that SNW clip didn't rub me the right way. This video gets into why...

That still doesn't answer why Sutekh couldn't just see her mother like all the other 7 billion humans on earth. Why her and not the other 6.9 billion people out there? It being random is just bad storytelling imo

I liked it but I'm finding the answers to a lot of the mysteries unsatisfying and I feel somewhat deflated. Why the snow? Why the song? Doesn't make sense if her parents are just humans

Plenty of US shows go live on streamers at midnight for one of the coasts, seems like they're just treating Doctor Who the same but for the UK?

Yeah I think a lot of Chibnals detractors are in for a rude awakening. Sure, you can say it wasn't woke for RTD1 but that's nostalgia considering he:
- parodied Tony Blair with John Simms master
- created an out and proud pansexual in Harkness
- portrayed the Doctor as ambiguous sexually, accepting advances from Jack and Lynda (?) In parting of ways
- the slitheen two-parter being commentary on the war on terror and false claims of WMDs
I think that in the time since 2010, RTDs writing experience and the general increase in right wing radicalisation since 2015 are combining to create these decisions like able bodied Davros or 14 regenerating clothes

It wouldn't be so bad if classic who was consistently paced. The black and white episodes had some real bangers that I was engaged for the fill 22 minutes, but a lot were just slogs.
In principle I do believe a good story can carry anything - visuals are secondary in a compelling plot.

I think that they want to go for a big, epic, nostalgia-heavy trio of specials to entice people back in before Ncuti comes into the full series next year. I saw the tower and it's the single part of the trailer that's sticking with me. I always loved the first RTD era for it's somewhat grittier, critical view of UNIT in the context of the rising surveillance state of the early 2000s, so this tower seems like an extension of that viewpoint, given how entrenched said anti-terrorist dogma has gotten.

A set of Doctor Who (2005) posters for each season for anyone who uses a media server. I love the art and the use of the appropriate show logo for each season.

I thought it would be for the 60th so that would mean November for some of it, and I think then it's a Christmas Special. Idk how many total are with 14 before the proper season with 15.
Thought it was newsworthy for this community!

Because that sure didn’t seem like a ‘redeemed’ Anakin.
I thought it did. The world between worlds is tied to the cosmic force, so "force ghost" anakin could probably appear however he wanted, so sith eyes and red saber were used because thats what Ahsoka was aftaid of, and confronting fears is very Jedi - Yoda went through a similar experience fighting a manifestation of the dark side within him. Additionally, Ahsoka's fear was also impacting what we saw on screen - I don't think he was choosing to flash into Vader, I think that was Ahsoka projecting.

I think they're probably doing what they did for the Clones, have a set actor for live action and TV. Casting an additional person to play the young Rosario Dawson version prevents that from getting muddied.

"The force existing all around us" is something that comes from George Lucas himself, idk what this article is complaining about. It's a far more compelling universe if everyone exists on a spectrum of force sensitivity ranging from Sabine all the way up to Anakin. It like the idea and think it aligns with what George was trying to do with the PT era and showing how the jedi weren't ways right, didn't have a monopoly on the force, and that just because you couldn't leap from buildings and weird a Lightwave didn't mean you could open yourself to the force. It's meant to be a somewhat mystical, unknowable mechanic of the Star Wars universe.

Part of me definitely wishes we had gotten to the galaxy by episode 2 and had instead had the character-focuaed stuff be happening in a far more exciting context. It's given me the same sort of annoyance I would get when you're trying to leave town for a road trip only to keep getting delayed by needing gas, getting hungry, having to pee, etc.

I thought Hayden melded aspects of Matt Lanter's performance from TCW so well! It felt like he was both prequel Anakin and Clone Wars Anakin, delivering "snips" perfectly while also channeling his campy sith stare from Ep III.

On isolated, super rural areas where you're the only person on a dirt road for miles, I think it might be unavoidable during parts of the year or if the road is really intensive to bike (steep, sharp curves for example) BUT that's where you should be able to drive to your village or town center and pick up the 15-30 minute regional train.
Likewise that would mean the people closer to town who might already be walking to the barber or liquor store would also be able to walk to the station if they needed to go farther.

This is the ideal. I think a problem also comes up because I think a lot of people (DMs included) feel like "peak Dnd" is when you could in theory, go anywhere and do anything your party wants, and you just need to review few quick notes and be ready to go.

I really like how Apple Maps shows not just local rapid transit lines, but also the national carriers of many countries like Japan and even the US and Canada, but I know there's more out there (for instance, Alaskan Railway and Ontario Northlands Polar Bear Express). Anyone know good resources for this? I am aware of openrailwaymap, but it's a bit *more* than what I am looking for.
I love this song's energy and vocals. Grabbitz is an excellent vocalist and I just feel the title of the song throughout my body when I listen to it. Hope people enjoy! Youtube alt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw5w2lZoBAc
Like the iconic scene from that movie I've TOTALLY seen.
I'm currently on Season 4, almost done with it as I'm on "The Evil of the Daleks". Who's watched the older stuff before? How much? I find it somewhat hard to follow (especially the reconstructions with stills) but I always have tvtropes + tardis.fandom to refer to as well.
I thought it was intriguing, and slower than I anticipated until the very end. Seems like a middle ground in tone/pacing to the other Mando-verse shows and Andor. I didn't see a post here so I figured, why not? I'll be back tomorrow after I sleep to chat more.

As requested, more of my stash of Star Wars memes
I've got a massive Star Wars meme folder, built up over years of browsing /r/prequelmemes and old FB shitposters. Hope that these "reposts" are okay, but I just want to see this community active!
I have so many playlists I can share here. I am OBSESSED with making playlists with particular vibes. I'm currently playing this one now after a long week of moving apartments. I'm physically tired but mentally AWAKE, which leaves me in melancholic and reflective mood.
Sorry preemptively if there's an actual tech support instance for this space, but I didn't see one linked in !Main. I can't seem to log into sh.itjust.works on Firefox. I thought it was some weird mobile shenanigans that I've come to expect from phones (mine is current Samsung) but it's also happening on my Mac Mini. In both cases, it just spins forever when I click log-on. I really don't want to be forced to move instances or use this from Chrome or Jerboa. Is anyone else having this issue? Anything I can do to fix it on my end?
The official playlist last I checked focuses on the 3 songs everyone knows and then just has random pieces of the score instead of being an expansive look at the sounds of Star Wars. Mine tries to be in chronological order, although I need to re order some of it.
I thought this might be fun to share with the fledgling community.
Pretty exciting to think about all the projects coming up over the next few years.
