Oddly enough the opposite is true with Kamala. She was saying some wild shit 4+ years ago or just aimlessly rambling. Idk if she just got good scriptwriters since then or what, but it's a lot better now.

Thorns isn't a viable strat since you have a very low chance of actually getting it. This strat can work with huntress since the bow upgrades automatically, but upgrading your armor past 7+ is generally a waste. The fact that you have all those health pots left over is kinda evidence of that.
This is in the beta. I can't tell if this floor generation is intended game design or not. Yes I already searched for any hidden doors and there are none.

As a long time player, I agree it is a very big difference, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's worse. There is more information automatically recorded that is very relevant when ascending/back tracking, and doing this would have been very awkward with the old format. I don't think players should have to open the notes 25 times a playthrough just to record floor modifiers. While you could suggest a way to improve the current system, I feel that simply reverting to the old system isn't the answer.

I feel there should be some form of hint to the rat king giving the crown an extra ability, perhaps this could be implemented somewhere here?

The problem is pharmicaphobia(ignore spelling) and barren land invalidate those options.
I've been slowly increasing the number of challenges I play with, but I always get stumped on how to work around on diet. Does chalice of blood work even when starving/hungry? Does ring of haste effectively increase how much you are able to explore before going hungry? Is it more efficient to craft pies or not? Thanks!

Best strategy with dwarf king is to utilize burst DPS like fire, bleeding, and bombs to kill phase 1 before he can pump out too many summons. Phase 2 requires you to assassinate monks/warlocks since they are the biggest threats, and you can use your earth wand to help tank the rest. Phase 3 is a breeze if you have a potion of purity and toxic/corrosive gas, and a fire pot/paralytic gas pot helps. Just drink the purity, throw the gasses, and stealth for 20 turns while you watch the king melt. Don't attack to keep the invis, the boss will die from the damage over time and his summons automatically die after he does. A scroll of artifact recharging is helpful for the fight, but with your current hp you will have to rely on some crazy RNG.

The distinct advantage huntress has is the bow, which let's you whittle down the hp of enemies before you go into hand to hand combat. It is also important to note that your bow can be enchanted, which it is a good idea to do as soon as you find a stone of enchantment, since you use the bow the entire run.

Monk subclass has an ability which gives you a ton more energy for using low tier equipment, and even gives you some t1 equip for free when maxed. I haven't ever used that, but it would be perfect for this.

The risk with just throwing armor on to identify it is it may be cursed. Only do that if you have a scroll of remove curse, otherwise you could get stuck with uber heavy armor on and lose the run.

When crippled and free running you run as fast as they do. To run any faster, you want to have that ring of haste. When enemies move as fast as you, you can do a half circle around a 1 block obstacle (like grass) and they will lose track of you. Glyph of flow or haste also help, as will ethereal chains or timekeepers hourglass. Or just stealth, which gives you the bonus move speed even if not free running, just level the appropriate ability. Plus, free running stacks with haste or stamina potions, so use that to your advantage.

Whenever I play duelist I find myself going champion just so I can always use a daggers ability. I'll be fighting yog with a t2 dagger in my offhand just for the ability lol

The idea behind freerunner is that you run from fight to fight with enough time in between each encounter for your ability to recharge, so you pretty much always move at 2x speed with bonus evasion in combat. I would recommend focusing on throwables only if you have a ring of sharpshooting or upgraded boomerangs, as that makes you a menace at range. For this, you play similarly to a sniper build, with tele grab. Rings of haste and evasion also work nicely with freerunner. Tbh freerunner isn't as good as assassin unless you already have the rings I mentioned above or a ranged build with a crossbow or something, so you have items that synergise with your ability.

Also don't use it near enemies, since they can attack it and generally will one shot it. Place it several times away so that it can get it's shots off first.

If you click on the character icon and navigate to the page where it explains what options tengus mask and the crown will give you for your selected class, that info box for the crown will tell you exactly what the elemental strike will do with your equipped weapon.

I would ways run warrior, since he has a t3 ability hold fast, which gives additional armor that isn't reduced by the challenge.

Getting +7 on scale armor is questionable, since now you kinda have to commit to scale armor. Stick with scale for now, and if your ehp isn't too bad wait and see if you drop a +2 or +3 plate somewhere. Spending all of your scrolls on armor is going to hurt later on in the run when your damage starts to tank.

