I've actually done analyses with OECD data. It's terrible. This is about as good as it gets. Countries don't report these data points very reliably. You get some that are a decade old,m some that are much newer.

The real bias is in the use of "non-emergency surgery" as a data point. Look at time to see a specialist and you'll get a much different picture.

Beyond what the article mentions (more people opting for retirement communities/assisted living/nursing homes), changing dating trends, better physical health for seniors, increasing divorce rates, etc., Id doubt there are that many other factors.

Did you have a rebuttal to the specific claims in this article, like chlamydia (plus gonorrhea, syphilis) tripling among seniors in the past decade? It certainly sounds like it’s increasing to me, but I’m not an expert on this

But I think @ada@ada@lemmy.blahaj.zone makes a great point. I post articles that largely pertain to men in !mensliberation@lemmy.ca, since that's a feminist space dedicated to men's voices and highlights how inequity impacts men. To piggyback off their point, and I do realize the irony in me saying this, I think there's a downside to men driving the conversation in feminist spaces (e.g.: the most upvoted comment ends up being about men). Men already dictate hegemonic beliefs in most spaces in society.

Just to piggyback off of this, it's a myth that OF is much better. We're talking taxis vs Uber here.

If you wanted an article discussing the facts of drug smuggling, yes, your article is short, sweet, and to the point. However, all of that content AND MORE is included in the original, since the point of the original is how people have shifted right on drug policy, despite there being no evidence for Trump's statements.
