I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone talking about "StreetComplete Expert Edition" (SCEE) which I find to be the best middle ground between usability and control (you can directly edit tags but also have all the quests StreetComplete offer plus a few more)

When the choice is die other price gouged, people take the second option. Insurance likely pays this all in weird ways too. I'm sure some numbers were crunched to work out how many people they let die and how much more profit it'll make them.

Far too late, people now know that better alternatives that respect their users exist. Sure massive corpos will still use unity but it's not the indie darling it once was.
Anyone who has watched it, I'd love to hear what you all think about the show. For me the way it went off the rails is emblematic of how far people will got to pay off their loans and the way they got it back on track is so emblematic of why I love dropout

I know so many trans people who can't access legal health care due to years long waiting lists or very expensive inaffective private health care. In the UK it's between waiting ~4 years for health care or becoming a criminal.

I grew tired of manually posting new episodes so wrote some code to do it! New videos are uploaded at 00:00 UTC so at 00:15 UTC the bot will check the new releases playlist for anything released in the last two days that hasn't been posted. If you have any questions about the bot I'm all ears and the source code is available [on GitHub](https://github.com/ChildishGiant/dropout-lemmy-bot)

Ministers were eager to emphasise that the suspension did not represent a step away from the UK’s commitment to Israel’s security
"Israel's security" has nothing to do with bombing people in tents.

I was in multiple psych wards in the UK as a minor and hooo boy were they not good. Most were state-run but one time there wasn't enough beds in state-run wards so I spent 3 months in a private psych ward paid for by the NHS. This was the worst of all. There were clear signs of them taking their time to release people so they'd have enough beds full. I mean we were all there against our will anyway but they dragged it out. It was awful in lots of other ways but I'll save that for the memoirs.

You could say that for everyone pushing for an encryption ban. If they use whatsapp, encryption, if they use https websites, encryption. Banning encryption is nigh impossible, it's like trying to ban prime numbers. What they'll actually do is get even easier backdoors and criminalise the masses that use it while still using it themselves.
I made [c/dropout](https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/c/dropout) a bit ago and I'm making a script to post new videos automatically. Are there guidelines for bot accounts on here anywhere?

Signal is a nice suggestion but is based in the US meaning they could be subpoenaed and legally not allowed to say. It's unlikely you'd be targeted though, unless you're a very high-profile person. If you're concerned about where servers are being run and who by then matrix is a great alternative.

This comes after a sea of games have been lost due to the creators turning off the servers. While community remake projects like [RELB](https://relb.org/) for Lawbreakers, [Loadout Reloaded](https://gitlab.com/Bedebao/loadout-reloaded) and a [server emulator for The Crew](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIo4l-BpK8s) exist, they're miles behind where we'd be if publishers just released a way to host our own servers before killing their creations. They need more signatures from European citizens and then the proposal goes to a board who decide what to do with it.

We plan to release Factorio: Space Age expansion on October 21st 2024. The reasoning for this date is that it will give us enough time after summer vacations to polish the release, while also leaving enough time afterwards if we need to do bugfix patches before the Christmas holidays. The price of the Space age expansion will be $35.00, the same price as the current base game. You can wishlist the game now over on [Steam](https://store.steampowered.com/app/645390).

Taken from a [Press Release by the group](https://transkidsdeservebetter.org/support-grows-as-teenage-trans-activists-enter-their-third-day-of-protest-at-nhs-englands-headquarters): LONDON, 1 July 2024—Two young trans activists scaled the NHS England’s London headquarters at 133–135 Waterloo Road in London on Friday to stage a protest and have remained there ever since. The group, now made up of seven young protesters, all 18 or under, has one simple message: Trans Kids Deserve Better: we are not pawns for your politics. The powerful direct action has been organised by the “[Trans Kids Deserve Better](https://transkidsdeservebetter.org/about)” network, which is calling for: access to gender affirming healthcare for trans children and young people, protection from discrimination and disrespect in their daily lives and the right to be heard in all decisions that affect them. Their protest comes in the wake of the government using emergency powers to ban all access to puberty blockers in the UK, a move that was supported by Labour’s Wes Streeting, likely to be the next Secretary of State for Health. It also comes in the context of a General Election campaign where trans people and trans youth have been used as ‘culture war’ talking points, but not allowed to speak for themselves. “We are staging this protest to remind politicians and voters that we’re real kids, not just political talking points. We may not have a vote, but it is our lives that are at stake,” said one of the activists staging the protest. “Gender-affirming healthcare is a matter of life and death for us, and we hope that our actions will bring awareness to this fact and encourage others to fight for the healthcare and dignity that we are so shamefully denied.”

New tory policy on trans kids just dropped: force them to transition or we take them from their families 🙃 They're really hoping that all the trans kids kill themselves and some have due to law changes already. Bad news for them is that there's never been world without trans people and there never will be.
Obviously not *the* solution but it's a tiny step in the right direction.
The UK government are set on eroding any right to protest that is left. Please do anything you can. I don't care what banner you do it under, just please do something. Michel Forst, the UN Special Rapporteur on Environmental Defenders, has [scalded the government](https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/jan/23/un-expert-condemns-uk-crackdown-on-environmental-protest) for their draconian crackdown on any people trying to sound the alarm but as we've seen recently, there is no justice system and countries cannot and will not hold each-other to account. You can read his report [here](https://unece.org/sites/default/files/2024-01/Aarhus_SR_Env_Defenders_statement_following_visit_to_UK_10-12_Jan_2024.pdf).
