it blocks your internet if it detects you're torrenting. what are you using it for ? private tracker?

I want to add to this, if you want to stream from seedr, don't use their streaming option. instead, right click on download button, copy link, then paste in VLC.

not worth it, you have to wait for ages to get the book you want. (although at that point, you may as well dedrm the book and keep it. no need to pirate)

just skimmed through that link and it seems like it's for self hosting gitlab ? is there an instance on i2p so I don't have to self host (I don't want to) ?

but the difference between DDG and startpage is that DDG allows connections through Tor and VPN, while startpage doesn't. isn't it suspicious ?

Proton doesn't allow torrenting

you do realise gpt 3.5 turbo is still just chatgpt right ?
ShadowCat 5 months ago • 100%
then you're using fake ones, look here for legit ones, I personally use https://leechall.com/ a lot, never had any issue with it. these are the only legit ones afaik, all others are fake
ShadowCat 5 months ago • 100%
I'm pretty sure the bots on DDG don't have internet access, just try asking a question about anything that happened very recently (e.g. last week) and they won't be able to answer.
ShadowCat 5 months ago • 100%
they could've made it optional, then if someone wanted to, they could opt in. there are also open source models like llama and mistral which they can run on their own hardware. but that would probably be too expensive for DDG

for me, I had to constantly keep whitelisting stuff because of Goodbye Ads
ShadowCat 5 months ago • 28%
this was the perfect opportunity to integrate it with search like bard and ms copilot... but no, they will just offer them just like that, with hallucinations and all. claude 1.2 instant and gpt 3.5 turbo are not even that good
ShadowCat 5 months ago • 100%
I would just remove Goodbye Ads... it has too many false positives, not worth it. OISD + 1hosts lite is all you need (and language specific filters if you visit those websites)
ShadowCat 5 months ago • 100%
for torrenting, you only really need a VPN and a torrent client, as for precaution, I guess just bind qbittorrent with VPN. and for sites to find torrents, there's plenty on the megathread or fmhy, tell him to use an adblocker like uBlock Origin

couldn't he use ngrok ?

if you search "Free VPN" on playstore, turboVPN is ranked higher than proton
Edit: and I see its reviews are also negative, probably because of the connection issues (I've been having the issue too, takes a long time to connect if it even does

oh I didn't mean that I didn't enjoy it, I enjoyed it quite a lot it was a fun game and definitely worth playing. it's just that I felt like the game was trying to tell me something but I couldn't understand what. but I guess you're right
I'm bored of reading how Linux is better than windows, how matrix is better than discord, how foss is better than proprietary etc etc. I didn't even mind but it's always the same things everyone says... so anyway I want to hide comments that mention those words I already did it for posts but can't find an option for comments specifically (I'm using boost for lemmy, yeah yeah I know but I'm used to it I always used boost when I was on reddit and I feel right at home with it.) any suggestions?

I played this game and I don't understand it, what is the point ? honestly the performance of the narrator was amazing and was my favourite part of the game but otherwise I don't understand what the "message" is. ::: spoiler spoiler and like, who is stanley ? who is the narrator ? how come stanley can hear narrator's voice ? if stanley is in a game and we are playing that game, then narrator should be in the game too, somehow he is in the game and not in the game at the same time ?? :::

asking it its name is not a reliable way to determine which model it is, gpt 4 still thinks it's gpt3 (the reason it answers correctly on openai website is because they tell it that in the system prompt)

Since Lemmy doesn't hide the number of downvotes, it would be nice if we could see both values (upvote and downvote). is it possible? or atleast planned for future ?
on some comments, the number of votes is different when I view them from this instance vs when I open them in their respective instances. one more thing I've noticed is that some comments have 0 vote on this instance but in reality have 1 vote mostly from other lemmy instances like lemmy.world and kbin.social I'm guessing this has something to do with federation ?
what is the best way to learn C ? I know basic python but would like to learn C, I tried searching online but couldn't find a good resource that's good for a beginner like me. any suggestions ?
say there are three instances, A, B and C. if A is not federated with B, users from those two instances can't interact (right ?) but what if both are federated with C ? would both indirectly be able to interact ? if there is a post on instance C and a user from B comments on it, would that comment be visible on all three instances ?
