For some reason I was just thinking about DKR yesterday. I would love another one! I had way more fun with it than MK due to the story mode and open world.

If your 401k, Roth IRA, and Traditional IRA are all maxed out… A) great job! and B) put it into a regular investment account (not recommending Robinhood, but that’s the easiest example). There’s no max on that.

I’m mostly referring to flavor. No one is buying these for “sugar + milk” flavor.
Steve 1 year ago • 100%
Is there a way to buy milk with any of these flavors and sugar already in it?
It’s so simple for people to open the fridge and dump some International Delight creamer into their cup. I’m sure if there was a good alternative then a lot of people would do it. These creamers are no effort, no cleanup, cheap, and have a much longer shelf life than milk.

It’s almost hard to believe that someone with these would want to point out to the world that this guy is correct.

Reported, yes. Restored, no. Too lazy! I’ve seen a number of people mention also having the problem, just not on this site. Turns out my trick may not be helpful for everyone with the issue though lol

I agree that the joycons suck. On the upside, I replaced the sticks on both of mine for approximately $20 with parts on Amazon. Came with the screwdrivers and everything. Each one took about 20 minutes. I’m not forgiving Nintendo for making bad controllers, but being so easy to repair for so cheap… it’s worth doing it yourself just so you can play TotK.
I’ve made a few batches now, and while I figured out getting better carbonation, my kombucha just isn’t very sour. Or tart, or whatever the right name is. I started drinking things like Health Ade and other brands you commonly see in stores, and they’re far more tart than what my homemade kombucha ends up being. Do I just need to wait even longer before bottling? Last time I went about two weeks, and it’s really warm here right now. My brew room is over the garage, and much warmer than the rest of the house. I’m afraid to wait too long!

I don’t know how many others have this issue, but ever since dev beta 1 I’ve been missing texts left and right. No notifications sometimes, perfectly normal notifications others. It’s definitely a bug, but I believe I found the issue and workaround. If your phone is on mute (with the side switch), your watch doesn’t sound OR vibrate when a text message comes in. If your phone’s sound is turned ON, then your watch will vibrate or sound when a text comes in (whichever you have the watch set to) and your phone will stay silent. So I guess the workaround is to leave your sound on, on the phone, all the time so that way your *watch* can deliver notifications…

Get rid of everything you can! Books can be checked out from the library, and records probably don’t get listened to (if you use them, maybe keep the most used ones?).
It won’t help you today, but in my closet I chose a pair of shorts I don’t wear anymore and put them in the furthest right spot. Any article of clothing I wore and washed got placed directly to the right of the shorts. After a year (all 4 seasons) anything still on the left side of the shorts got thrown out or donated. It was a surprising amount of clothes.
Everything is replaceable, so give yourself a little leeway and while you’re hating your belongings trim down what you can. If you HAVE to replace something later, at least you tossed out dozens of other items that you otherwise wouldn’t have if you didn’t do this!

I’ve done two dungeons in TotK but I’ve spent 95% of my time exploring around. It’s the most fun I’ve had doing absolutely nothing story related! I rented Pikmin 1 and found it too hard with the time constraints (if I recall correctly), but later played 3 and loved it, so it’ll be good to dive back into that world.
The PSVR2 is full of pros and cons. It has mostly smaller games I would say, but that actually doesn’t impact my enjoyment like I thought it would. These small games are still brilliant, even if they aren’t God of War sized. Smaller scope can still be wonderful. My issue is comfort I guess. I have to wear a beanie to keep it from sliding down my head (it’s either that or tighten so much I get a migraine in 2 minutes, no exaggeration). Discovering the beanie trick helped my enjoyment a ton, but it’s still a device you have to wear on your head. It has weight to it and it gets warm with a beanie in summer and I can’t toss it on just anytime like I can pull my Switch out. So much less convenient! I just can’t play PSVR2 like I can play games without a headset.
That being said, I still think it’s a stellar device! Harder to recommend than a console, because cost and inconvenience, but still super cool. Unfortunately I don’t see myself putting in the time to make it worth $500, but if you like Gran Turismo it’s a really excellent way to play that game. People who enjoy GT freaking adore it in VR.

