Interessante, nunca tinha pesquisado muito sobre modelos de thinkpad, eu só conhecia os que pesam mais de 1,7kg (que são os que ja tinha visto pessoalmente, e a maioria que encontro quando pesquiso por usados).

Infelizmente os thinkpads menores que eu encontrei parecem ter uma bateria bem curtinha (2 ou 3 horas de duração), o que me deixaria meio refém das tomadas da universidade.

O notebook era esse modelo, que tem 10.000mAh. A bateria não durava muito com o windows, o milagre acontecia com debian+xfce e tlp.

eu sempre recomendo que seja um notebook com hardware AMD, afinal os drivers da AMD já são embutidos no kernel

Na verdade, eu nem saberia dizer qual modelo além de um Apple M1 em diante que entrega 10h de bateria com tranquilidade...

Pior que o ultimo notebook que eu usei (um Positivo de entrada de ~2017 que eu peguei de segunda mão da minha mãe) tinha uma bateria INSANA depois de instalar linux nele, o bixo podia chegar a umas 16h de uso. O problema é que o teclado já não funciona, a carcaça ta toda destruida e a tela nunca funcionou bem, sem contar que ele é um pouco grande e pesado de mais pra levar na bolsa.

Tem alguns artigos pela internet que falam que a bateria de alguns chromebooks podem durar bastante também, mas eu não sei se continuariam durando assim com linux

eu queria muito ter um thinkpad, mas eles são muito pesados e levar um todos os dias pra faculdade destruiria as minhas costas :(

o lemmy.ml já teve esse bug tbm, foi quando tinha atualizado pra uma nova versão (acho que 0.18rc). Eu acho que o bug nem foi corrigido, os posts antigos só foram sumindo aos poucos.

vale notar que esse bug só acontece com comunidades de instâncias de fora. Eu suspeito que seja comunidades recém federadas, e por isso o lemmy ve todos os posts dela como novos

I also recommend to disable the upvotes score visibility at the settings, it can help a lot on reducing social media anxiety

I don't think comments from lemmygrad's users should be a problem since they must follow the community rules. If you find an annoying user just block them, annoying users will exist in any instance, unfortunately

I'm not a programmer but there is this open source tool called genkey, which can generate desktop keyboard layouts. Maybe it could be somehow adapted for generating 3x3 layouts.

here in Brazil pretty much any big hardware store sell some laptops with linux, but they aways run some obscure unknow distro. Most people that buy them only do bc those are cheaper than the windows ones, so after buying it they just install unlinced windows.

if you're open for suggestions, I have some for the layout:

1- I believe it is a easier gesture to swipe from inside to outside than outside to inside. So a better placement for M might be swipe left, for example. Not just to be easier but also to avoid your fingers to hit at each other.

2- Maybe gestures for some common bigrams would be good, for example: swiping from T in direction to H could reproduce 'th'.

3- I think it is preferable to not include common consonants in the right column. A better typing flow for phone would be with a high hand variation, D and L in the same side of vowels might make you type some words with low hand variation. e.g. the word "should".

4- This is the most radical suggestion, but I believe a even number of columns is better than odd. Because the middle column might be confusing sometimes for some users as they have to choose which finger to use to press the keys in there, which would not happen with a 4x3 grid.

anyway, i'm so glad to see some love for alt keyboard layouts for phone! I will keep testing that one for sure! hoping for the best :)
