This is a ridiculous quote but probably only to us. This is the ideology I was taught. We learned all about colonialism and its horrors in school, but the conclusion was never that colonialism was bad. The conclusion the kids reached based off the information provided, the take away the teachers wanted to leave, and of course our governments position boils down to - 'it sucked, but we wouldn't have our great amazing world now without it :^)'

why are the cons resorting to the comrade harris thing, more than any other democrat I can remember they are leaning on this weird marxist angle where they make shit post tier commie posters of kamala
this is going to be laughable on the face of it to any center leftie and the further left you go the more you're just creating a subconscious connection between kamala and communism that might even rouse a communist to give a shit just for the sick prop posters alone
I guess it's just for the cons to share and updoot each other

truly comprehending that my way of life is only possible via the labor exploitation of countries I've never seen and are told not to visit did a lot to turn me into an insufferable tankie
Extremely specific game request thread. I love what I've come to call 'Semi-Idle' games. I work from home and am determined to act my wage so I like to have fun while on the clock. I'm not going to disregard work entirely but I want to play video games. So I leave a game running on my third monitor. Enter my need for a game that doesn't demand all of my attention, but is a little more hands-on than a screen saver with increasing numbers. A game where you are rewarded for letting things run, but it's not the entire point of the game. Some examples of what I consider 'Semi-Idle' with justifications: -**Project Zomboid**: Game incentivizes basically sitting around and passing the time. I like to loot in spurts and then leave my character eating/working out/reading while I work. -**Super WorldBox** Godsim sandbox. I can spend time setting up a world which I then let play out on its own, occasionally jumping in to disturb the peace. -**Fallout 76** Fallout 76 lets you set up a player-made camp where others can visit and buy from your stores. I find it enjoyable to leave it running and see who comes through. -**Sonic Adventure 1/2** I'll play a level or two and then idle in the chao garden, just taking in the vibes and watching my chao do what they do. Clicker games and other idle-genre giants aren't really my thing, but if you know of a clicker/idle game that might fit the description, feel free to recommend those, too.

it's a weird premise for a political comic because like your average communist is just not going to participate in electoralism, you can figuratively drag them kicking and screaming and they're still not going to vote for you lol

That's sad, man. He is so confident that everyone else shares his innate incuriosity towards one of the most ancient and prevalent forms of art/expression that humanity knows. Because he's so incurious and ambivalent towards reading he geniuenly doesn't understand the unique benefits of sitting down and directly engaging with something in a purely cognitive way. He thinks everyone is like him and, funnily enough, reading a bunch of non-fiction is the best way to get yourself out of that headspace.
As an aside, and not breaking new ground here: this guy is intolerable to listen to? he has a really arrogant/smug personality that he can't stop from shining through. He has terrible camera presence and I think he's kind of embarrassing to listen to. How does he have a fan base?

Yes! They patched it out of the directors cut, though. Personally I think much of the personality of the game was stripped away when we could no longer make Norman Reedus drink three full heart attack potions between each mission.

anarchism is a handy tool for radicalization. lots of people get attracted to the cool aesthetics of anarchism and that feeling of intellectual superiority you get when you can recite some obscure untested and unfounded political theory
so it's ineffective outside of the individual's ego but it does position them firmly against capital and modern statehood. if you sit in that long enough you start to build genuine hatred for the status quo. genuine hatred leads to genuine curiosity which leads to actually reading theory and uncovering the utterly absurd idealism of anarchist theory
this isn't like a codified pipeline and anarchist theory still poisons the well of a lot of western leftist discussion, but most commies I know in real life had personal brushes with anarchism in their past. and if all else fails they're still useful idiots when things get spicy. that whole 'you're alright now, it's after the revolution we'll have problems' meme.

it's not your fault that sort of crushing labor is poisonous to your soul. we're all a product of our material conditions and yours are different to others.
i struggled a lot with work myself, feeling useless for most of my life because i couldn't enjoy or even tolerate most types of labor that were available to me. there was no easy solution for me but it's not an impossible situation to escape.
the support you're going to get from your comrades on grad won't be as helpful as support you can get from your co-workers or other people immediate in your life. when I worked a factory, we had union reps visiting throughout the week. even just talking to those guys made me feel sane, though the trade union situation in my local area meant they weren't effective help, they were firm commies (that just couldn't say so in as many words.)

