Thank you for the write up! It was very informative.
I hope I'm not imposing, but you seem knowledgeable. Could you recommend a resource for a beginner to learn about audio technology? I'm thinking of upgrading from my old PC speakers to a proper surround setup for my home and want to know what to look for in a quality product.

I guess I just meant something a little more precise than just left and right for directions you can hear audio from. I didn't realize this was more of a software thing. I don't know a whole lot about audio tech.

Thank you for the recommendation! I did some more research on this pair and they seem really solid for the money. Current price was pretty tough to resist, got a set for me and one for my wife, too.
Hey all, I'm looking for a decent pair of headphones around $100ish US. I would like the following: - Wired - A mic or a slot to put one - Some kind of spatial audio - Comfortable to wear for long periods - All features available without the use of proprietary software The headphones will be driven by a desktop computer and used for communication, gaming, and listening to music. Can anyone here recommend something?

My understanding is the woman in the camo pants would later pass fron her injuries, and the woman in white was treated at a hospital and survived. Although, this is the only source I could find and can't speak to it's authenticity.

I'm happy to stay as a mod. I haven't been active lately because I've been quite busy with wedding planning but now that my wife and I have had a couple weeks to relax and settle in I'll be posting more often again.

I've had my OP8 5g UW since release. Flashed LineageOS for Microg as soon as the bootloader got cracked. Pretty happy with it and will keep it a few more years most likely. The only issue is Verizon abandoned it on Android 11, but that's Verizon's fault.

Governments need to get a grip on subscriptions in the automotive industry. This is getting out of hand and needs regulation.
Hey all, This is a copy of my guide that was originally posted on Reddit. I have removed it and linked to this post for future googlers. The first thing you will need is SteamTinkerLaunch, installation instructions can be found [here](https://github.com/sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch/wiki/Installation). Be sure to check out the "distro specific instructions" section. Now add SteamTinkerLaunch as a compatibility tool, instructions to do so can be found [here](https://github.com/sonic2kk/steamtinkerlaunch/wiki/Steam-Compatibility-Tool). Next, in your Steam library, right click on Spelunky 2, click Properties, check the box next to "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatability tool" and select SteamTinkerLaunch. The next thing you'll need is Modlunky2, which can be found [here](https://github.com/spelunky-fyi/modlunky2/releases). Just download modlunky2.exe, and place it in Spelunky 2's directory. You can find the directory by right clicking the game in your Steam library, hovering over Manage, and clicking Browse local files. While you're here, it's a good time to backup your save file if you care about your progress. Just copy savegame.sav to somewhere safe. Now Launch Spelunky 2 from Steam. A SteamTinkerLaunch window will pop up, click Main Menu when it does. In the main menu, click on Game Menu. Near the top of the game menu, check the box next to Use custom command. To the right of Custom command, change Spel2.exe to modlunky2.exe. Now scroll about half way down the game menu until you see Proton options, and change the Proton version to Proton experimental. Finally, click Save and Play. Modlunky 2 should open and you can begin installing mods! The process of using Modlunky 2 and spelunky.fyi to get and install mods is identical to Windows from here on out, so if you need more guidance you can follow any of the existing guides for doing so.

The main benefits of private trackers are:
-
Download speed. Many users of these trackers will use seedboxes to build ratio. This generally results in a faster download speed for peers.
-
Security. Many (but not all) private trackers have strict entry barriers, such as invite only or application based signups. This keeps copyright trolls out of their swarms, which eliminates the need for a vpn or other method of masking your identity. Depending on where you live this can range from a nicety to a necessity.
-
Longevity. Torrents generally live longer on private trackers.
-
Community. Some private trackers have a forum or IRC channel where you can interact with other community members.
-
Availability. Many private trackers will have a wider range of releases of a single media.
-
Quality. You will generally find higer quality releases on private trackers. That's not to say that high quality releases don't make it to public trackers, some do and some don't.
-
Faster releases. Releases will typically come to private trackers first. May torrents originate on these trackers or come from scene groups and trickle down.
If you're finding everything you want on public trackers then you probably aren't missing anything. You could test the waters on TL or something next time they open.

Could you post a list of all the projects you have coded up for this and a description of their purpose? Is there a GitHub repo or somewhere we could check them out?
Are you looking to host these projects individually, or combined on one server/website?
Lastly, are you asking only for financial assistance, or do you need programmers to help build/maintain these projects too?
Apologies if I have missed something, but a little more information here would be nice.

I'm a noob too but apt and flatpak are enough for me on Pop!_OS. I've added a couple repos here and there. I don't really see flatpaks as annoying, I prefer them as they generally make dependencies easier for me. They few pieces of niche software I have weren't that difficult to build/install.

I get where you're coming from but it makes sense to have equivalents for some of them. Like in this case, people are going to want a place to share and watch crazy/shocking videos.

TL's seeding requirements really aren't that bad. A lot of people don't realize you don't have to do that seeding 24/7 if you don't rent a seedbox or a have dedicated machine. If you want you can close your client while you use your computer and keep it running when, say, you're at work or asleep. Similarly if you want to turn your computer off overnight or something that's fine too. You'll just get a HnR warning that will clear once you open your client again.
Once you start to rank up your required seed time lowers. It bottoms out at just 4 days if you get to the TL-God user rank.

Aside from some of the things mentioned here, Death Trash is a pretty neat indev rpg.
I really like Golf With Your Friends.
Mount & Blade Warband is fantastic and I highly recommend it if you haven't played it.
Unrailed! is a neat little coop game to play with friends. If you buy this one on Steam you can use remote play together so only one person in your group needs to buy it.
Ultimate Chicken Horse is fun for a while with friends. Same deal with remote play together with this game.
Both Hotline Miami games are really fun.

[Crazy Fucking Videos](/c/crazyfuckingvideos@lemmy.world) Hopefully I got the url formatting correct. I'm not the creator or a moderator of this community or anything but I'm the only one posting. I'm going to try to post a bunch of the videos I've saved over the years (I've got hundreds lol) to get the ball rolling. It seems like the best way to share videos here is to upload them to your preferred website and put the link in your post. I've been using Imgur because you don't need an account to upload. You do have to use the desktop site if you want to upload from mobile without the app.

I am certainly no expert but I think conceptually they are neat so long as there is another way to access the account if, like you say, you lose the device or something else happens. In the current world of social media and AI, facial login would seem to me to be the furthest thing from secure.

Niche communities are what made Reddit fun/useful to me. It was really nice to have discourse with a community that liked the same video game, movie, hobby, political ideals, etc, that you did.
Guides and tutorials were the other big thing. I utilized and contributed guides on Reddit regularly. It was really nice to engage with a community to solve an issue rather than use some AI generated or ad ridden article.
I hope to see Lemmy fill these gaps and it seems it has the potential to do so.
