back when i was still a teenager, ww did battle ourselfes who typed faster even without a keyboard lol. We just typed on a table or something just based on our finger memory of where which key is normally on a keyboard. This days i often type on my smartphone, but you can't rly type a lot or fast on phones so i still prefer normal computer typing for most things. But people who just chat and don't code or similar...yeah, they probably are mostly only using their phone. my sister as an example hasn't used her laptop for nore than 4 years, probably more.. and just does everything on her phone.

no it doesn't. i tried to achieve this multiple times myself and it never worked. and the cases where journalists say it did, they needed to specific ask a lot of times and in a highly specific way till they got a short snippet. Chatgpt dont spits out the exact same phrases over and over again if you ask the same, but has a variable defining how "random" and "far away from the perfect next predicted text" the output is, and by default this makes sure that the answers are never the same. Otherwise it wouldn't be chat like but more like a simple database spitting out always the same answers for the same question. But that's not how chatgpt works.

Lemmy don't even works on older browsers, and till isn't fixed i doubt it will take off. A lot of users still user older browsers and won't update just for lemmy. I know it sounds insane but disabling auto updates has become a need this days, specially with browsers (see what google does with chrome or firefox with their shitty forced changes you can't disable or switch off and random settings not working anymore in about config). Instead of supporting as much devices and clients as possible, lemmy is ignoring those and then wonders why nobody much uses lemmy. There isn't even rly a good portion of working apps who don't kill themself every few weeks or months because there was another lemmy server update which killed apps. It's just frustrating trying to use lemmy, so i as an example stopped using it actively because of all the technical issues related to it.

We often yell at reddit about what they do, but look at what lemmy does. We can't even get the basic functionality working without it breaking every few day or weeks for another new reason. Why ANYBODY of the not tech related people ever would want to bear this stress? Most of non tech people can't even install a driver for a printer and we expect that they use lemmy with all it's flaws? come on.

to my knowledge this limit existed already for a long time. it's intented to prevent scraping and automatic bots. They basically want prevent people from using bots who act as a browser instead of using their API (where they can limit them) to do stuff on reddit.

They also have a automatic system detecting when too many clients access them with similar or "odd" characteristics (weird useragents, referers, amount of requests, weird headers in the request etc.) - if they detect such a case they usually limit you and then completly block you for hours, days or months. I couldn't open reddit on my chrome app anymore because that as an example (i was developing an reddit client and they detected my useragent browser name as "too old".. so they just banned my browser while others worked fine )

how would they scan the inside of a password protected zip archive? the whole purpose of the password is that nobody can open it without the pw. you can may look at the zip archive self and check the checksum or maybe filenames, but not open and extract the files to check them (images etc). specially not if you maybe even use rar archives who are even more secure and you can protect even filename lists etc.

I thought they were uninteresting, but I didn't care much. this days i have a allergic reacting against all ads. going online without a adblock feels like websites slap me with a huge block of wood or stone directly into my face over and over and over.. it's crazy.

i really can't understand how this days people can still not go crazy without a adblocker.

most websites just check the browser useragent, and if you spoof the useragent, it works. most websites are blocking it artifically even if the website works fine with your browser. so i think it's worth a shot if there are chrome plugins who can spoof the browser useragent.

why? because you don't want to see certain things in your feed. people come hwre for various things. some people come here to mentally relax, so they don't want to hear about negative topics like wars or people Fighting all the time. other people just are not interested in certain topics or posts but have them flood their feed.

example: i come here for relaxing mentally and to see posts about topics I'm interested in. so I don't want to see negative stuff like causalities in wars, hearing people complain what bad things they experienced this day, what stuff has gone wrong in their life and other negative stuff. another example is lemmynsfw where I don't want to see males showing their genitals to me since I'm interested in women, not guys. so i block communitys who are about such things.

short: because people don't want ro see certain stuff. that's why there is a block function. lemmy without a block function wouldn't be useable since you get flooded with tons of posts you aren't interested in by default without any blocks.

The issue with LLMs is, that they got trained with all kinds of data. so not just real scientific data but also fantasy (lies, books, movie scripts etc ).. and nobody told the LLMs while training them what is fantasy or what not. so they only know how to generate text that looks "legit" without really knowing what is true and what not. so if you ask for a person and their personal details as an example.. a LLM could generate real looking data that is just fantasy because it learned that such data looks like this. same goes for everything else like programming code, book titles, facts etc.. LLMs just generates text in the correct format and which looks real, without caring if its real or not.

you can still use most third-party apps. All you have to do is be a moderator in a subreddit. for some stupid reason reddit then allows you to still use them because they probably need all help they can get from mods.

Joey as an example still works fine, you nust have to use a older version and block their versions check.

i mean.. try using it for even simple stuff like designing code. Often, ChatGPT creates a fantasy library that does the task you ask chatgpt tk do.. the library don't exists, but chatgpt writes you code using that fantasy software library. Same with program functions who don't exist.

Same happens with stuff like People, telephone numbers, locations, books etc.. tons of fantasy stuff.

LLMs aren't trustworthy for such stuff if you need real info and not just creative help with fantasy stuff. And even for those tasks it is usually not really good enough.