Am I the only person who didn't know you get a different ability if you bring the crown to the rat king?
Quick question. Armor augments sacrifice evasion for blocking power or visa versa. Glyph of Stone removes all evasion chance in exchange for blocking power. If you were to augment armor with Glyph of Stone, would you get more damage reduction from augmenting for defense, evasion, or neither?

Evasion builds are great with rogue, specifically freerunner since you get the juicy bonus evasion. It's also nice to get lineups with demon eyes and watch the friendly fire shred. But I only ever do that if I get a +3 ring of evasion from imp or smth.

Tengus interaction with charm is weird. He stops throwing shurikens at you, but will still use other abilities as normal (cause they aren't direct attacks, I guess?). This makes affection very helpful for the first phase and not as helpful for the second.

I agree lightning has it's drawbacks, but it's better than your other options right now. Obviously if you aren't in a desperate spot you could put off switching what's in your staff until you need to, and hope you find a better option
Riversedgeknight1 2 months ago • 100%
The chains and rof will help a ton. Personally, I don't like dumping upgrades into scale armor since you get more bang for your buck with plate, and now you need to decide if you are willing to stick with your scale for the rest of the run or not. At +5 it shouldn't become a problem until the last few floors/eye boss fight. I don't like prismatic in the staff since most of the benefit from prismatic is finding traps, secrets, and blinding ranged enemies, which don't happen often enough to justify getting 8+ charges of it at a time, so I would use lightning. Keeping magic missile is pointless rn, since it doesn't give you more wards or much damage with prismatic, and the extra lightning damage would be easier to get if you just put the lightning wand into the staff.

I would get to an alchemy pot to see what trinkets I get. Then imbue your staff with one of the wands you have and use at least 4 SoU on it. What wand you imbue is dependant on your play style/trinket. If you have 14str I would just try on the chainmail and hope it isn't cursed, it might be upgraded which would help. With a decent staff, 2 heal pots, and 2 blink stones from that teleport scroll, you should be able to kill tengu.

Someone clearly hasn't read the effect description of 'focused'. It is pretty clear that it will block an attack even if the attack is otherwise guaranteed to hit, which includes surprise attacks and duelist abilities.
Many games have a feature where you can clear the saved data and begin fom scratch. Reinstalling the game does not do this if you have Google play games on your phone, so could there be a way to do this in the app?
One great thing about spd is that the dev uses stats from players runs to make balancing changes. But I thought it would be cool if these stats could be made public so that people can see them. Another addition that would be nice is a global leaderboard, which shows that top scores that people have achieved, with the ability to see their gear, inventory, skills, score breakdown, etc. I am suggesting both of these things with the intent to make it easier for players to be able to look at the combos and strats other players use. Could these potentially be implemented in the future? Or are there already similar resources that I'm missing?
I see a lot of posts on this wiki about seeds that give overpowered items. These greatly reduce the difficulty of the game, but due to the popularity of these posts this seems to appeal to a great deal of the player base. Therefore, I propose the addition of what are effectivly Anti-Challenges, that reduce the difficulty of the game. Things like sadder bosses, night vision, large portions, or thick armor could function as counterparts to their respective challenges, with the cost of your score being reduced by a multiplier, similarly to how challenges increase your score. Perhaps this could only be unlocked after finishing a run with default settings, to preserve the learning curve and difficulty that PD has to offer. What do you guys think?
Personally, I love the changes made in the recent patch, I had been playing a lot with 6 challenges and had into darkness as one, so when I saw an enemy with huntress mind vision not auto targeting them was annoying. The buffs to ebony mimics drops is nice too, since there is a substantial increase in difficulty. What would be nice is if the sundial gave a small benefit, like maybe a small boost in luck, to compensate for the additional difficulty.
Sadly I have no receipts, but I have noticed instances of enemies that are asleep spawning on the same tile that traps are on. Is this intentional? Additionally, I was in a fire trap room in the sewers and a rat ran at me, I one shot it with ranger bow, and when it dropped coins on death it triggered a fire trap it was on. I don't believe it spawned there, so I don't think it triggered the trap when it ran over it. Has this happened to anyone else?
On average, does crafting the pie increase the total amount of satiety you have, or do you trade overall satiety for the faster health Regen?
