    What to do about this ceiling box?

    greetings, firstly, i hope this is the right place to be posting questions. if not, i'll delete it Upon replacing a ceiling fan with [this one](https://www.hunterfan.com/products/ceiling-fans-dempsey-low-profile-with-light-44-inch-fam773) (20 lbs), I learned that the box isn't rated for a fan: [images](https://imgur.com/a/fYPKLKL) 1. would you go forward with the installation anyway? 2. Can i make this apparatus fan rated by attaching a different box to the mount? 3. If not, how would you go about removing the old mount? many thanks in advance

    No issues. It’s been about 5-7 years. They’ve since introduced new (to me) models:

    so i guess i'm supposed to cut it like this? (that's a st louis rack from costco.) spruce eats (link) and serious eats (link) appear to be doing that. that makes the most sense to me because it removes the section that has those “dots”. But go to youtube, and it looks like many of them cut a straight line. is it just a matter of preference?
