Do cars have SIMs inside them that have free 4G/5G access and can send information that way?

Yes, most modern cars do. At the very least those with Infotainment systems. They pull updates and traffic data that way (and a bunch more).

I know we are in a privacy community here, but i personally would question what you are trying to do here. Don't get me wrong. Staying away from Tesla and other Companies that are trying to sell heated Seats as a Service with a subscription to wipers or such is certainly a great idea. But beyond that, i don't think there's too much to worry about. My 2022 Kia Ceed has a build in Infotainment system and some sort of internet connectivity. And if Kia wanted to, they probably could track where i drive. But at the point where you are carrying a phone, i'd worry much more about that than about my car. Ripping out Radio antennas probably doesn't do a whole lot. And depending on where you live, emergency location information provided by the car might be mandated by law. Skipping infotainment systems also might not help. Most manufacturers build more or less one trim level and enable/disable features you pay for. They might not bolt the display in, but the Computer behind it is probably still there to some extend.

At least in the case of Kia i haven't found anything in their privacy statement that suggests they are collecting data from the car beyond what they read out when you bring it in for service. I'm no lawyer and am not sure if they have different privacy policies depending on the country you're in, but it's good enough for me.

Only AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support. Mostly because wine apps and games tend to open a floating systray if it isn't there. Other than that, i'm down to no other extensions. I found that most other stuff i changed/added either sounded nice or looked nice in screenshots but did nothing for me in day to day use. Don't get me wrong. Blur my Shell, Burn my Windows or Dash to Dock all look great. I just found that, after the initial wow factor, they don't do much for me. The effect wears of quickly and then i don't notice wether they are there or not.

Depends on Load. Realistically, one of the used "Mini PC's" from Lenovo or HP with an i5 and integrated graphics should be decent for a couple of concurrent streams. They are pretty cheap on ebay. You could even get 3 or 4 and cluster them in some form. But most SBCs won't work too well since transcoding needs a decent GPU of some sort.

That's why i chose the opportunity now, early in, to "move" to an instance in Germany. I still have to rely on the instance owner, but at least juristidiction is that same as where i live and GDPR/DSGVO is something i can somewhat count on. But in the end, it also is the question where the server is. Is the instance hosted on a QNAP NAS in someones basement or on an AWS instance in the US. That's my biggest gripe when everyone in the privacy community recommends federated stuff. The notion that some dude in Iowa or such is more trustworthy than some corporation is pretty questionable if you ask me.

I think having your account tied to an instance without an option to move is a huge issue. Now I'm still dependent on the instance owners rules and willingness/ability to keep it up. Just like reddit oranzy other centralized network. Accounts need to be movable including history and linkage to posts. Same goes for communities. We are just hyper fragmenting now. Communities need to.be able to span instances tobincrease performance and uptime as well as resiliency.

Jerboa works fine for me. The overall experience and peoeple are nice enough. We just have technicalities to iron out.

    KWin Crashing/Restarting after sleep

I'm not sure if this is a KDE or Arch thing, but it's kind of annoying. I just set up a fresh install of arch with latest Plasma. I use the wayland session. After having the Session locked for some time or have the PC in standby, unlocking the session will lead to kwin reastarting/crashing. Since this is wayland, this also kills all with it. Any ideas what it might be or how to troubleshoot? I'm not getting any other errors and the system runs fine otherwise.

On Desktop, 100% yes. On Mobile, Browsers in general suck pretty hard, and i often much prefer the app. If only for Notifications and recent apps being easier to manage than tabs.

Currently, afaik not. I'm in the position with three accounts now and posts/notificatios spread among them. It's so inconvenient it's not even funny.

Currently i'm on Arch. Mostly because it's the easiest option for me to get a Plasma Desktop that's up to date. KDE moves so fast nowadays, that i want to be on the edge.

It's pretty easy. He's been lucky with the work he did (stole/claimed) once or twice in the past and ever since everyone is eating the BS he says. Twitter is only one thing. Hyperloop, SpaceX etc. are all Ideas a 9 year old would come up with and are so out of reality it isn't even funny anymore. Or remeber when he was reinventing the Metro, but worse?

He has be so rich so early in his life, that he never had to grow up. He then surrounded himself by yes-sayers and was lucky with how Tesla turned out (in that it got evaluated like a tech company, rather than a car company). Ever since he can't fathom the idea that someone might know something he doesn't. He also can't grasp the idea that money can't solve certain problems. His twitter posts show how little self control he has and most of it reads like things my 5 year old nephew would say. It's insanity.

I'll be honest: I always prefered the "new Reddit" over the old one. With that said, the App sucks balls and it going public (as it always does) killed reddit within a few days. Now we just hope lemmy catches on and fixes some of the inherent issues with decentralization.
