Oh man, you should have seen me looking for the HDMI ports. I was very confused until I realized my mistake. Turns out that there’s more than one kind, who knew🤷
I’ll have to give that camera connection a second look lol

Damn does this mean I have to buy another raspberry pi or can the one running octoprint serve double duty?
Koopa_Khan 22 hours ago • 100%
I just picked up a pi4 b today and was tinkering with octoprint.
So far it looks great, i just haven't figured out how to get the pi camera module 3 working quite yet. The stream from octoprint just constantly tries to load.
I’m excited to try some prints with it soon!

I’m about to start the sanding process. I did a bit by hand before deciding to pick up a sanding tool this week. Fingers crossed that makes the fiberglass sanding easier as well
Koopa_Khan 23 hours ago • 100%
No, that’s a new one.
Would greasing my gantry screw help?
If I’m missing steps due to heat is the only solution a new motherboard?

I thought so too! I cleaned it up a bit and glued the bottom back on. Its my pencil cup at work now

I have! This printer actually finished a 3ft sailboat rudder before this print. I popped some pictures of it in as well
Do you think that could be be solved by adjusting the z offset?

Thanks for the tip! I’ve been hesitant to start messing around to much but I think it should if it means it’s more reliable

I’ve been looking at this for a while. The camera I have on it is a security camera that i put on my desk while it prints if I’m gone.
Do you think its worth pulling the trigger on a raspberry pie to get this set up?
Koopa_Khan 3 days ago • 100%
It would at least once lol
I left the print over the weekend and I came back to spaghetti. It looks like something, caused the printer to push the print off its base like it was a poorly leveled bed? I still have to watch the camera footage to see what failed, but I hope you guys get a chuckle out of the spaghetti monster like I did.

It’ll probably be one or two more weekends worth of work, but I think I’m close. Its been an interesting learning experience, and honestly one that I probably couldn’t have done without a 3d printer. I’m very glad I gave it a shot and didn’t dump the boat like I had initially though about

I dig it!
And thank you! I’ll post an update once its done and in the water

Thats for the Hunter 170 next to it.
That makes me wonder if I couldn’t get that canoe sailing though.
A few of you may remember my post about the back end of my boat falling off and wanted to say thank you for all of your advice/encouragement! I started building a new rudder a couple weeks ago and am probably a couple weeks out from getting it finished up. The hole in the back end has been sealed up and I built a much stronger mounting point than the original system. I found a template of my boats rudder and modeled a copy then 3d printed the core. Between the fiberglass and the rods I’ve added for rigidity, I’m hoping it works out well. It may be coming up to October, but I think I’ll get at least one test run before the season ends.

I enjoy playing and playing against land destruction. There are plenty of ways to counter it and I really don’t get the hate.
Commander taboos bug the heck out of me. I get not everyone wants to puzzle their way out of stax hell, but the cards are there to use. I feel like there’s to much of “I don’t want to play this because it will prevent someone from doing the thing”

Yes, I just finished printing a rudder core for my sailboat.
For all the headache its caused, its also saved me from several trips to the store to find cable ties, chip clips, a hair dryer holder, pencil cups, spice racks, etc.

How’s Freecad these days? I avoided awhile ago it because it looked difficult to use but I think this might push me over to it

It’s hard to tell, but I’ll do some poking around today.
The original hardware was drilled into the wood over the panel and sealed. The rudder had a pin that went through the mount and it’s own hardware. That pin likely bounced out and torqued the whole piece off.
Thank you for the advice!
Koopa_Khan 3 months ago • 100%
Thank you sbv!
Koopa_Khan 3 months ago • 100%
I wish I could tell you.
My best guess is that the pin bounced out when i was trying to help my wife uncleat the jib and the pressure just ripped the rudder right off. It was just a perfect storm of a large wind gust, waves, and a hardware failure
Koopa_Khan 3 months ago • 100%
That’s a good question. I’m pretty sure I can, those I might try to fit a different style since the original set up wasn’t great
If you were me, would you try to use the same wood that’s there or replace the whole structure?

