Hey! thank you! That's awesome news! I would like to see more discussion growing on the established sentiment (from what I remember, mind you) regarding "vegan capitalism" or "consumer veganism" or whatever. Basically, the idea that you aren't doing the right thing just by eating vegan foods, for example, if you are buying the impossible burgers from BK, or the almondmilk version of Ben and Jerry's. I think there is some room there to expand on these ideas and promote socialism.

Hey Muad! Sincere apologies not getting back to you. IRL has been crazy lately and put me into a weird headspace, I've been off social media for a while. Stoked that you are vegan, and would LOVE to learn about marxist vegan theory. I am a big fan of your work by the way (Lemmy, github, torrents)

Thank you! I had an argument with some streamer who said Apple are the best phones for privacy reasons, talking about the (IMO) sham case about feds not being able to access iPhone data and all I had at the moment was how corporations don't care about you and there is no oversight so we are taking them at their word when they say they won't spy on us. :thumbs up:

:smiling face with sunglasses: pretty much agree with @T34@lemmygrad.ml but also loving the headline :smiling face with sunglasses:
Some of these communities aren't very active, so for the time being, let's merge them or at least keep an eye on related subcommies! [!vegancirclejerk@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/vegancirclejerk) [!vegan@lemmy.ml](https://lemmy.ml/c/vegan) <3
Is this an official Lemmygrad from the sub or nah? I'd be surprised if it were, because there were a lot of liberals in the discord. We should convert them! I missed y'all

Lemmy is federated now, I think. Welcome to all African comrades ! All comrades are welcome, please share your perspectives <3

peertube.social is the one i see @felipeforte@lemmygrad.ml posting on and it has 2k users, but I couldn't create account there (not allowed). I didn't want to join some random one, any suggestions?

He slays Hitchens in the debate, idk what they are talking about. Also, there are Parenti playlists on YouTube I can dig up if they haven't already been posted. Parenti blew me away, and I've listened to his audiobooks as well, shoutout to comrade Dessalines for recording them

Why would we shoot him comrade? Although not a principled communist by any means (incoming Wikipedia quote):
"According to FBI surveillance reports, and confirmed by Tariq Ali in 2006, Lennon was sympathetic to the International Marxist Group, a Trotskyist group formed in Britain in 1968.[246] However, the FBI considered Lennon to have limited effectiveness as a revolutionary, as he was "constantly under the influence of narcotics."
I haven't been very active lately, what have I missed? As far as I remember, the comrade had been active and adhered to our values. I don't mean to stir drama, only to learn where our comrade has gone. I don't see any record of a ban of the user, but the user has erased all of their posts
I am not pagan, but I love all comrades and enjoy learning new perspectives. How large of a role does your religion play in your life? Is there anything I should know when trying to see from a pagan POV? And since we are on Lemmygrad, does your spirituality draw from or inspire your study of communism in any way?

I don't have technical questions, but what about political or opinion ones? Should comrades carry or leave it at home (in other words, is being armed routinely or just in the time of need more important)? By time of need, I'm referring to an organized call to action, not an unexpected danger (like a mugging).
I have a couple other questions that would be better suited for Element. ;)
This came up in my recommended feed, and judging by the comments, the title is sincere. Morgan Freeman is seriously ignorant of systemic racism. This is some Candace Owens level bullshit.

Penn & Teller: Dalai Lama and Tibet. With the exception of mandatory liberal *this doesn't mean CHINA GOOD* these guys call out the Dalai Lama and Tibet, even tagging in Michael Parenti for the kill Bonus fact: Parenti was on one other episode about patriotism, but he was hiding his power level there.
For anybody out of the loop, we're mocking anti-vegan arguments in the context of wearing a mask. As much as I laugh reading the thread, I also get angry because I've heard every single one of these arguments through my life. Enjoy, comrades!

Comments on post about israeli tanks reminded me of this. Also, of course, that USAF recruits gamers directly on social media and with their drone simulator game. Great video though, please check it out.

Interesting, have you shared your thoughts with other queers (is it ok as a noun)? What was their reaction? I'm happy using any term at all, but I wouldn't want to risk a first impression by using queer if it may be misunderstood.

Comrades, How do you feel about collaborating with non-MLs? Some people seem to be purists, but I don't see any problem collaborating towards shared goals. Not saying you should join an anarchist book club, but what about campaigning for reforms or doing direct action? Pre-COVID, I've bitten my tongue to organize with DSA, or volunteer for Bernie Sanders. Does anybody disagree with me, or have funny stories working with non-MLs?
If conservatives were roleplayers

I swear, YouTube is one of the most reactionary social media of all time. I only ever see good comments on obscure communist videos. I'm glad these dumbasses get roasted sometimes
Screenshot from wikipedia. I love this graphic.

IDK who any of these people are, and it can be a sign of grifting to be collecting on Patreon, but to play devil's advocate, it doesn't necessarily mean that they are. To be honest, just looking at that screenshot it does look HD and professional so I'd guess that they are well-off with YouTube and Twitch money alone, but just saying if you're a full-time content producer, you can have a Patreon without being a grifter.

This channel seems cool, and the video was informative and hilarious. At the end of the video, 36 minutes in, he also recommends other channels and also he created a Parenti lecture playlist too, which is just what I was asking for in my earlier post LOL
Hildegarde 4 years ago • 100%
well said, comrades @calmlamp@lemmygrad.ml @Farmer_Heck@lemmygrad.ml . You two have a lot more experience with these types than I do, and I appreciate your insight.
Hildegarde 4 years ago • 100%
First, I am not involved with that group, and am genuinely just asking questions. These are obviously bad things that you have pointed out that I would not attempt to defend. That said, you point to the origin and alleged trends of the group to discredit it. Does that mean that the ideology as a whole should be rejected from our instance? What about those that were unaware of its origins and simply wanted to establish a commune off-the-grid? In other words, if you were unaware of its racist origins and were not hateful as you claim many communities are? Also, are these online communities or IRL ones you have visited?
Now that I'm writing this up, I'm beginning to question whether these people would help us in a worker's revolution, so maybe it doesn't even matter and they belong on another instance.
Comrades, I have been listening to Parenti lectures on YouTube. He is informative with a great sense of humor. Most YouTube lectures however are low quality and somehow every time his mic is busted. Anybody know where I can find high quality lecture recordings? *As I made this post, I learned that [@muad_dibber@lemmygrad.ml](/u/muad_dibber) had recorded an audiobook of Blackshirts and Reds (Lemmy will recommend related posts based upon your submission title), which I will check out.*
:cowboy hat face: The actual subcommie is [!mmtc@lemmygrad.ml](/c/mmtc)
I just got the secure messenger, Element. Is this what we are using for sending private messages? How would i connect it to lemmy? I noticed there is also a group chat feature.
I have found some subcommies that have no active moderators. They will have one or two moderators appointed, but they are either inactive or sometimes have deleted their accounts. Communism101 is one example (only mod has deleted account). Other cases, I have found the moderator(s) without posts or comments for several months. If something should be done about moderation of communities with inactive mods, at what point can we agree a mod is inactive?
Pretty sure I stole this from r/ENLIGHTENEDCENTRISM
