supposed to die on that cross. That said - Strawhats vs Buggy.
- The Pirates are Coming - Syrup Village + Acquiring the Merry.
- Eat at the Baratie - Intro Baratie - Luffy’s debt, Sanji feeding Gin, Sanji’s backstory, Nami departs and Krieg Arrives?
- The Chef and the Chore Boy - Mihawk arrives, Zoro vs Mihawk, Chefs vs Krieg Pirates, Sanji vs Gin (maybe Pearl in some sense?), Luffy vs Krieg, Sanji’s goodbye.
- The Girl with the Sawfish Tattoo - Cocoyashi village intro - Luffy and Sanji’s arrival, Arlong’s betrayal, Nami’s backstory, Tears, the walk to Arlong Park.
- The Worst in the East - Strawhat Pirates vs Arlong Pirates, Destruction of Arlong Park, Departure + Barrel Scene.
Looks like Gaimon and Loguetown are both on the cutting room floor? Perhaps Loguetown still happens as episode 1 if we get a season 2? Which would suck because it kills all tension in the “I’m dead!” scene.

That CGI is probably my biggest gripe with this entire trailer. Because it could be improved so much with some alternate shots and cutting.
The goal should be to avoid the uncanny valley as much as possible - so it should be quick, and the focus of the shots should be on the parts that don’t stretch.
That shot alone would be improved by having it start on Luffy shouting “Gum Gum” like it does, and showing the arm stretch in away from the focus of the camera. Then, rather than rotating, cut to the point where his fist will end up and have it approach and stop, before pulling the camera with it to hit Alvida.
That’s legitimately 1 cut and alternate angle for much of the stretching footage. And I think it could have looked so much better. The other problem is how shiny the fist is, that’s not really how flesh reflects light, but I feel like that’s an easier fix in future seasons if we get them.

And I’m fine with them wanting to do that.
The protest was less about them wanting to charge a price, it’s that in a time frame of 6 months reportedly went from “the API won’t have changes anytime soon” to “we’re going to pivot to a paid API soon” to “we’re charging you advertiser rates per x million API requests, starting in a month, and you cannot supplement with your own ads”.
There was no time for these apps to adjust their pricing models. Most were on yearly subscription models or ad-driven. Having that large a pivot in the rules with no time to adapt the business model is just shitty partnership on Reddit’s part.

Which means the longer that the minimum wage for tipping remains $2.13 for nearly half the United States - we’re probably going to see that social expectation rise to 25%.
Which honestly- sucks more for the workers than most of us who will be shifting to that level of tipping. Because it will be met with social resistance to wanting to pay more, and probably a period of actually less income for them.
jinno 1 year ago • 100%
The problem is - restaurants in most parts of the states cannot reliably do that. They’re going to see a higher price and they’re probably walking out soon after. Or worse - they stay and leave a shit review because they set their expectations at a higher bar of food quality than was provided.
If we could unilaterally remove exemptions for tipped wages, I’d see the possibility of it becoming much more common.
jinno 1 year ago • 100%
Exactly. But they dropped exhorbitant cost on those apps and provided no runway for them to adapt their business model. So instead - I’m here on kbin and likely going to dive into an open source project to try to help get a mobile app for this out soon.

Yeah, I was an original buyer on reddit gold. Then I got 2 years free because of the Alien Blue shutdown, and I never reupped afterward, because it didn’t really add anything to the experience.
And by the looks of it “avatar upgrades” and “Custom app icons” ain’t really providing anything else of value still.

You can however reach a level of confidence about a negative.
Like, I can't prove that putting my VR headset on didn't actually send me to another world... but I've got a pretty high degree of confidence that it didn't.

Rest of the week? No.
The answer is until they lower to a more reasonable price and work with Apollo and RIF (at the very least) so that they can keep their apps running while transitioning their users to a new pricing structure that will allow them to not be bankrupted in the short term because of the price adjustment.

Ironically, reddit was open source. Here's the python source code repo for what the site was between 2005-2017. They have it preserved in an archive, and reddit the company still does contribute a lot of open source code and to open source projects, but I don't think the react rewrite of the site is included in that list.