Just started with a new company and was told that we have quarterly reviews and requested I start working toward getting the AWS Solutions Architect certificate. I kinda hate it, but he also seems like a really nice guy and wasn’t the one that came up with the idea of quarterly reviews for the entire company.
Definitely don’t look forward to future reviews where I actually have to give updates and have “met goals” and such.

Ohhh gotcha. Sorry haha. I have had two Vizio P series TVs and they both allow volume and power control. Power doesn’t work 100% of the time but that’s probably because of the crappy HDMI splitter I have in the middle.
Steve 1 year ago • 100%
TVs can be HomeKit compatible, and you can control them via apps on your phone. Some (all?) Vizio TVs work this way and have an app called “SmartCast”. https://www.vizio.com/en/apple
I could be wrong but I think the AppleTV device is the ONLY thing you can control with the built-in remote on your phone. I think it’s a great device, so unless you’re already in the market for a TV I’d definitely get an AppleTV box. I might get one to go along with the new TV, too.
Steve 1 year ago • 100%
I think that would be awesome, but also absolutely 0 chance of ever occurring. Apple will never do anything like that, but if they were to, it would be on their own software and not a Lemmy site.

I’m excited to play Alan Wake since the sequel is coming (and looked nice and creepy!). June’s games were a letdown, but I have so many games in my backlog it didn’t matter at all.

I would loooove if we could get top down Zelda games occasionally between BotW-style games. Like how we get 2D and 3D Mario games. I definitely don’t need an Ocarina of Time type of Zelda anymore though. That version aged and doesn’t hold up very well anymore IMO.

Like many of us, still rocking TotK here. My wife and son played the Pikmin demo for a while today and that looks to be the next game we buy.
In non-Nintendo stuff, I’m at some point going to work more on my PSVR2 backlog. I bought a handful of games when it released but due to some major life events, and the inconvenience of headers, I haven’t been able to play much.

I think they're more just pointing out how this ruling isn't fair because of the fact that it doesn't go both ways.

Yeah you can tell whose side the media takes by how they frame it. Everyone, to include ALL THE DEE E VS, were okay with paying for the API. They just can’t pay the amount Reddit asked for.

I’m mostly the opposite. I try (very poorly) to both save money and live a bit of a minimalist lifestyle, so I trade in or sell every console I own when the new model is released. So backwards compatibility is pretty important to me. I would be happy to drop the joycons in the trash as soon as a new Nintendo console is released lol.

Have you read Brent Weeks books? He wrote a trilogy called the Night Angel trilogy, and just released a fourth novel called Nemesis. I admittedly haven’t finished the book yet, but I’m 75% through it and find it so much better than than the original three books. His writing has improved substantially over the years (side note: the Lightbringer series is incredible).
But all this is to say that Nemesis is about a heist. Weeks wanted to write a book about a heist and to try first person perspective, and Nemesis is what came from that.

Yeah this one is surprisingly good. My only issue, which is a deal breaker, is that I can’t swipe from left edge to right to go back to the posts feed after clicking on a specific post. The back button is at the furthest possible placement from my thumb, so it’s just not that useable.
Guess it was my phone getting buggy at the time. This functions normal :)

I definitely feel this way, all the time. Overcome it? I’ve never overcome seeing the problems and being frustrated, but I guess I did overcome the feelings that made me never want to create again. Creating makes me feel calm and good. If I look back later I’ll be disappointed, but that doesn’t change how that creative outlet helped me mentally at the time.
Keep going! We all suck in our own eyes more often than not, but it sure does feel good in the moment.

Not OP, but an IDE is the app you use when actually typing in your code. Like, every language could probably be typed up in Microsoft’s Notepad, but that would be awful! Other “editors” have color coding that make your code MUCH easier to follow. And, you know, dark mode.
VS Code, as raccoon mentioned, is my go-to. It’s free, and there are free plugins that color code any language you want to learn and help autocomplete stuff and other helpful things.
