It's £18.99. Is the £12.99 you paid converted to GPB from your own currency?

Can someone explain what this means. The ads/tracking is not activated in Sync for Lemmy? If so, why have it in the code.

That seems fair. I'm in the camp that is really hesitant to take on another subscription but also understand that this your living and it has to be worthwhile for you.

You more techy than you think if you're here.
Gazumbo 1 year ago • 100%
I'm tech literate but I wouldn't consider myself technical compared to a lot of people here. I struggle with adapting to new concepts. Takes a while to get my head around them.
For instance (no pun intended) when twitter shat the bed and I heard about Mastodon being an alternative. I looked to into it but it seemed a bit overwhelming to figure out.
Fast forward to Reddit shitting the bed and the bits of knowledge learned from Mastodon helped me in converting to Lemmy.
I'm mid 40's and it's really frustrating that I can't figure things out like I could in my teens and 20's.

Thanks for implementing the swipe up/down to dismiss an image!
This is totally not important compared to implementing other features but is there a way to make the gesture more fluid so the image loves with your drag until you let go? Sync for Redditvs implentation as an example.
Edit: I think it already is doing what I said but sometimes it's not sticking with the drag and snapping back/snapping back as well as dismissing the image.

Yes, it's working on Lemmy.world now. Beehaw looks to be down for maintenance but will try again later. Thank you!

Yeah tried that, made no difference unfortunately.
Since yday I haven't been able to sign in to either of my accounts in Connect. I get the following error. Edit: I'm on 1.0.80 beta

One of its plus points (no pun intended) was that it was the first social media platform to allow more granular control over who saw your posts. You could people to 'circles' and limit posts to which ever circles of friends you selected (if I'm remembering this correctly).
I think at that time on Facebook, you only had the option of Public, Friends or Private. It spurred Facebook on to introduce more granular control as well. So if nothing else, Google+ was good for that.

Yeah this happening with me also. If I log in via a browser I see way more comments on a post. Was happening pre-beta and still happening after signing up for beta.
Edit: I'm also unable to post a reply to a comment on at least one thread which has some missing comments.

One of the things that probably killed it was Google enforcing people to use their real names on there. Which of course affected also commenting on YouTube as well.
I quite liked Google+ overall. Would have been good to have a proper competitor to Facebook.

One thing that puts me off Liftoff is the dark theme isn't dark enough for me but I find the Amoled mode too dark.
Gazumbo 1 year ago • 100%
Yep, infuriating. It just happened with me. Googled something, followed a link to a website. I couldn't see images on forum lthread there without registering. So I register, that of course takes me to the home page on the forum instead.

Please don't federate with Meta. You can guarantee they'll ruin all that is good about the fediverse.
Gazumbo 1 year ago • 66%
I think it really depends how big the fediverse becomes. If it becomes popular enough that Meta are missing out on that rich, creamy data mining then you bet they'll do what ever they can to destroy other instances and the fediverse in general.

Thanks again for all you're hard work.
Feature request please: Gesture swipe up or down on an image to dismiss it and return to post. Same for gifs/videos if you implement a built-in player at the some point.
Feature request 2: some border padding on images in community view. I enabled show 'Post titles Above Images' but without a border the title and post text look disconnected

I'm getting this quite a bit as well. Ironically, I got it on this post as well 😂
Gazumbo 1 year ago • 100%
+1 from me. I asked about this when I requested the swipe to back out of a post. I think the dev forgot, can't blame him, he's getting requests from all sides at the moment and working non-stop on it.

Do not make it so
When possible, please could you add some gesture navigation. Mainly the ability to back out of a post via swiping left to right anywhere on the screen. Bonus would the ability to override the 'press back to exit app' and instead let it open the navigation drawer. Thanks for all your work on the app.

I'm on 1.0.32 but unfortunately I'm still unable to add more than one account with the same username.
I can sign into a 2nd account and it switches to the front page/all of that account but if I switch back to the first account, the 2nd one just isn't there to choose from in the side bar.
For reference, 1st account is lemmy.world, 2nd account is beehaw.org.
Thanks for your work on this.

Yep same here. I'd usually browse 'all' on reddit and everything that could be said had already been said in the comments. So it kind of felt what's the point.
It's made me realise that I don't want Lemmy to become a reddit clone for this reason. If it gets too big it'll be the same issue.

I really hope that won't be the only option. I've used Sync for so many years and would buy premium in heart beat (I bought lifetime ultra on Sync for Reddit) but I'm afraid I won't subscribe with an ongoing payment. I understand it from the devs point of view as far income is concerned but there's just too many things require subscriptions these days.
Everyone wants a piece of the pie but the pie isn't big enough
If I leave the app for a short time, I come back and it tells me 'not_logged_in' and to perform any task it prompts me to log in. Even after doing this, it still shows these messages until I choose 'switch to account' in the side menu. Problem is, not only does it log me out again after a short time. My account disappears from the side menu and I have to 'add account' again. Strangely, even though it forgets my account, if I tap the person icon on the bottom right of the screen, it's still listed there. I'm using lemmy.world and android 13.