This happened mid sail, but we were fortunate enough to get a tow back to the dock and on a lift
I’m glad it was this and not the mast
Koopa_Khan 3 months ago • 100%
No orcas but maybe some very aggressive large mouth bass lol.
Glad to hear it might be repairable though. I spend god knows how long last month repairing hairline cracks in the hull, I’d at least like to do some sailing this season
I took the boat out for its first sail this year and lost the rudder. Do you guys think this is reparable or am I buying a new boat? It’d be a shame to lose her over something so stupid

I like it a lot, and it got my wife into Fallout.
I’m not happy about the power armor, ghoul makeup, or the decision to have very obvious real world car frames rusting away. It nailed everything else in my book though.
All things considered it’s a blast to watch, and did I mention it got my wife into Fallout? She’s been asking questions about the lore, and she couldn’t care less about any other game outside of Dream Light Valley before this. If it gives us another thing to bond over and gets her into a series that helped me through some of the worst parts of my life, I’m all about it.

I wasn’t saying that playstation hasn’t sold more consoles. I also not arguing that it doesn’t have better games. It does, Microsoft is very clearly dropping the ball even after they acquired as many heavy hitters as they did. My biggest regret this generation was switching to a Series X from the PS4 instead of either tossing money at a PC or picking up the PS5.
What I’m surprised by is that the conditions when consoles have had didn’t seem to be taken into effect.
Koopa_Khan 6 months ago • 87%
I find poor sales hard to believe taking into account the pandemic and supply chain issues both consoles faced for a couple years.
Koopa_Khan 6 months ago • 80%
Please don’t take this as me being a dick, I’m genuinely curious. Why not just get a Series X and not buy disks?

I just started playing for the first time and did some of Emerald Grove and just completed the ruins near by that took me 5 hours. What an incredible game, I want to stop and talk to everyone. My first play through I’m trying to say and do things I actually think I would do since I created a custom character for the first go around.

Hi everyone! I'm curious to know which slicer you guys use. I've been using the Creality slicer, but it seems like it pretty consistently crashes, and I've tried Cura but the print seemed stringy despite using the same settings. How are Orca or Prusa?
Does this hobby ever get easier or is it always like getting kicked in the nuts by Ronaldo? Filament some how leaked up and burned on. I just don’t have it in me to keep tinkering. I just want to print
Is there any reason that little silver part of the extruder wouldn’t move and start clicking while printing when printing at 205 in PLA. It seems to turn just fine without any filament in there otherwise. I cleaned out a nozzle clog, but is it possible there’s junk in the hot end stuck? Resolution: Thanks for your help everyone! It ended up being a nozzle clog that I didn’t get all the way out. I ended up heating the printer up and doing the cool down trick. That seemed to work as a last ditch effort before buying a new nozzle.
I recently picked up a PC and decided to give the original fallout game a try. Do you guys have any tips or tricks I should know before I get started?
Hi all! I was curious to see if anyone had any recommendations for an enclosure for the Ender V3 Neo. I found a few on Amazon, but they look like grow tents and wasn’t sure if that would work well. For a bit of context, it seems like an enclosure is a must have for ABS printing which is ultimately what I’m after. Thanks everyone!
I recently picked up an Ender 3 V2 Neo at auction. All the pictures looks great, I was told it functioned, and I saw some pictures of it put together. Long story short either they didn't include the bolts to mount the screen/gantry or kept them. Does anyone know what screen bolts and gantry mounting bolts I need? Thanks in advance!
Hi everyone, I have a 1968 convertible beetle that will start an idle for about two minutes while it makes a god-awful screeching sound before it dies. This seems to be a relatively new sound as last year it would start and at least idle before dying on acceleration. Does anyone have any advice on what could be causing the screeching or why it would idle but not take acceleration? I’ve played with the auto choke a little bit, but it hasn’t made a difference as far as I can tell. The carburetor was also cleaned and rebuilt. The only other thing I can think of is, maybe there’s something caught in the fuel screen, old or the fuel pump is bad. Thanks everyone I appreciate it!
It looks like we have a couple perks, but is it going to be viable until the late game?
I have both The Institute and Fairy Tale on my list next, but do you guys any recommendations on which one I should pick up first?
We loaded up the Hunter 170 today to see how she would sail when loaded down with camping gear in preparation for next weekend’s trip to the Apostle Islands. My wife is still a bit nervous, but feeling much more confident after today. Please ignore the watering can. She wanted to put a bit more weight onboard just in case.
