You probably have something fucky going on with bureaucracy or taxation capacity that's fucking up your income, or construction goods are actually Not Cheap, if you're building for them but still unable to sustain your construction
An example of the bureaucracy/tax shit randomly fucking you is when you're playing Japan and get forced to open and all of a sudden make no money, it's cause isolationism gives a big increase to taxation capacity. I just realized that even though i can't be vegan chef until they find a new dinner cook (again) i could probably get a head start thinking of menus I'd want to do. Or learning how to actually do that in a way that makes sense and like learn about ordering and logistics related to planning those menus. Anyway, I have never, ever, in like hundreds of hours of gameplay, taken territory and not had a secession shortly after that I've had to crush. The turmoil in conquered territory is always >50% and it's basically impossible to build enough to meaningfully affect standard of living to reduce radicals before the secession triggers, especially because of the massive construction penalties from the turmoil. Like I do not know what I, the player, am supposed to actively do aside from wait for the inevitable secession and crush it. Then it never happens again and the turmoil goes away. Like am I supposed to just never conquer anything until I have 10000 construction points and can turn the conquered territory into a utopia in a few months? Because the timeline to secession is IMPOSSIBLY short.
The true tragedy being that it was accidental

The rub started to burn on the skillet so i added a bit of water near the end before it was actually burnt, then sloshed the corn around so it acted like a glaze, kept roasting for a bit and then finished it in the broiler for the char
it's my second time ever roasting corn so I decided to go with a barbecue/elote sort of seasoning, put some chipotle/ancho chile powder, garlic and onion powder, a little bit of brown sugar all smushed up in there my plan is to scrape all the corn off after roasting and then toss it in lime juice w/ cilantro and use it as a burrito filler with my barbecue. I'm going to skip the mayonnaise part of elote b/c there's coleslaw
