Nah. As long as your instance is federating with all the ones that you want to interact with, there isn't much of a reason to have multiple accounts. However, if you want to see and interact with content that your main instance has blocked, you might then make another account.

Sync is closed source, while most of the other apps are open source. So you can't see or modify the code of Sync.

How could I have forgotten iTerm2... These are all great suggestions though! Going to give Amphetamine and IINA a try!

These are the Mac-exclusive apps I use regularly on my MacBook Pro 14" CotEditor Amazing open source text editor just for Mac BetterSnapTool for snapping windows (old school I know) Image2icon is useful for making my dock icons consistent TopNotch because the notch is annoying TG Pro because Macs get hot Keka because sometimes you run across a RAR or 7z file
These are just Mac apps, but I also use a bunch of cross-platform apps

The only exception is if one of the two servers has chosen not to federate with the other. In that case, you would want one on each account. However, that's pretty rare as of right now.

Looks like it can be self-hosted. You should be able to install Docker and run it with the docker run command it shows (then go to localhost:8080). Here's a link to it on GitHub: https://github.com/rystaf/mlmym

Have you considered installing a custom ROM? That's what I do especially if the phone is still totally functional. It looks like Lineage supports the 4A https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/sunfish/

Even though Lemmy and Kbin use two completely different software platforms, they are both based on a technology called ActivityPub. This allows different servers (instances) to talk to each other using a process known as Federation.
At the moment, Kbin is federating (meaning talking to other servers, including Lemmy), so you can view and interact with Kbin magazines from Lemmy. I am not sure how it works on Kbin, but for us Lemmy users, we copy paste the Kbin link into our search bar.
So no, you don't really need to make separate accounts unless the instance (website) has blocked yours or vice versa.

It's because whatever app you are using to flip it is not removing the EXIF metadata, which the camera saves into the file. This contains data about what position the camera was in when the picture was taken. Some websites or apps use this data to flip the image when it's displayed. So if you want to have it right side up when you flip it, you either need a app that removes the EXIF, or one that modifies it.

It's different for us Lemmy users. Too unblock a community, you have to go to the community itself and click unblock. Edit: It's also in settings under blocked on the website

It will get there. I don't think it's going to be the same as Mastodon, because on here it's actually somewhat simple to find things.

As far as I am aware, logins are not federated. I would think that federating the logins would give opportunities for other instances to potentially decode your password because of the way that federation works.

I'm just happy to be on social media platforms that are compatible with each other, instead of having to argue with someone on which one they use. This is the future!

It works! This is the coolest thing I've seen so far! I had to use the actual link to the community though (I couldn't use the exclamation mark syntax)

Does something special have to be done to get it to show up on Lemmy? I've put in a few of them into the search and they still don't show up. Granted, we are still on 0.17.3
izax 1 year ago • 100%
Don't forget you can also follow communities on other instances too! If you put something like !Videos@sopuli.xyz into your search box (it can be buggy sometimes, give it a few minutes and retry). It should also already show up if someone else did that already.
I've noticed that communities from sopuli.xyz aren't showing up in the search. Is Pawb.Social having issues federating with that instance? Or is it just that the instance might be overloaded?

I've been looking networking/hosting types of communities. So far I've found selfhosted@lemmy.world, datahoarder@lemmy.ml, sysadmin@lemmy.ml. Not sure about Judo but don't forget you can always create a community!

Yeah! Apparently a PR was open a week ago but they just merged it in today.
izax 1 year ago • 100%
Yup. Then it doesn't hurt the asshole because they can just move to a different instance with like-minded people, which is not a problem because of blocking instances!
izax 1 year ago • 100%
Looks like they just merged the change in a few hours ago. Unfortunately it wasn't released in 0.17.4, so it'll probably be in the next release either 0.18.0 or 0.17.5

I've created the issue. It looks like it only affects when a video is hosted on a different instance than the one you're viewing on. Here's a link to the issue: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/1221

~~Thanks! I'm not sure if it's because your instance is so new or not. Can you post it somewhere on your instance and I can check if it loads there? ~~ Edit: Disregard it looks like it does

I'll be happy to file it. Can you reply with the original video again so I can point it out? I saw the error message.

Looks like it might be a bug. In Firefox, I'm seeing "No video with supported format and MIME type found" but if I right-click and open in a new tab, it works.

I have seen others explain it like email. Email accounts will still exist regardless of if, say, Gmail shuts down. Same with fediverse instances. Unlike traditional social medias like Facebook and Twitter, people can talk to people on other sites. Imagine if people on Twitter and Facebook could reply to each other

Hey, thanks for responding! I like your style, but mainly looking for multi-pose. I'll reach out if I decide on this.

The closest thing I could think of is other instances blocking the troublesome one. Maybe if they add support for moving your account to another instance, then you could just move in protest.
Hi, all! Is anyone available for ref sheet commissions? I have a general idea of what I want my sona to be, but I need a base completed. It should be pretty basic as you can see by my avatar.
