Harris has already been performing better than Biden in polls vs Trump. Other alternatives have been performing similarly to Biden, but that's without considering that they don't all have the name recognition of being the current president and the likely nominee. Biden looks like a losing candidate. Wouldn't both the moral and strategic answer be to run somebody who can beat Trump? Stopping the Christofacists from getting even more power seems both strategically and morally good.

Stopping that is important so why should the Democratic party not run the candidate most likely to win? If you think Joe Biden is the most likely to win Democratic candidate then I'd argue your misinformed or willfully ignorant.

Republican voters are happy with their nominee. While the Democratic party has its die hard fans many people vote for them as damage control. Many people can not be bothered to vote because they don't feel like either party represents them. Wheeling out somebody with a sub 40% approval rating and abysmal polling isn't going to increase voter turnout.

My argument is not that Trump is a better option than Biden. My critique is that running Biden shows an increased likelihood of a Trump presidency when looking at polling data. Keeping Biden in is a losing play and no amount of covering your ears when polls are brought up will change that. So, eat me.

There are plenty of people who will vote for the democratic nominee even if it's Biden, but if his performance reduces voter turnout then we get Trump. You overestimate the political literacy of the average person. A lot of people are burnt out or apathetic. You should want somebody who will beat Trump. Why are people hellbent on sticking with the candidate that has a poor approval rating and is polling poorly?

I didn't like Biden as a candidate before becuase of all of the reasons he's been a favorite of the donors that you're mad at for no longer supporting him. I don't think he has the best shot at besting Trump. The media and donors suddenly turning on Biden is because of his dismal polling and a debate performance that worsened it. They are interested in their investment above all else. Biden is a career politician and he has been a favorite of wealthy donors until he became a liability.

I'm curious why you're so ride or die for Biden. I'd prefer candidates other than Biden or Harris, but I'll support either over Trump. I would prefer if the one picked is most likely to beat Trump though. I don't like Christofacism.

Pretending that there's no possible other candidate doesn't make it true either. Other candidates haven't had to lobby delegates at convention since the 60s but the mechanism is in place for that. Another option is for the party to rally behind Kamala who is polling above Biden and who would also have access to previous their tickets campaign funds.

I agree that Roe V Wade is this election's spoiler and Biden has been doing a lackluster job at drilling into that.

I would literally even take Kamla who is also unpopular, but I'm sure has a better shot. She also has the benefit of having access to Biden's campaign donations if he drops out.

It is not just that he's old. Biden has such a low approval rating that it's comparable to Trump's when he lost reelection during a pandemic.

If you truly do care about putting up a fight against Project 2025 then it is important that Democrats run almost anybody else.

Also, the articles about Biden's perceived inability to get elected are not a waste of time. The donor class is finally recognizing what many of us have known and are pushing for a change. I can kick and scream all I want about how I don't want Biden but I don't have money to fund campaigns.

After rereading my comment I'm sorry that I started out so aggressively. That wasn't fair to you.

I think the feeling of fewer good shows coming out stems from a few places.

1. The shows that we remember tend to be the ones that left a lasting impact. I think that when looking back it's important to recognize our nostalgia tinted lense.

2. The feeling that there's so many more shows may come from the accessibility that streaming services have created. Scrolling through massive catalogs let's us see the massive amount of options and how few of them we actually want to engage with. I'd argue that the ratio of good to bad shows isn't substantially different from before, but how we engage with these shows have changed. Admittedly, I haven't counted all of the good and bad recent shows and then compared that with the amount of good and bad shows from a couple decades ago.

3. "They don't make shows like they uses to," is the type of thing people have said forever when their tastes stop developing and the cultural zeitgeist moves on without them.

In addition to the shows you mentioned, I would add, The Bear, The Last of Us, Arcane, and Our Flag Means Death.
