The use of AI (i.e ChatGPT etc) can be a way to help with quickly creating an story outline from your basic idea.
Give it your basic story context, the characters (even if it's just a vague description) and the essential idea of the plot.
The AI will then create a storyboard you can use as prompts for your writing 👍

Using lemmy directly will give you more control over the post and lemmy specific features...

Better marketing? Not sure...
And given #xmpp can do things like !movim @lemmy.ml, it's a shame it's not me widely used.

XMPP rooms a generally limited... but you can use the bridging function to access Matrix rooms, which there are more of ATM

And you can use the cross-posting function to make your post appear in multiple communities across instances

Some information here from the #Pleroma documentation
https://docs-develop.pleroma.social/backend/administration/CLI_tasks/emoji/

On the backend - Lower resource requirements on a server...
On the frontend - Post reactions (instead of just liking a post), Increased character limits on posts (default is around 5000 characters), can use markdown, BB Code etc formatting
There is now an official Protonmail Community at !protonprivacy@lemmy.world

Misskey, Calckey, Pleroma, Mastodon- All perform the same essential function. Microblogging (with minor differences e.g Pleroma has a 5000 word limit per post) Think Twitter.
Pixelfed is an image sharing platform - Think Instagram.
Friendica will give you a similar experience to Facebook (Macroblogging)
None of those platforms have real messaging (Direct messages, but not private or encrypted)

Almost all sites have an RSS feed...
https://rss.com/blog/ as some advice on finding them...
Even a lot of fediverse platforms e.g Mastodon have RSS 👍

It might be helpful to add the contact information for the Lemmy Matrix room using the XMPP address as well? #lemmy#matrix.org@matrix.org XMPP users can add this room to their XMPP clients and easily join the room... Just a thought

Here's another option for joining Matrix rooms from XMPP 👍

**Topic:** RSS Recommendations **Feed Name:** RSS Recommendations - Lemmy https://lemmy.ml/feeds/c/rss_recommendations.xml?sort=New **Version:** RSS 2.0
If you're a user of [Movim](https://movim.eu), then you've probably seen that your can subscribe to various pubsub feeds.. For some extra content, you can add pubsub.do.nohost.me to your server list for some extra RSS content...
If you've moved away from the 'Big Tech' companies, keeping up with the latest news and information may be a little harder.. Thankfully, RSS is still around, but which feeds to follow?? Hopefully people can share their quality feeds here for others to benefit from
#Syncthing is a great tool for decentralised syncing between devices.. and with some simple configuation, can act as a backup service too.

I'd probably go look a Syncthing... Probably the easiest solution for what you've described

Checked at https://xmpp.net/ and it comes back with an 'A' for the s2s connections... The only thing I can think of is that the certificate does not have a wildcard..

That I don't know... It's using Matterbridge, I couldn't find anything on the subject for it...
I do know that it shows the method <XMPP> and the user handle...
It might be a limitation of the bridge.. 🤔

Might be that Yunohost is not adding the subdomains to the LetsEncrypt requests..
Will check it

For those that are using #XMPP, I've created a Lemmy chat room at [lemmy@muc.do.nohost.me](xmpp:lemmy@muc.do.nohost.me?join) which bridges to the Lemmy Matrix room....

Another option is to use a VPS, like Linode, Digital Ocean etc... Then install Yunohost with these instructions... https://yunohost.org/en/install/hardware:vps_debian
As for video calling, follow the instructions in the link - Some thing not immediately obvious is apt install coturn to get the video server installed...
Other option might be to install Snikket, which has everything bundled... https://snikket.org/service/quickstart/

I really think Movim has a lot of potential, especially if you're looking for something that can basically replace Facebook and Messenger..
Or even if you are a blogger....
A recent influx of users to Movim has seen the developers have to move the flagship server to a larger hosting provider... It now runs at https://mov.im

Great work by the developers on this app... Installed from the GitHub site, but will be great when it's on something like F-Droid...
Here is a small utility that can grab atom feeds, and pass them to an XMPP pubsub node... Great if you're using Movim👍
A site to help newcomers more easily onboard to XMPP.. Along the lines of joinmastodon or joinpeertube

You could look at https://tinylist.app/, which allows for self hosting... But it is pretty basic atm.
I don't mind paying for the extensions as it supports the opensource project (they provide the basics for free)...
imattau 4 years ago • 100%
I can vouch that the extensions work on the self hosted setup. (Got the Holiday special)
The encrypted note taking app Standard Notes, is now available as an install on the self hosting platform #Yunohost. Just another option for taking control of your own data..
Thanks to this video on #Peertube, I found out about a Google Keep replacement call tinylist... No account needed... and the data can even be self hosted (if you like)..

#Peertube video from Chris Were discussing Matrix v XMPP (v IRC)... This one appeared to get some comment interest... As a Yunohost enthusiast.. I fall on the XMPP side (especially now that I got audio/video calling working on Metronome)..

It's one of the only reasons I keep an account on things like Twitter - basically to advocate for the fediverse, and apps like Lemmy, Peertube, Pleroma etc...

The inertia of using the 'mainstream' platforms will be one of the hardest things to overcome.. If all your friends and family are on platform X, and they're not coming to platform Y with you... well, it could be a rather boring experience... at least at first..

China is reportedly continuing its crackdowns on press freedom's, with another citizen journalist being jailed.
According to @dansup (Pixelfed lead developer), federated, community based forums are coming to Pixelfed...

Thought this might be worthy of a share... @gina@fosstodon.org has started a conversation about the #fediverse having some kind of 'get together'. While not everyone will celebrate Christmas, the idea sounds good. The discussion thread is here https://fosstodon.org/@Gina/105413435972524739

You can check the-federation.info... https://the-federation.info/hostingreport
There are 11 federated instances reported in China... 1 in Venezuala, 1 in Vietnam
Have there been any thoughts to add Lemmy to the list of available apps for Yunohost?
Looking for suggestions for Mastodon relays servers.. Recently started self-hosting my own Mastodon instance, so I don't have the advantage of my former instance.

Finally got around to installing Protonmail Bridge and setting it up to work with Geary on Ubuntu... Took me a little while to figure out that the bridge uses a custom password.. (the setup instructions didn't mention that)