it's disgusting, obviously, but it's so mean-spirited as well. like it's resentful, geniuenly hateful, due to a perceived trend that women have sex with dogs

If you join an official public server, there's an extremely high chance you'll join with cheater bots that spawn endless, aimbotting snipers. It's less of a problem on community servers as they're actively moderated by players, but official servers have to rely on vote kicking a fresh cheater bot every few minutes.
This is all done by some script kiddy group who apparently want to highlight Valve's deprecated support. Basically ruin the game until Valve fixes the game. There's also some measure of farming ingame item drops to sell for money, I think.
angrytoadnoises 4 months ago • 94%
Honestly, I don't believe save TF2 will get anywhere. Valve is clearly uninterested in supporting the game, and who could fault them? It's an old game, and games don't need to be supported just because people play them.
The real problem Valve is playing with is that TF2 is still monetized. They should not be selling microtransactions for a game this broken. If they weren't selling microtransactions, they would be entirely in their right to kill all official support and leave the game to community servers.
My main concern is that Valve will calculate this over the bad PR they're receiving, and rather than do anything to curb the bot problem, simply kill their support for TF2. I would be okay with this. I think most people wanting to #SaveTF2 won't be.

my time working in a factory was similarly crushing, though, i always believed that if the job had paid well enough and considered me as a person and not a number on the floor, i would prefer manual labor over the mindless white collar shit i'm doing now. but we'll never be in a position where labor workers are compensated entirely for the body and soul crushing work they're expected to do, so i'll never be in a factory again.
hopefully, anyway.

I think there's something to be said about raising kids in a Marxist environment, though. Even if they grow up and have a fundamental disinterest in that sort of thing, you've normalized Marxist thought and maybe even warded off some brainwashing from capital. That's a powerful thing, making even one to three new people who believe Marxism to be normal and logical in the west.

communist algorithms censoring your ability to use the word kill might be the worst misunderstanding of capital advertising spaces that i've ever seen
how is it that lefties simultaneously want to put you against the wall for not using preferred pronouns, but also are so afraid of the word kill that they use the algorithms they're definitely in control of to censor it?
Audiobookbay is a great site, and 80% of what I need is on there. Frustratingly, the 20% I'm missing is seemingly nowhere on the net. Any comrades have an alternative I can look into? Or, hell, if anyone has the audio book for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Firestorm, I'd probably shit.
I really, really like For All Mankind. It's a good sci-fi show. It's not winning any awards for its depiction of the USSR, but it firmly puts the Russians in the antagonist seat, not necessarily the 'irredeemable evil' seat. FAM getting a spin off entirely focused on the Soviet's perspective during its alternate history is not something I ever expected to see. Considering that the latest season of FAM establishes the USSR outliving its real-life point of collapse, while retaining its communist values, I hope that this 'Star City' spin off is going to be an even more humanizing look at the Soviets.
I've never talked about anything that could even be considered close to Marxism with that side of the family. This MF has a sixth sense or something. His previous book suggestion to me was 'How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization.' I don't have any purpose to sharing this. I just thought it was funny.
For All Mankind is an AppleTV original that shows an alternate history retelling of the space race. In this AU, the Soviets land on the moon first, which extends the space race into a decades-long conflict. The show currently covers about 30 years of alternate history showing the US and the Soviets establish a moon base, new propulsion systems, and eventually landing on Mars. This show is *really* good. It's excellent hard sci-fi. It really sticks out to me, though, for its depiction of the Soviets. See, in this universe, the Soviet Union doesn't collapse. At least not at the same time it collapsed in our own history. Instead, they stick around and consolidate significant power, winning victories they lost in our own timeline. This means that by the 90s, communism has essentially rooted itself as a dominant ideology in most of the world. Now, don't get me wrong: this show depicts the soviets as evil, with the KGB boogyman following every Russian character. But the show doesn't do a great job at depicting this. Instead, the Soviet Union ends up being an absolute economic powerhouse that consistently keeps up with the US at every turn, only starting to fall behind technologically for unclear reasons in the latest season. Hell, Mexico is communist in the FAM timeline. I think this is telling. If you construct a universe where the Soviets 'don't lose,' they end up winning. Half of the world is communist and it's gotten to the point where it seems internally inconsistent that the US is managing to keep up. I just wanted to post about one of my favorite TV shows. Anyone else watch FAM?
