I think I saw this around four years ago for the first time... someone sent it to me on telegram, but in another language.

Not like this in Persian! Seperate is jodaa in Persian (جدا), and touch can be translated to tamaas (تماس).

I don't think so. I mean, even if an instance with an important community has a problem (e.g. goes offline) we can simply create that community on another instance, but as long as there are no problems I think it's better to have just one community.

I chose vlemmy.net for the exact same reason, too. Also it was the top instance on https://join-lemmy.org/instances the day I wanted to join another instance (I was on lemmy.ml then).

The Material Files repo shows the last update was three weeks ago, but the latest version on the releases page and f-droid are from 2022. This is confusing...

Aegis is great! I really don't know why people use Google Authenticator when much better alternatives exist.

Currently DuckDuckGo, but I will switch to SearXNG because of this.

You would probably get used to FlorisBoard after a bit of time if you try it. I was used to SwiftKey but I didn't like it because it doesn't have a good history, like suggesting private email addresses to other users, and it's for Microsoft. But now I'm typing this using FlorisBoard.
QuestionMark 1 year ago • 100%
Definitely FlorisBoard. I've also tried AnySoftKeyboard and some others in the past, and I think FlorisBoard is the best.

How are you supposed to comment or post to earn Karma if you're blocked because of having low Karma?! It is also bad for new users.
QuestionMark 1 year ago • 100%
It does! So it's probably because DDG uses bing.
QuestionMark 1 year ago • 100%
Can confirm this. I tried with bing. Same result. That was why it wasn't working, because of bing. Thanks! I'll probably to switch to something else now.

Thank you for the recommendation. I tried SearXNG once. It was good, except it had some problems with some languages. I'll try SearXNG again. Perhaps this issue has been fixed.

Searching "PeerTube" doesn't return any results. peertube (all lower case) doesn't return anything either. What's funny is that "pertube" returns the correct results for "PeerTube". It seems like it works like this: If the IP requesting the search is from my country and it's searching PeerTube or peertube it's going to block the search. But why should it?! PeerTube isn't blocked here. YouTube is though.

Yes, I tried with SearX, and it worked. I tried another browser too. Same result.

I tried turning it off completely. No changes.

It was on moderate. Turning it off didn't make any changes.

I had tried SearX. It was good until I tried searching in my native language... Guess I'll have to use SearX for my English searches and DDG when it fails. Thank you for the info. I'll read the links you included in your comment.

I just tried it with a VPN and it worked. Turning it off and refreshing the resulted in no results again.
But I can open https://joinpeertube.org/ without a VPN. This confuses me.

Even more strange is that when I type "PeerTube", some suggestions appear, but searching any of them will end up back on the "no results found" page. The suggestions: ![](https://vlemmy.net/pictrs/image/21c0f286-653a-4612-a5a2-c014e3ede12d.jpeg) Searching one of them: ![](https://vlemmy.net/pictrs/image/fb8ea646-7dbc-4bfd-b8e0-295392e0f1c1.jpeg) It has been a few weeks since I first encountered this issue. I've tried again and again, but it never worked.

Hello;
Here is my explanation why open-sourcing a program is a good idea. I hope it helps you.
Anyone who can will be able to read the code (and that means if someone tries to add malicious code people would notice), and it also makes it easier to contribute to the program, programmer or not. Programmers can fix the program on their own and then ask for their fix to be added. Or, if they don't know why something isn't working (or don't have time, or aren't programmers at all), they can create an issue: it's like a post, and anyone can comment on it. If the main programmer/s didn't find out what was wrong someone else might.

I don't think it does... it doesn't show the amount of time needed when it's installing at all, the thing only spins.
